Eh, people say snowboarding is easier on the knees... but I dunno about that. I manage to hurt after either one... so I can't really say which is worse. You fall on your knees a lot more on a snowboard, so it seems to me that it would be harder on them. I guess you just can't twist them like you can on skis.

If you worry about getting hurt, you will. Just go and don't worry about it. I skied a black diamond slope my 3rd time skiing. It wasn't pretty, but I did it.

Kiley, is that how you hurt yourself? I never really knew what you did to hurt your leg...

You can hurt your knees snowboarding, just in very different ways.  I bruised my tailbone really bad the first weekend I was snowboarding and have also seen many compound fractures in the forearm from it.

I've tried both.  I'm a better skiier, but I've been doing it much longer than snowboarding.

I grew up skiing and tried snowboarding only once.  I determined I am not a big fan of sittinng on my butt in the snow.  I've stuck to skiing since.

Back when I was a mid-westerner (who came up with the term mid-west anyway?) I liked cross country skiing.  Mostly because falling down was an acceptable way to stop.

Trying to work out me schedule for the next few weeks....  It's a nice distraction from actual work.

Oh, if no one saw them yet, I was bored yesterday afternoon, and I posted a link to a great article on RT discussing six really good running workouts.

Well yesterday was an aboslute waste.  Didn't do anything.  So today, I'm putting in at least a 3 miler at lunch.  Completely unscheduled but I need it.

I think you might be missing the point of this whole thing

Marathoning is an exercise in delayed gratification. The most satisfying moments in marathoning happen when we achieve a goal that we have been working toward for the better parts of our lives.

Even the "Couch To Podium" types who debut with Sub-3 marathons, still spend years reaching for a goal that most times, seems just beyond the reach.

"If you want to win something, run the 100 meters. If you want to experience another life, run a marathon."

8.23 at lunch.

Minor GI issues made for a slow, and somewhat painful, finish.

Weren't we just discussing that very topic yesterday?

Assuming I go, it's a 10k trail run.  Second in the fall series, the first was weekend before last.
