Jimmyb-where are you in Michigan?  Still waiting for winter in southeast Michigan.

ITS A GIRL!!!

I have a granddaughter, born this morning at 3:13am New Mexico time, Avery Marie!!

To celebrate, I got my hair cut and colored.  I have to look like a hot granny when we visit on Saturday!!

It's SATURDAY! I hope you have a wonderful day meeting your grandyummykittygirly!

For the record, I am quite certain you are a GILF. You know, generally speaking. Heh.

ETA: It's almost Saturday here. But whatever. You should celebrate all week long and forever.

Yeah! Gongrats on the new baby AND GILF status!!!!!

Congrats grandma!!!

Ok so night before race questions...

There is a 2 and 2:15 pace group, I'm debating trying to hang with the 2 group and see what happens, primary/public goal is sub 2:10 optomistic goal is sub 2...  Thoughts of the manatees?

After working to day in the weather that I'll be getting tomorrow any sleeves will definitely NOT be going anywhere so I'm planning running tights with shorts, for GU's and anything that does come off, t-shirt with light pull over jacket, gloves, a wool cycling beanine, which doesn't quite cover my ears and headband to cover ears and to be able to take off beanie if I get warm.

Anything else I need to be concerned with?  1st pure running event so feel free to treat me as noob...

Also gift from the wife when I got home:

Awww, what a sweeeet wifey!!

Have you run with a pace group before? MY personal advice is to just run your own race. Maybe start with the 2:15 and just run your race with a little personal motivation to catch the 2:00. If you start out too quick, you will suffer and more than likely not make your goal, but if you start out slightly conservative you can chase that group down in the last miles.

I always struggle with this too - I usually pick the more conservative group and then if i'm still feeling good at mile 18, i pick up the pace.  I've not used a pacer for a HM, so I don't know what mile 18 would translate to; maybe 9?

Good luck and have fun!

Good week for swimming.  Making gains and it feels pretty good.  Finally learned to stay up on the snowboard and ended up having a blast today!  I ran into a few people but everyone was very kind (at least to my face).

Hey Manatees thanks for the good will! Finished the half at 2:12 and really enjoyed the course, except the overpass at mile 8 not a fun surprise haha. Race report coming but going to enjoy delicious carbs in liquid and food forms. Happy training all!

Good job!! Injury free and a time you can be satisfied with. Nice work. Enjoy your afternoon and recover well!! Now we just have to hear from Ann, but she's in AZ and probably just finishing now.

My bad, her race is tomorrow. Oops!

Hey Manatees,

Completely random here, but i have the news on while checking BT and they're  doing one of those "what you can do in the area" bits.  Anyway, they just showed a kayak trip on a local river.  As the kayakers paddled by, up popped a manatee (and some dolphin)!

Happy weekend!

SUPER KUDOS, half-mary champ! (You're a champ 'cause you PRed!) Excellent result, which is a huge bonus in any shot at a first distance never mind a considerable one for your first solo running.

I've been avoiding the internets all day so that I wouldn't accidentally see who the top finishers in the trials were. Consider this a disclaimer if you don't know the results already. That was so fun to watch! I made my friends come watch with me even if it's the height of the NFL playoffs. I was so happy to see Meb take it! Anyway, the women are who I was really wAtching. I, personally, was pulling for goucher because I think she's a sexy child bearing beast woman. I also didn't want desi to win. Flannigan didn't surprise me at all, in fact despite my goucher love, I had a gut feeling she would win. It was also amazing to see deena Kastor out there with the best of em. What is she, 44? That gives me and probably all of the runnerS who took up running a little later in life hope...or at least motivation and a feeling that anything is possible.

Kastor is 38 along with #10 finisher, Magdalena Lewy Boulet 38 from Oakland, CA. Our tri club posted the top 20 in each field. Meb, who won the men's is 36 and also one of two 36 year old men who finished top 20. Yes, there's lots of hope for you, Adrienne!

I watched too and, as always, was totally amazed by all of them.  I was pulling for Flannigan to win, so I was happy with the result.  I was also happy with Meb's win.  Can't wait for the Olympics!
