I had a friend who got chased by a beaver when she was out on a trail run.  It still cracks me up every time I think about it!

Ummmm yeah...  too easy....  let it go....

Well, at least I'm not the only one with a mind in the gutter.

Heh.  I read the first two books in that series in about 2 days.  Such fun and easy reads!  If you're looking for another fun and easy, perfect for Halloween read, check out Breathers: A Zombie's Lament.  I was browsing in Barnes and Noble and came across it on a "Halloween Reading" display.  Really enjoyable read.

Thanks for the recommendation!  I'll have to add it to my reading list.  Right now, as soon as I finish the Sookie series, I'm planning to start the Black Dagger Brotherhood series.  After that will be the Joe Pitt series by Charlie Huston.  Yeah, I'm on a vampire reading kick.  LOL

For those of you in cold weather areas that still train outside we have a Crappy Winter Weather Challenge going on again this winter (sorry Southern Hemisphere I know it is summer there now (or close to it)).

Here is the link to it :

http://www.beginnertriathlete.com/discussion/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=183367&posts=19#M2456766

Runs from November 1st through April 30th.

Yeah see.... I used to live in a cold weather area. Then I moved. South. Wayyyyyyyy south.

So now, I can't participate in your Crappy Winter Weather Challenges. But believe me, I'm *not* going back north for it.

It was 70 F here today.

He's not driving 4 hrs each way for a dozen donuts. He's driving it for the TOTAL EXPERIENCE. There's the initial run, followed by choking down 12 donuts, followed by attempting NOT to puke on the return run, while dodging puddles of puke left by other competitors, and of course, the overall craziness of 3000 competitors, many of whom are crazy-college students still hungover from the party the night before.

Yep. I gotta believe he's going for the total package.

Of course, he's already doing the Reindeer Run in December. It involves a 5K and eating a stack of pancakes....

Driving 4 hrs for a party, now that's a different story.

I know there's more to it than just donuts. My comment was meant a little tongue-in-cheek there. Still, if I'm puking, I'd prefer it was due to beer consumption rather than donuts.

Heh, my comment was a little tongue-in-cheek as well. Unless you define "TOTAL EXPERIENCE" as puking up twelve glazed donuts while dodging puke piles left on the ground by previous pukers.

Ewwww.

Actually, I prefer donuts to beer.

movingsouth - 2009-10-12 11:54 AM EVIL mates-  I was away for the weekend - but I ran, on the beach.  Do I get extra points to slogging through the sand?  It was about 1/3 of my run.  Super slow, but what a workout!  I've updated the spreadsheet for those missing miles at last count and am now off for another few miles!

-Cynthia

I think running on the beach should count for double.

Last time I ran on the beach, I struggled, while various and sundry folks breezed by me with nary an ankle turn.

How do they do that?

Simple.

1) Move to an apartment on the beach.
2) Practice running on the beach every day.
3) After a year, invite a non-beach-living friend to visit you, and smirk at them when they ask how you can run on the beach like that.

Okay, I broke down and went to the hardware store and got a paintbrush.  First coat of Aqua Breeze is on the walls.  The lighting in Alex's room sucks so I will for sure have to put on a second coat.  I am sure I didn't get great coverage cause I couldn't see!  I hope she likes the color!

But, if the lighting in her room is that bad.... Will she even SEE the color?

Ughh - I hate painting...  Probably because that is how I supported myself during college for a year... 2 bedroom apartment - $65.  Took me two hours...

SIXTY-FIVE BUCKS?

Wow. Can I hire you? 'Cause I just got an estimate on painting my former house. And it sure wasn't anywhere near $65!

So.... how much would I have to pay you to paint my house now?

'Cause I'm thinking you're probably STILL cheaper than what this other guy is asking.

I need to re-adjust my times to run!  Just finished a 4 mile run in the cloudy fog - lovely.  My run distances are starting to increase the rest of the month, so I should be on good pace to complete my goal!

Aqua breeze -- Nice.  We painted both our daughters' rooms two years ago in bright colors.  Now my oldest is 12 and wants black/red/grey walls   The difference between 5th grade and 7th grade has been crazy!!!  What happened to webkinz??  Now it is all about vampires and anime!

Grump.

The gym called to say childcare is closed for 24 hour to disinfect... apparently one of the staff was at work with H1N1.  Argh.

When am I supposed to run??

Please note my concern is foremost about my run needs, NOT about the chance my kids were exposed.

Sorry! What a bummer, hope you can get it figured out! At the university (work) swine flue is raging, or maybe it's everyone's convenient excuse to miss class... But I have seen some really sick folks. Nasty bug. Even though it would probably be pretty benign for someone like me I still don't want to get it.

Hope you can find some time to run!

Off the forum for one day and you guys racked up several pages! Can't keep up with all the conversations!

I am off for an 8 miler... we'll see how it goes, our area has been racked by storms all night with more on the way. Don't mind running in the rain, especially since it is still so warm, just not to excited about the thunder and lightning!
