Veteran![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Ok, I joined a mentoring group...maybe I'll hold myself more accountable now that I've got 2 groups to respond to!! LOL! One can hope! Besides, they needed a little chick flavor to add to their mix...I joined DG's Group...most of the guys are a little new to triathlon and been through some weight loss so I don't think they'll be all "hard core" like some of them..so I think it will be a good fit! Back to work! Have a great day everyone! |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Wednesday weigh-in. Monday I was 135.5 (hurrah!!!), Tuesday I was 135.6, today 139.6. I did NOT gain 4 pounds since yesterday. This makes me crazy. I think I will see what it is tomorrow and maybe use that weight. |

Expert![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Leah ..its called Wednesday Weigh- in. You have to use your number for today. Just think - next week you will have an 8lb loss!! Ok - I would love to use next weeks weight but my weight today is 229. One whole pound!!. I have to admit that I have been terrible with the eating this week. I don't know why. I have been busy at work so I should be eating less. Last night I ate great all day and then at 8:30 decided to have two hot dogs and spaghetti...what the heck!! I really need to schedule my workouts for a specific time or they are not getting done..This is going to be hard to do the next three weeks with vacation coming up. As far as new years resolutions - I am huge on planning them and not so much on the follow through. Mentor Groups - what are they and what is the benefit? I have seen the groups here on BT but was wondering. Swimp3 - does anyone have one of these? I was thinking about asking for one for xmas. |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Leah week is an example of why I dislike weekly weigh ins. I prefer monthly (I'll be getting my new scale soon). Mentor groups are fun it gives you instant virtual BT friends, motivation and inspiration. This group is sort of an informal Mentor Group where we are all mentor/mentees. I use H2O audio interval with an ipod shuffle 2 Gen. It makes the pool more fun. http://www.h2oaudio.com/ |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I took today off work to get in a lot of training. I started at 5am with a 5+ mile run to Crossfit and from Crossfit to meeting Chuck for breakfast. (I love one-way runs!) I did a few household chores and then was off on the bike shortly after 9am for a pretty tough bike ride that should not, at this stage of my training, be as difficult as it was. I have not yet come to love the bike. Then at 12:30 went to a Masters swim class at the Rose Bowl. And now my cat and I are ready for our naps. I would like to do this one day a month between now and November. I wonder if this sort of thing would be considered a good use of training time. I also wonder if bricks have to be one workout immediately after the other or would today be considered a multi-brick session. Have a good day everyone. |

Expert![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Bricks should be performed one after the other - especially the bike to run. Part of the reason is that the legs need to get used to going from the biking muscles to the running muscles in quick succession. I believe you are probably getting most of the benefit of a brick by breaking it up on the same day..but there is definitely a different feeling to the legs changing disciplines quickly. |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Hi everyone just a quick check in just trying to get caught up on some things. My weigh in for this week is 187... I think that's -2. |
![]() ![]() |
Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Hey gang. What a day. First my 2 pound gain and now I have no sitter for my evening work out. Bummer. So now I'm trying to decide what type of exercise to do in my living room. (no trainer) My options are Biggest loser exercise DVD, sit ups - push ups - curls, or a combination of both. I have changed my activity level on my food log and it took me down to 1780 calories a day. That is probably more like it. Let's see how that number treats me. |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() You should get a Wii for the kids for Xmas and share it with them. Wii Fit, Wii Active, Biggest Loser, Yoga, Pilates are all available on the Wii, are fun and give you a good workout. I guess you get spoiled in AZ thinking you can get through the winter without a trainer but with short days it make it hard. I have a Wii, bike on trainer, recumbent bike and elliptical in house, one of these days I'll get a treadmill too. ~ AZ Sunshine ~ - 2009-12-16 11:14 PM Hey gang. What a day. Do any of you use a power meter? They are expensive, like $500-600, but you hear nothing but good about them. I am thinking about getting one, but I am afraid that it is the sort of thing where one keeps getting better bikes and stuff when they really just need to be out riding more. I really related to the part in the post about the novice biker with cadence under 85. That was me and that is what my coach is trying to change. I need to increase the resistance on my trainer. I was going to that after the first of the year, but now (after yesterday's not-so-good bike ride) I am thinking I ought to be doing it now. Anyway, thanks for posting the link to the article. It really got me thinking. And after my massive day of exercise yesterday, I overslept this morning and missed my swim workout. Oh well. |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Good morning from the chiburbs. Brrr. I was 221.6 on my sisters scale this morning. Don't know how accurate that is...new scale or actual weight gain? Puts me up 2.6 lbs from last week. There's bloat on, so maybe that explains things. Time to go xmas shopping for new clothes ![]() |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Of course I have a Power Meter, Powertap Pro+ it is the hub of the rear Mavic Open Pro Wheel, it works with my Garmin 705. It cost about $1100 during a 20% off deal at Performance Bike about 6 weeks ago. So far I have just been watching it as I do the spinerval workouts. I think my coach will have me working it next year and sending her my files. |

Veteran![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I weighed in this morning... 215.75 and I'm using the monthly excuse I don't care what anyone thinks..LOL I joined DG's mentoring group in the other forum. Looks like a good group, Kate joined the same group too!! Guess that means I really need to start logging my workouts huh?? LOL Heading out of work early for a coworker's holiday party before heading for my run. I've got the Celtic Solstice 5-miler Saturday and the weather forecast is up to 8-12 inches of snow Friday night into Saturday?!! WHAT?? I'm thinking of showing up to get some Hot Cider or Hot Spiced Wassail...good grief! We'll see how I feel tonight after the run...still working on how many layers are optimal for outdoor running! |

I had almost talked myself into $500-600, but $1100 will require more thought. It sounds like you aren't using it to capacity yet so don't know how it helps or doesn't help. Keep us informed on that. |
