pdbman - 2010-03-11 8:44 PM Interesting end to the day. Got my run in, almost five miles. Picked up dinner and my son. After eating I noticed his upper arms are pretty swollen. He over did it at the gym Tueday. They're hard as a rock so now we're sitting in the emergency room, ehich has been exciting. Some guy came in fraking out because his daughter was brought in. The nurses couldn't even look up anything because he was so threatening. Police had to take him down. Hope things turn out ok and we get some sleep tonight

Paul, I hope all is ok with your son!!!

This was from last Saturday.  This was my oldests son's first race.  The race included a 1 mile trail run and 1.5 mile singletrack loop.  He finished 2/14 overall with a time of 18:32.  As you can see, I'm very pround.  Hopefully, tiathlons are in the near future.

That is just too cool!! How old is he?

I'm super plugged up this morning.  Me and the neti pot got to know each other very well.  My ears finally unplugged for a brief moment during my shower this morning.

I'll be heading to the gym soon to teach Spinning and then I might go to the pool for a swimmm.  I need to keep on top of the swimming.  It is my weakest sport.  I get so bored and then my mind wanders and then I find myself not concentrating on my stroke which ends up injuring me.  (I have a bad shoulder.)  Anyone have any suggestions to help with the boredom while swimming?

I hope everyone has a great day!

Edited to point out that I spelled swim wrong and it made me laugh!   The "m" must have gotten stuck.

I have a love/hate relationship with mine...I use it constantly as I have serious sinus issues!!

I pushed pass my overwhelming desire to stay on the couch and went for my run.  Despite light drizzle and wind, I got it down.  5 miles.  Nothing special, but I think this is the longest I have ran post injury.

wgraves7582 - 2010-03-11 6:09 AM Alright in 2 years I am doing this race (lol) and that will score me so many points in 1 week that I won't have to workout the rest of the winter.

BTW - got my morning commute in Teamies.

If you finish that race, you are the MAN!  I'm partial to my fingers and toes, so I think I'll take a pass on that madness.

Ditto!!! I couldn't find when this takes place...is it certain times of the year cuz I gotta say, after living in AK for 3 years, you earn so much respect from me for doing this!!

Thanks.  He is my oldest: 9.  He might actually do his first tri this year too!

Last year all three of my boys did a 1k race and ran the whole distance.  I was a very proud father!

I try not to push them.  I just want them active and experience nature.  So far so good since they seem to have caught the "bug."

I love it and I know how proud you are! I have a feeling my daughter will be very active (not necessarily in triathlons although how cute is that?!)...she is only 2 and is always trying to go with me when its time to workout.  She's always grabbing her stuff (shoes, bathing suit, etc) and trying to put it on when she sees me getting ready.  Needless to say, I love hearing about other people and their kids...it is just so adorable to see kids doing this!!

mchally - 2010-03-12 12:28 PM I want to thank you all for your concern and support.  My father is doing poorly, but could still be around for several weeks. With the rate of decline over the last week suggests that he most likely will go sooner than that.

I am helping my mom clean house today.  She is anticipating a steady stream of visitors coming to visit/say goodbye.  Two ministers from our church are coming this afternoon.

I would like to go to the gym at some point.  I didn't have the motivation to go out yesterday, even though I know that I will feel better after some exercise.

OK, back to housecleaning for me.

So sorry to hear about this, Mel.  My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family during this difficult time

Oh yeah, I can relate.  If I get on the floor with the foam roller, it is game on for the little one.

tri808 - 2010-03-12 1:42 PM just finished giving blood.  I could tell that I didn't drink as much water as I should have yesterday.  Felt a little woozy when I got off the cot.

Anyway...I'll be rehydrating throughout the rest of the day.

Hopefully by tomorrow morning (19 hours from now for me) I'll be good to go for my group ride.  I won't push the pace, but I just hope I don't pass out on the climbs.

Be really careful...I had a friend do a ride the day after giving blood and he got dizzy and bit it hard.

I was a live in nanny for 3 years and occasionally the little ones and I would take a group bath in swim suits.  All my swim suits have seen a lot of time in the pool and I double them up for decency sake.  The little girl, 2 year old Lydia, would absolutely insist on wearing two swimsuits as well.  It was really funny.

Little ones so want to be just like the ones they love.

Actually...there are some pics of aforementioned bath in the Horny Melon Challenge team thread...
