Subject: RE: Ghoulies HMs and margaritas

I'm doing a soft reset and a re-charge on my garmin, then I'll update the software. IF that works and I don't need another battery (which would require sending it in to Garmin), then all I have to do is change out the band (which broke back in May) and I'll have a working GPS/HR monitor again. I've been using nike+ on my iphone, and it's ok, but I don't feel like the readings are super accurate with respect to pace at any given time (overall pace seems fine, though). And it's made me miss my data from my garmin.

Plus then I'll be able to hop on the bike and see my cadence and distance on the trainer again. Or was that a problem because I need a new battery in the bike sensors too? Ugh. I can't remember! (It's not like I've used the garmin in the last 6 months...)

Can you tell I'm procrastinating going to the gym to run on the treadmill?

January 2 will probably be busy at the gym. Your procrastination is justified!

LOL! True! But it will only get worse as the day goes on. Maybe if I wait until everyone else is done with their lunchtime workouts?

The temps here are in the single digits and teens, and there's a lovely inversion settling in again, so I figured what better way to prepare myself for runnning in 70 degree Key West weather than to run indoors, right?

Yes, running inside is probably closer to running in KW than running in single digits. Going at off times is probably a good idea, too!

ironannekidd - 2013-01-02 8:57 AM Robin - when are the 4th of July fireworks displays down there? Up here fireworks are going off for a week. I'm thinking ahead to Keri's 10th birthday.

The ones in town here usually happen right on the 4th. I don't know how they will do it this year since it is in the middle of the week. They usually hold with the 4th though. When is her birthday? Wow... a birthday with a 0 already!

Her birthday is the 3rd. We are going on the family vacation to the beach this year sometime in July, but I don't think it's her birthday week. If it is not I might bring her down there for a few days, if that's ok with you. With her birthday being in the summer, and right there by the holiday she's never really had a big party with friends, usually just family. I already told her she can have a birthday party in May, or early June, so she can invite friends from school. I still want to do something special for her birthday though.

The boy will be 13 in March. Where does the time go?

I feel your pain! The Boy hit his double digit birthday last May. And we're having to force Her Royal Highness to drive--her learner's permit expires the weekend of the run in Key West and she has almost 20 hours of driving to do before she can go get her real license! I'm glad she's got a mind of her own, but sheesh! I'm sick of being the taxi driver ALL the time, every. single. day.

Ann, do you think we'll miss all of this? Nevermind. I know the answer. I think we will. And it's coming someday way too soon, IMO.

Ah, but the flip side is that you need to supply her with a car and car insurance.  Neither of our kids drove until they were 17+.

I think some time.... a long long time from now in a galaxy far far away we may miss it. I like the age my kiddos are at now, but I know they aren't going to stay here for long.

We decided before we ever had kids that we will not hand them a car. We may have a third car, that they can borrow, but they will have to come ask us for keys and tell us where they are going, who they are going with, and when they will be back. We both knew too many people as kids that had their own cars and got into a lot of trouble.

Made me laugh, too! thanks, Ann for both wearing the jammies, and the laugh.

Of course, now I'm thinking that she spends most of the day running around the house and living up to the last part of her BT username. (Or maybe she just does that at night. LOL)

Thnings we want to do in Key West.

Frank and I have two "must do" on our list.

  1. Kayaking, and I think Ann wanted to do that too.  Imagine that, Ann wanting to kayak.  LOL.
  2. Dry Tortugas National Park (aka Ft. Jefferson).  That one is a bit costly.  $165 per person, however it is all day, lunch and snorkeling is included. If no one else is interested in this trip, we may do it on Thu or Friday.

Some other places of interest but won't kill me to miss are:

  1. Winery, Hmmm, I have a feeling there might be others on this trip interested in going here.  ha ha. www.thekeywestwinery.com
  2. There is a sculpture tour that is annually from mid Jan til mid Apr.  that might be fun to check out.  www.sculpturekeywest.com
  3. Ghost tours of Key west - www.hauntedtours.com or www.keywestghosts.com
  4. Little White House www.trumanlittlewhitehouse.com
  5. Dolphins www.wilddolphinadventures.com
  6. Florida Keys Eco-Discovery Center www.floridakeys.noaa.gov/eco-discovery.html
  7. Bicycle rentals - riding around on bicycles

I have not chosen any places to eat.  I'm not good at picking out restaurants.  Frank might come up with a few.  He is usually good at that.

Robin, I know you have a book, what is on your list?

Right after I read her post I got an email that my ninja pj's have shipped. If I'm wearing ninja pajama bottoms will you be able to see them? Hmm....
