Hey Ghoulies! Went for a 7km run this morning before coming to the lab. My glute is bothering me still a bit...I think I need to go invest in a handy dandy foam roller to roll out my IT bands and gluts...its this really aggravating sharp pain in my glute...not comfortable...today was more just a subtle tightness for most of the run...a few steps were painful and I needed to stop and stretch...I JUST WANT IT TO GO AWAY!!! ARGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG!!!!

TAKE CARE OF IT NOW! DO NOT IGNORE IT!!!!!

ARGGGG!!!!! I don't like this...I don't know what else to do but stretch it...and take my friends the NSAIDS to decrease any inflam...hmm...I'm worried about resting too much...its honestly not too bad, I just have been careful...definately pushed it a bit too hard on Monday when I got here...and it was sore for a few days. I'm probably being stupid, but I'm a bit stressed out about not running...haha

Relax

Deep breaths. In through the nose, out through the mouth. You will be fine. You have an AWESOME base. Missing a few days WILL NOT hurt you. A few days off may actually make you stronger.

Relax

Haha...but I took time off last week!! So not really haha? I'll be very careful though...def dont want to hurt it more!! Stretching and such seems to help! Couple more days of experimenting with it will hopefully do the trick!

wgraves7582 - 2010-05-14 11:09 AM I have been toying with an idea - let me know if you think there would be any interest!

I am riding 1700 miles from June 4th - July 3rd.

I was thinking to see if there would be any teams of say 6 that would like to try and challenge that mileage and if they do I would put $20 a team towards the LAF or another Cancer Research and if they don't the team puts in $20 to the same foundation.

What do you think????

I think that sounds like a fantastic idea

Count me in.  I think you may be safe on this one.

kcarroll - 2010-05-14 10:16 AM I am also leaving early today!!!  Going to take the afternoon off.  Meeting a friend for lunch and then who knows what.  Tomorrow is going to be nice and would be perfect biking weather, but I'm supposed to be taking it easy before Sunday's half mary.  I may go down to the shore (nearest beach is about an hour's drive) and just lounge with a good book. The bike may have to come along for a short tour.  Who knows.

What is everyone else doing, besides Ann being woozy and taking her boy fishing?

Sounds fun.  enjoy your afternoon and have a great race Sunday!  Didn't you just run a HM not too long ago

Thanks Neal.  Yeah, I did a HM 4 weeks ago.  This may not be the best idea, but am going to give it a shot.  The start/finish are 2 miles from my house.  It's flat.  And, it's a 2 loop course.  If I don't feel like I have another 6.55 after the first loop, I'll call it quits and ride Blue Betty home.

I think so.  It's either a 13.1 run and 4 mile bike, or a 6.55 run and 4 mile bike.  Both of which will earn a trip to the diner for pancakes.  A good friend and former boss from years back are also running.  The post run b'fast/catch up is what I'm looking forward to the most.

That does sound like a good part.

I know.  It is going to be hard to stay off the bike tomorrow.  There have been so few weekend days with good weather (my basic criteria for non-trainer biking).  So I'm thinking I'll head to the shore and hang out on the beach with a book.  One of the nice things about where I live.  In an hour I can be in NYC, in the mtns of PA, or on the beach.

I did a half an hour on the trainer this afternoon. I want to take a shower but we have had several storms move through. It is getting dark and has started thundering again. I also just saw that there is a tornado watch just north of us.

Maybe I should take another pain killer and just go to bed.

Or have a glass of wine on top of what you've already taken. In any case unless you are stinky, bed wins.

So go for a very quick shower (living on the dangerous side with the t-storms.)  Put on the jams. Pour a glass and put your feet up.

It's rumbling here too. I don't need a shower and just poured a glass of a nice white.  Now to think about dinner.

ironannekidd - 2010-05-14 5:43 PM I did a half an hour on the trainer this afternoon.

I do need a shower but a glass of wine sounds good.

So go for a very quick shower (living on the dangerous side with the t-storms.)  Put on the jams. Pour a glass and put your feet up.

It's rumbling here too. I don't need a shower and just poured a glass of a nice white.  Now to think about dinner.

I ordered a pizza. My husband just went to get it.

Perfect on all counts.

Yes. Yes it is.

Break in the weather before the next storm rolls in. I'm going for a quick shower.

I just put a pot of water on to boil.  A quick pasta dinner and then an early bed time.  Check in later.

Later Kim. Have fun tomorrow!

kcarroll - 2010-05-14 10:16 AM I am also leaving early today!!!

Sounds like fun!

I think so.  It's either a 13.1 run and 4 mile bike, or a 6.55 run and 4 mile bike.  Both of which will earn a trip to the diner for pancakes.  A good friend and former boss from years back are also running.  The post run b'fast/catch up is what I'm looking forward to the most.

Cool!  I did a race with post race pancakes last year.  It was phenomenal!

The race was good too!
