mbasta - 2010-10-15 12:19 AM The only fiction that comes to mind that I really enjoyed was Memoirs of a Geisha.

I've started reading classics so that I don't sound so dumb when I talk to normal people. I bought Lolita, Animal Farm, Lord of the Flies, and Fareinheight 451. I like the fiction books that speak to real issues.

Read: I'm a bore? LOL

In defense of the bore, I also enjoy fun things such as triathlon, kayaking, rafting, roller coasters, partying, and Halloween.

ME TOO!!!! I LOVE ROLLER COASTERS <=== adrenaline junkie.

No candy corn here though. I wonder if I could make some?

How are the coasters there? We have the Behemoth now!!! It sent my friend away in an ambulance (panic attack) and almost sent my mom there. She said she'll never do it again and gave me hell for making her ride it.

Bali has no coasters. Jakarta has a couple (would be almost like kiddie coasters in N. America though) and some other wild-ish rides.

We do have killer whitewater rafting, though.

That's way better! A coaster that's unpredictable.

Yes, and like me, you might wind up realizing you CAN swim uphill--if you have to. Heh.

All right, enough draggin gmy feet.

I need to go to the bank so they can tell me I don't have any money and I can say great, can I have some then?

Then, maybe, I'll go to the doctor.

XOXO and have a great evening and day!!!

Hope all goes well and have a lovely weekend. I probably won't be on here over the next couple of days so see you Monday!

You have a lovely weekend too! Oh, and Friday I guess!

You have a good weekend.

And that bedtime is self imposed. I believe that rest is critical for peak mental and physical performance. Two things that I'll be lacking tomorrow!

rh8463 - 2010-10-14 11:46 PM I think most people here are great. I have learned to stay out of supplement debates though because a lot of people believe a lot of stuff and it frustrates me, added to which I bite too easily when people aggravate me when I should know that it doesn't matter what I say they will never back down. So I just avoid them now and everyone is happy

Giving suppliment advice to people brainwashed to believe suppliment is the only way is like giving fitness advice to parents and husband in my experience.

Very very very true.
I have, in the past, dug up all sorts of papers for friends even, thinking that maybe they will believe it if its not coming from me - no joy of course!

Actually, my pet topic right now (after cancer "wonder" cures) is childhood vaccination. I have come across so many people recently who don't believe in it or are very concerned because of the amount of negative press that I am writing an opinion piece which our external relations office have promised to pitch to the papers here when its done.
Its taking some time though as I have to keep reminding myself I can be opinionated in it, I dont have to be calm and accept everyone elses viewpoint for a change!

What are your thoughts on the new HPV vaccination for 10 year old girls?

I agree that the standard tried and true vac's are great (measels, rubella... etc), but I have mixed feelings about the up and coming ones because I don't know anything about it.

Oh goodness, thats a tough one! Youve caught me out as I don't know a whole lot about the HPV vaccine either, except that I hear its a pretty decent one....I think I will need to look some stuff up next week... I don't think they are rolling it out for girls that young here, at least yet, but my gut feeling would be that its a good thing (no evidence yet though!).
I get frustrated with the whole MMR thing, and peoples lack of responsibility when it comes to the routine childhood vaccines. I don't think they realise how their children may be safer because others are vaccinated but they are letting the side down with regards to herd immunity. Plus, as with everything, people believe a LOT of BS.

Oh boy, Rachel...  you shoud see me argue with my inlaws on this one...  My MIL and SIL are dead set against them.  We stop speaking occasionally when they get on the kick of telling me and my DH how we are hurting our kids by getting them vaccinated.  My kids are up to date on their shots and last year I couldn't get them the flu shots quick enough.  My daughter ended up having her second set of febrile seizures from her temp spiking when she got the swine flu.  At New Years, my mother in law started spouting off at dinner about how the drug companies were making up the swine flu epidemic just to poison us with their vaccines (her words exactly).  I said you mean the swine flu my whole family had?  She backtracked to say that she didn't mean the flu wasn't real, just that it wasn't that bad.  No one was really getting that sick.  I said you mean the flu that caused your granddaughter to have another seizure?  We almost had to leave before the ball dropped.  But that woman makes me so mad!!!!

Not too much this weekend, which is actually a good thing.  We have lots to get done around the house and never seem to find weekends to get it done.  My daughter has an Artworks Night at her school tonight that I'll probably take the girls to.  My daughter may have a friend over on Sunday too.  They have been begging me every day when I pick her up to let her friend come over because they want to make a movie.  And they want me to film them and put it on DVD's.  They are 6 (or almost 6) and apparently have a script...  I have NO idea what this is about or how it even came up, so if this happens it shoudl be pretty interesting!!

How about you?

I know what you mean.  I'd love to get the family out for a walk too.  We have two nice parks near us where the kids could collect lots of pretty leaves.  I just hope it dries out enough.  IT's a wet mess here right now.

That's too bad. I don't like walking around in muck while wearing running shoes.

When it rains here my primary running area floods. I went once during one of the heaviest downpours I've ever seen and I had to detour at least 4 times to complete a loop around the park. It wasn't well designed to handle rain.
