Ugh... I got some bad news today, a position that I have been in the application process/wait list/background checks for the past year just announced that it is in a hiring freeze until at least FY2013 and even then it will be of a limited hiring capacity, at least I'm into endurance sports so I can wait it out. I'm thankful to have a job but dang I was hoping to move up.

BUT looking at the silver linning is I now know I can concentrate on Tri training and got the not going to call it permission per say but more like the ok to go for that Key West Full that was announced yesterday.

I've got nothing to report training wise short run last night and just waiting to see how cold it will be saturday. Mid 30-40s is expected what would some of ou cold weather folk be wearing? I'm thinking running tights long sleeve shirt, or arm warmers and a hat.

I looked at that and it's quite tempting. I guess there would be no better place for a Manatee reunion than the Keys and while I lived in Florida for some time and went to college there, I've never been to the Keys. Hmmmm....

We should totally have a Manatee meetup. How cool would that be?

Did a swim workout this am. During it I thought about blowholes in my armpits. Pretty sure I got my stroke looking just like yours

I was swim training Wednesday. I am concerned that the pool manager is becoming sispicious of me due to the amount of water that goes missing whilst i am in the pool. Perhaps i wouldn't swallow so much through a blow hole so i am going to my first improver class on saturday. Watch this space!

Ohh you don't mitigate that by peeing in the pool? My bad!

I've been to the Keys and it is truly breathtaking. I went down there after college when I took a year off to "play" before going to med school. I got to windsurf in Bahia Honda, really cool except if one's not careful the current can take you away! Plus I got to see cool shadows in the water beneath me. Yes, I would do it again.

I had an awesome swim/run set today. Decided rather than work on swim drills which I have been doing lots of, that instead I would go all out and do an endurance swim for a confidence boost. I did note improvements in not just time, but energy as I can definitely feel improvement in my stroke efficiency. Still have a long way to go, but any improvement in exciting!

Well, it looks like it's officially winter here in Michigan. Managed to get my last Harley ride in before the snow it. Time to get out the skis and snowboard. I love all my toys!!!

That is great that your swimming is improving! I'm a little jealous about the Harley ride. I got rid of my motorcycle last year. I thought i would quit while I was ahead haha

CONGRATS JOGO!!!

I made it through day 2! No caffeine--i.e. soda!!! I had a headache for most of the day, not overwhelming, but there enough to annoy. I hemmed and hawed about getting my workout in, but then thought of how disgusted with myself I would be if I didn't do it. So I hit the gym and did my small run/strength workout. speed/incline intervals for 30 minutes, and 30 minutes of strength training---I got about 2.7 miles in and some muscle work--but best of all? Headache is GONE! Hopefully for good, but I'm not holding my breath.

Tomorrow its Swim time with my tri club! yay! My, how times have changed--I used to dread swim class/workouts!

x2 on the motorcycle jealousy. Last owned one eight years ago (sports bikes) but gave it up because it was only a matter of time before new born daughter would have been fatherless.

Looking forward to going skiing myself next weekend. Unfortunately we have to do it in a giant indoor freezer as we just dont get the proper winters here.

Missed my master swim workout tonight. Apparently a little one wee'd in the shallow end of the pool and they had to close the pool and clean it. Pool will reopen tomorrow morning. Tonight Wednesday will be my rest day instead of Friday this week due to pool closure. One has to learn to be flexible about things you have no control over. As was the case with missing my 1.5 hour swim workout tonight. Life happens or in this case wee happened.

On a more exciting note. My nephew who is running as a "lost boy" in the Tinkerbell HM with his mom and aunties at the end of the month texted me yesterday. "Aunt Chris would you be interested in running the less tinkalicious 5K with me at Disneyland on Friday night?" The cost of the 5K was $99 bucks. I have been saving my mad money to spend while I am at Disneyland. BUT then I thought to myself. Self, do you really need all those trinkets & such, no. Instead wouldn't you rather spend some of the mad money you saved on a precious running memory with your nephew. Yes I would. How many people get the opportunity to run through Disneyland at 10:30 at night. It will be a slow 5K as we plan to pause and be total Disney character posers throughout the run.

5K's are a dime a dozen, so what if you're paying for nearly a dozen with this one ... FUN FAMILY FROLICKING is forever.
