mndymond - 2010-08-07 12:35 PM Well I spent the morning in bed...reading.

Haha. Going to head out now...bike and swim....

My neck is still bothering me from a few days ago. I need a massage...Neeaaalll? Innocent

actually sounds like a nice morning!

I am taking a quick break from yard work, but time to go get back at it!  It's cloudy but no rain yet.

I am supposed to run and bike today, but I don't know if I can fit everything in.  Just not enough time.....

I feel like a scatter brain. Oh life decisions...MSc./ PhD? Just MD...Student for life? Just talked with an MD/PhD...he's doing his PhD in the middle of med school. He's been working on his PhD for about 5 yrs now...yeahhh.. (mine would not be that long--3yrs) I do like research...but its frustrating (as you may have noticed...I'm slightly frustratable)...ack? Ok...I'm done thinking about this for now. Chillax.

Anyways...did a spin for an hour and then a 2km swim. Felt decent, but still tired. Ha. Its going to be a low key night. Have a tension headache...still in need of a massage...and to chillax.

I have a feeling that the person collected the recipe in Alaska, and there are blueberries in Alaska.

It is a basic crumb coffee cake with blueberries.  And so good.

Alaskan Blueberry Coffee Cake

1 1/2 c All-purpose flour

3/4 c Sugar

2 1/2 ts Baking powder

1 ts Salt

1/4 c Vegetable oil

3/4 c Milk

1 Egg

1-1/2 c Blueberries (fresh or frozen)

1/3 c All-purpose flour

1/2 c Brown sugar, firmly packed

1/2 ts Cinnamon (or more to taste)

1/4 c Firm butter (1/2 stick)

In a medium mixing bowl, blend together 1-1/2 cups flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, oil, milk, egg and 1 cup blueberries. Beat thoroughly for 30 seconds and spread in a greased round 9x1-1/2-inch pan or an 8x8x2-inch pan.

Combine 1/3 cup flour, brown sugar, cinnamon and butter. Sprinkle over batter and top with the remaining berries. Bake in a 375 degree oven for 25 to 30 minutes, until done. Don't overbake. Serve warm with butter or honey.

Serves 8.

Note: May takes a bit longer to bake than what is in the instructions,
but it is worth the wait!

Spent all day yesterday on the motorcycle.  Left the house at 7am and did not get back until 10pm.  I figured there was at least 9 hours on the bike, maybe a bit more.

We did a parade in the morning, so that was slow going, but then joined our motorcycle club for a ride to Rome, GA, then back to Buford for dinner.  We put in 240 miles on the motorcycles.  Longest I have ever ridden.  Woke up in the middle of the night with my left leg cramping and having spasms.  Not fun.  Doing okay now.

No problem.  You could have found it on the web yourself.  That is how I originally stumbled across it.  Our book club was discussing a book a couple of years back that was based in Alaska and we all tried to make Alaska themed food.  That is when I found it.

Haha. I have internet recipe finding ADD. If I start searching for stuff, I end up an hour later with like 60 recipes that I originally had not been looking for.

My blah day turned into a BANG day all of the sudden. I just got home from spending the last 18 hours in the hospital with a friend who literally fell out last night. She toppled over all of the sudden not breathing and totally unresponsive. 911 on the phone being very kind (It is one thing to be trained, it is another thing to DO rescue breathing on a friend) and EMTs that arrived really quickly made it all better.  A fun time Saturday night in the emergency room. NOT!! Tuns out she had a huge A-fib incident. Now for all the tests to find out if it is a one time thing or permanent thing.

I am taking a nap. I'll check in later or tomorrow.
