mr2tony - 2012-10-18 10:16 AM So, TAN, what's new?

Nothing ... waiting to have my boobs squished between two glass plates.  This place looks like a resort country club not a radiology facility.

That's the new trend. Back in my day we went to the dentist. Now we go to a dental spa.

Today is the "Great California Shake Out."  Basically it is a statewide earthquake drill.

My company is participating so we are just waiting to all file outside to stand in the parking lot.  Should be a good waste of 30 min or so.

Odd, I would like something of mine squished between two boobs...  Coincedence?

We have to do that in downtown Chicago sometimes. Like once a year. They make every building evacuate and then time it. We're on the 49th Floor so it takes a while to get down the stairs. And then trying to get back up to the office takes forever. It's not fun.

My favorite is "shelter in place".  We are supposed to just sit out our desks (as if we weren't already).  It must fulfill some bureaucratic requirement.

We have lots of opportunities to address what to do in natural-disaster situations in Bali. They are called Monday through Sunday.

Ouch!  That is rough!

Guess I'll be thankful I'm on the first floor in a 2 story building.

My kids school has a variation of this where they shut all the window blinds, turn off the lights and all the kids have to lay on the ground.  I think they call it a stranger danger drill.  When I was in school, we called that nap time!

Sadly, it's for when some psycho goes psycho in the school. They teach them to lay there and be quiet and stay down so the shooter thinks the room is empty or if he or she shoots into the room, then the kids won't get hit.

That's a bit of a sad social commentary on our society right there.

On a happier note, bewbs and bajingoes.

I can remember being filed into the hallway to crouch down in high school in like 2000 - and someone said it would protect us from a nuclear blast. Um, no. Radiation doesn't work like that.

Thanks for making me feel REALLY old.

I tried to go to high school in 2000, but for some reason all the kids were lying in the floor with the lights out and the shades drawn - that's the only thing I was able to see before being escorted out by the nice SWAT team that just happened to show up.

You are right about the radiation but the interior position was intended to protect you from fallout, which is radioactive particulate, and from the building collapsing around you from the acoustic shock wave. One of the major long-term health hazards is ingesting or inhaling fallout.

They still do those in the elementary schools here. My daughter had one last year. She said that they all got under their desks and curled up. She said they stayed in their room because it didn't have windows. I asked her what if they were in a room with windows. She said they had to all go into a bathroom. I asked her what they were told to do if they had to go into the bathroom. She said "not play around and not to act silly".

So kids....during a tornado, don't act silly.

Been through the breast cancer support role too many times for my liking. My grandmother died of it before I was born when she was just 42 and my mom only 20. Plus my mom's 2 sisters and 4 friends so far. Way too many times.

I can't tell if you took a picture of the procedure itself or the resulting x-ray image.  My original request was for the x-ray.  Kind of interesting from a medical awareness point of view, no?  And a possible subject for creative photographic composition of the type you are known for.  With reflections or thought provoking background content.
