Great, I'm still in the dog house with your lululemon recommendation... You obviously have not been to a lululemon store. They have clothes for guys too. And the reason is because we are suckers. At least I am. But the lululemon stuff is amazing. I like Nike too, but it's not my go to workout choice anymore. No I haven't, and won't. I have compression tops from Academy, like Dicks Sporting Goods but more warehouseish, and they work as good as my Under Armour stuff so $17 vs. $50. I hit up the New Balance outlet store and get shorts at like $15 a pop too. Oh I do have some 2XU Elite tights that I got 50% off. Still paid $70. Damn near made me sick. I do most of Cindy's clothes shopping so I just get dumbfounded by the prices. You can find really nice brand name guys buttondowns for $30 ish on sale at Macys. A nice blouse on sale at say Ann Taylor is double that. Makes no sense. |

Extreme Veteran 3020 | Subject: RE: kaburns1214 Mentor Group 2012 - CLOSED Up for an early run and then will hit the gym for swim and weights tonight. Just got on the computer to sign Gordie up for 4 year old preschool next year, and all the morning slots sold out in 30 minutes. WTF. Now we're stuck doing the afternoon thing. Sigh. I know it's not that big of a deal in the grand scheme of things, but this really messes with my daily schedule for the kids (plus Gordie is pretty tired in the afternoon...much more of a morning guy). Oh well. Whatev. Looks like 2012-2013 will be interesting. |

He'll wear dirty lulu shorts over clean anything else. It just feels so very nice. Not sure if this speaks to the shorts or to Shaun. Just sayin. |

On the other had after 3 weeks of swimming I sort of played around and for my last 100 yard repeat today I wanted to see what i was capable of. I swam a 1:28 off the wall with open turns I was happy until I found out that a co-workers 9-year old daughter is swimming 1:16 in meets off of blocks. Next week for me off the deck as fast as possible no 9-year old beats this old man!!

I think I'm going back to my regualr green monsters. Any combination of chocolate, pb, and banana with some almond milk, a whole bunch of spinach, hemp protein, chlorella and maca powder. DELICIOUS. Carrie - Congrats! Kelly - Thanks for shipping the helmet! I can't wait to try it out! Also - Lululemon ROCKS. Edited by ReginaPhalange72 2012-01-12 10:47 AM |

I remember reading about it in the Thrive diet book, but I can't recall the details. Kelly - I will try and take some pics. The mornings are so hectic with trying to get the kids ready for school that I forget things sometimes, but I will remember tomorrow! |

Extreme Veteran 610 San Francisco CA | Subject: RE: kaburns1214 Mentor Group 2012 - CLOSED Yeah another Lululemon devotee here. Their stuff is $$$ but it lasts so long it's worth the money to me. I have a pair of running crop tights that I've worn and washed every week for the last three years and they still look brand new. Love 'em! I'm just starting to get into the whole kale smoothie thing, trying to get more veggies in at breakfast. This morning I made one with kefir, kale, frozen berries, half a banana and a little bit of agave nectar. I could still taste the kale and it was a bit bitter. Trying to limit the amount of sugar I eat so will try to cut out the agave nectar once I get used to the taste. |

Pro 4723 CyFair | Subject: RE: kaburns1214 Mentor Group 2012 - CLOSED I'm pretty boring on the smoothie front. Choc whey, tbsp of natty peanut butter, milk, ice and blend. Sometimes I add iced coffee into the mix if I'm dragging. Xtreme Formulations makes a killer lemonade whey and lemon cream pie casien though. I bet you can get creative with those as base flavors. |

Master 2151 Johns Creek, Georgia | Subject: RE: kaburns1214 Mentor Group 2012 - CLOSED I'm boring with smoothies too. Usually plain or vanilla whey protein, almond or soy milk, banana, blueberries, ground flax seed, lots and lots of ice. I bought some hemp protein powder and had to return it. I could not choke that stuff down. Tasted too "earthy". I want to try adding the spinach or kale. I can see how you probably wouldn't taste it, unless it was clumpy like Jen said. What are everyone's favorite protein powder & brand? I like designer whey plain flavor. It's not cheap, but I like how smooth it blends. I also like that guy Rob something, can't recall the full name, but it's very good too. |

Veteran 446 | Subject: RE: kaburns1214 Mentor Group 2012 - CLOSED Alright- for you bike pros. There is another thread that talks about the importance of pedaling in circles (or lack of importance depending on what you believe). In my limited experience I have found that I spent last year just mashing down on my pedals as hard as I could. I also was getting hamstring pain after about 1 hr. Really bad pain. Then I read a book that explained you should drive your knee up to your handlebars. I started doing this and it started taking strain off my hams. I was driving down so hard that at 6 oclock i was still pressing down. Wasting energy. Anyway, does anyone else have any things they have learned about pedaling that could help us beginners? |

Master 2538 Albuquerque | Subject: RE: kaburns1214 Mentor Group 2012 - CLOSED I try not to think about pedaling too much, but one-legged drills on the trainer DO expose some "holes" in the pedal stroke. Definitely something to play around with. |
