haha I have been to two leafs games, havent paid for either....and I am not going to pay for one for a long time now I daresay. I am going to stick to the OHL and the QMJHL, fraction of the cost and almost always a better game! |

Expert 4269 | Subject: RE: Beer Drinker Appreciation Society - Closed I'm at home today with my youngest who has pink eye. She couldn't have picked a nicer day to give me an extra day off. The temp here in Bean Town in in the high 50's (thats 14.5 c for my Canadian friends), so I'm planning on sitting out on my deck and reading for a bit then going for a ride once my wife gets home. Expert 4269 | Subject: RE: Beer Drinker Appreciation Society - Open mirthfuldragon - 2012-12-22 9:29 AM Good morning everyone. Today I hit the pool; it's brick day, which usually means swimming and then spin class. I've been struggling in the water, mostly due to having no real experience, so I have been focused on getting the form right. Today, I am happy to report, my flutter kick finally clicked into place - I was having difficulty keeping up the fast pace of the kick in relation (or rather, not in synchronization with) the freestyle stroke, and today things seemed to fall in place - good kick, plenty of body rotation in the breath pattern, and the stroke is feeling smoother than ever. I'm very happy with it - 1,500 good yards. All that kicking left me totally gassed for spin class though - so I coupled my best swim ever with my worst ride every . Charles: You need to focus on the positive and cut yourself some slack! Mastering your stroke is the hardest technique to master in Tri and you are doing it. So, celebrate that. Having the energy to complete the brink - well that will come in time. You won't even really have to work on it - all you've got to do is put forth the effort and it will happen. So, most importantly, what beer are you drinking tonight to celebrate your victory? |

Expert 925 Timmins, ON. Canada | Subject: RE: Beer Drinker Appreciation Society - Closed With some help from Bobby, I got myself onto a plan. Thanks Bobby. The Hal Higdon Novice Half plan is what I am going to try to follow, with a couple on ramp weeks and maybe some doubled weeks as breaks. 18 Weeks til the event and it is a 12 week plan. So Ill have to tweak it to fit it. Should be good though. First run of the plan went off tonight without a hitch, a really nice 4K, but I felt a certain spring in my feet. I am feeling good about this plan. Back is still giving me some issues and I am thinking about some acupuncture from my Naturopath, which has helped before. |

Veteran 706 Illinois | Subject: RE: Beer Drinker Appreciation Society - Closed A good day today, overall. My strength training plan transitions to a power-building phase this week, so the strength training kicks it up a notch. My s/b/r are going to suffer, but I should be able to increase my raw power a goodly amount. I'd be happy to add 40lb to my squats, but we'll see. Got an okay run in today, which I probably would have skipped but for the 30/31 challenge. Lots going on in my personal life right now, too, since it looks like my wife and I are going to put an offer in on a very nice, almost ideal house (and what doesn't make it ideal is why we can afford it), so the next week or three is going to be interesting. Hope everyone started this week well. -Charles |

Of Course! ok how about first one to drop 5% from now (5 because it wont take too to long) gets ...bragging rights of course...and!!! Everyone who is in the side bet has to Mail the overall winner, a bottle of their favorite brew! Do you think that would fly? Mailing beer bottles cross border? you could stuff em in a box with paper and stuff??? I dont know...maybe too far fetched....but I think it would be COOL! |

I did 16 weeks for this same novice plan, ran only 3 times a week and used s/b for crosstraining. I had a few repeat weeks or hold weeks when my body told me to do so close to the end. I feel pretty strongly that you should not go beyond 11 miles training for your first 13.1. Too high an injury risk, and believe me you will make it on race day if you can run 10 miles. My longest run was 10 before the event. |

Tried and true for most people! |

Like first one to drop 10% of their weight??? what do you folks think? Sounds interesting, I assume the wager would include some type of frosty brew? Hey Jared and Justin - Love the idea of a bet connected to weight loss. Could I suggest that its not a winner takes all type of bet. Instead, what if each contentant stated a weight loss goal within a time period. For example - I need to lose 15 pounds between now and April 1(or whenever). If I drop the weight and satisfy the goal then I win. If you reach your goal - you win. Only those that don't reach their goal "lose". In the past - we've worked it so the loser paid the winners $20 in the form of a check card...If you only have a small group of people - this might work, but I've resisted suggesting a bet because I can't think of a good way for the payout to work... Thoughts? |

Thoughts? I think a check card would be easier to do than brews, just have to figure out the rules. I would want to keep it friendly and not too large a wager $20 seems about right. On another note, has anyone else had issues logging their workouts here on BT? Seems like every time I try to log a workout it takes forever for the training log to load and I have to refresh it several times. Anyone else having the same problem? suggestions? Thanks! |

Things have just been crazy busy and I hardly know which way is up. The good news is that I joined our local Tri club and they have a swim every Monday night. I think it's just what I need to get the confidence back that I'm a better swimmer than I have been thinking. First swim was tonight and all the people there were just fantastic. I was the only new person but that's okay. |
