I hope life is getting back to normal for everyone.  What's on tap this weekend?  We know about Emerson's big plans--just a little 26.2.  My tri club is doing a computrainer ride tomorrow which should be fun.  We've got 2 groups of 8 going.  Other than that, I'm not sure what I'll get into this weekend.

Sounds like an exciting plan for Sunday! What about everyone else?  Is it that boring of a weekend?  No posts all day?  That's a new record for us.

Julie - Have a GREAT TIME!!!! I wish I could go with you!

And yes, I've thought about writing that exact quote in my blog. And repeating it about 100 times. LOL

On tap for today -> "Werk." I was hoping to get a swim in, but I may settle for some T.I.T.S. (my challenge team this month). Also, I really should get outside today - it's about 58 F out there, and I'm thinking it's a perfect day to take the dog for a good walk.

Hey Julie, yep shoveling snow again. Makes you wonder why people live here. Too, think I moved us back here. Were was my head. Well, enough whining, my folks are getting older they look to me to help more, so I guess there was a sound reason. Hope you enjoy the racing, wish I could join you guys. Hope everyone has had a restful and playful wknd. Mike

Well, it is Sunday night...I got in my Saturday workout...barely, got in my Sunday run, not early enough, changed plans and got in a trainer ride instead of a swim because there was a swim meet at the pool and I would have gotten stuck in a crowded small pool with slow swimmers, and barely any homework...oooops...it is not going to be a fun week writing two papers by Thursday...I am the queen of procrastination except for training...that I always seem to get done on time I wonder why   Hope everyone else had a more productive weekend than me!!

Had a great time at the Lost Dutchman marathon.  Julie, at 10:18 your time, 11:18 my time, I was approaching mile 26.  You were dead on to think that I was near finishing the race.  In short, PR 4:24:48 gun time, 4:24:38 (+/-) start to finish.  29 minutes ahead of my last PR and an hour better than last year.  I will post the full race review tomorrow.

Thanks for all the support.  What a difference a year of good training makes!

My day started at 4:00 AM so I am off to bed...

I will catch up with everyone a bit later. Just wanted to stop by before getting into work.
I was sick last week with the ear thing, Dr. gave me a nasal steriod to shrink swelling so my ear could drain all the fluid in there, I'm feeling better on that point.

I had a Uncle pass away so on Friday, Sat and Sun I spent time with everyone and it was great to see my family from NJ, San Francisco and Martinsville, IN... I hadn't seen these family members in years, so it was time well spent.

I have Lasik Thursday on both eyes so I won't workout or be on here Friday, Sat...
Eric - did you have both eyes done at one time????? Makes me a bit nervous.

I miss all of you and hope to be back to normal this week with logging and keeping track of your progress....

Have a great Monday!!!!

Amy in cold/windy IN.

No workouts for today.  Just taking some walks...

I posted my race log:

Race: Lost Dutchman Marathon

Thanks for all the nice notes of encouragement!  It makes a difference and I appreciate it.  Yesterday was a real confidence builder for going forward!  I will be back at it after a day or two.  Today is just lots of walks.  I may hit the bike or the pool tomorrow...   but no running.

Getting back to normal.  I look forward to catching up with everyone.  Have Chris and Nathen dissapeared?  I have not seen anything from them or on the blog in a while?

I am supposed to run tomorrow -- 20 minutes -- get the gears moving again.  We will see...

Amy

I did get both eyes done at once, on a Thu afternoon. I was back at work for most of the day on Fri and was 20/20 within about 15 hrs of the procedure. I'm somewhere around 20/15 now.

Hey guys--sorry for my extended absence.  I've had somewhere on light-duty working for me and she's been using my computer to do data entry. I've been off doing other stuff and not sitting behind the desk for most of the last week.  She's about done with her project so I should be back soon.

How many weeks earlier is the other Olympic Tri?  You need some recovery time but not as much as an Ironman or Marathon length event.   I think one week would be too short, two may be OK, three is better, four is fine...  These are a bit of a guess in learning the nuance of training and recovery from my coach but in looking at the distances.  The swimming is the longest, the bike is OK and the run is 6 miles.  You just ran 12 and feel fine.  If you keep an easy pace, you should not undo yourself.  If you go all out and end up with massively sore muscles or an injury, you will have a hard time with the second race...  If you do end up with two back to back, just be sure the first one is at a "fun" pace, not a killer pace.

I hope this is what you are looking for...   EK

Sounds doable to me if you're careful at the first one.  You basically treat that race as a heavy training day and don't go all out.  Then, you rest and taper for the second one so that you can hammer it.  Just make sure you stay on top of your hyrdration, nutrition, and stretching during that period.  Last year, I had 2 stretches where I did 3 races in 5 weeks but 2/3 were sprints.  I took about 5-6 weeks in between those periods of insanity to chill out and let my body recover.

Boy, just a couple of posts in three days.  We are slacking off.  I think that Chris and Nathan have evaporated.  I have read all the rest of your logs and we seem to be plugging along well.  I am feeling very good and get to run a whole 35 minutes tomorrow.  Yahoo...  Well, my coach is my coach for a reason.  I will put some good time on the bike on Sunday.  It is supposed to be 79 and sunny.  Sounds like a couple of bottles of HEED, some Thermalyte with some sunscreen for grins.  I cannot wait!

The Lost Dutchman photos are up:  "V" for victory over stroke and cancer!!!!!!

Yes, I do ham it up for the camara....

Have a good weekend everyone! Emerson

Those are GREAT pictures Emerson!!  Looks like you were doing really well out there and having fun!  Congrats again on the big achievement!

Well next week is going to be a tricky week for training.  Monday is going to be a hugely busy day from 9 am to probably 8 or 9 at night...just not sure when that second workout is going to get done.    Two papers and a test, plus all the rest of the other homework...school sometimes bites!  But good thing I am getting out this semester...there are rumors of a 7.5% tuition hike...which would bring the cost of a year up to 10 grand!!!!!!!  ick

Well have a good weekend everyone... I need to go get breakfast and get going with my day

No posts...

What a busy group we must be.  Just finished hosting a wine dinner for 46, opened with presecco, then 12 wines, then port... I don't think I will be doing any workouts early...  There is no pain in the Knowles household tonight...  I am going to sleep in. Not getting up until 6:30 AM... well, off to melt into my bed...   I hope there are no black whirlies tonight, I hate those...

Have a good weekend everyone... Emerson

Hi Guys! Quick posting. I haven't had a "day off" from work since January. And the scary thing is - I'm just falling further and further behind.

Needless to say, my training has been almost nonexistent. Fortunately, I have the stationary bike, so I've settled for getting a couple of miles in as often as I can.... I think the odometer is really messed up on it though, because it says that I've done 5 K in like no time at all. Since I'm a wimpy biker, I'm sure I'm not on world record pace -> Which means the odometer is messed up. LOL

And now - a shocking announcement from me:

In fact, things are so crazy at work that I've announced that I will NOT be running the March Challenge. Unfortunately, I simply don't have the time.

That said, it's possible that Cat will be organizing a March Challenge. It may be a PEEPS challenge. Yeah, you know - Peeps. Those little marshmallow things that are popular around Easter time. Losing teams will probably have to display a Peeps avatar. If you search the internet, you can find yellow Peeps, blue Peeps, pink Peeps. And, of course, there are more macabre Peeps - such as those with their heads bitten off, or ones that have suffered a horrible demise in the microwave.

(OK, I admit it. I shorted out one evening around 7 PM, and just left work. I got home and played on BT. I figured that since I was so far behind, an hour or two of "relaxation" wouldn't make a difference.... That's when we had the PEEPS discussion. And when we all started doing Google searches on Peeps - and finding YouTube videos of microwaved Peeps. )

Happy Sunday. (Yes, I'm going to do some work now. But it's from home, at least.)
