They have a cool water sprinkler type playground at the park! I played in it, with a bunch of kids. Hey, it was hot!

I love love love the Louisville Slugger museum, but thats b/c I'm a major baseball fan (they have the signature off the bat of EVERY PLAYER)

Churchill Downs is awesome for the history, and well, as a horse fan.

But these aren't really for young kids....and I don't recommend the bourbon tours.

The Louisville Science center is across the street from the Slugger factory. (http://www.louisvillescience.org/) The Kentucky Show is at the Kentucky Center for the Arts. It is next to the Galt House. You can also take a ride on the Belle of Louisville. Its a paddle boat.

Speaking of Louisville Slugger Museum, what else that's super-close by does any recommend for young children/ family friendly local touring?

Is the waterfront park a good place for my wife to hang out with a 6-yr-old and 8-yr-old while I ride and run?  Little HELP please

There is a children's museum across the street from the Louisville slugger museum that my 5 year-old enjoyed.

OK I am thinking about renting wheels for the race.

Zipp 404 front and 808 rear for $110

I have had a good amount of people tell me that they would make a good difference over the 112 miles.

I have basic Ritchey wheels with Gatorskins now. Any advice would be great.

Thanks

Ok for all you bike people out there I have found another place in town that will rent me 404s for the front and rear for $45.

Which is better the 404 front and 808 rear deal or the 404s on each. I just don't know the difference.

404/808 is a faster combo.

404/808 is faster, but it comes down to how much you're willing to pay for time. That combo will save you maybe 4-5 minutes over the 404 front and back. If that time is worth the extra cash to you, go for it. Otherwise the 404 set will do you just fine.

Is it really a big upgrade over the current wheels I am running? I have only rode on basic wheels an gator skins so I am just wondering if there is a real advantage.

I am assuming that these numbers are based on absolutely perfect conditions. I found this on the interweb:

404 front + 404 rear =    58-60 seconds/hour, i.e. savings of almost a minute

404 front + 808 rear =    68 seconds/hour

808 front + 808 rear =    80 seconds/hour

808 front + rear 900 disc =  92 seconds/hour

808 front + sub9 rear =     120 seconds/hour

808 front + 1080 rear =     128 seconds/hour

1080 front + 1080 rear =   144 seconds/hour

Disclaimer these are Zipp's numbers and it is old as they no longer make the 1080. Also check out this link for recommended wheels for Louisville.

Thanks for the info.

I will go with the 404/808 I have received clearance from the executive council so it should be fun to try.

Awesome.  Thanks.  Surprising to think Vince Vaughn would be at a children's museum

Over the last 3 years of cycling, training on stock wheels with gatorskins and then racing on Jet 60's or Zipps with race tires (Continental 3000GP or Michelin Pro2's and 3's) on any given day I can see an increase in the range of  .5 to .75 of a mph with the race wheels and race tires.

Per Steve King's website he will be the one announcing IM Canada. He's actually a long time announcer there. Link here: http://www2.vip.net/~stking/upto.htm

Mike Reilly's website does not show him announcing any race on the 26th. Link here: http://ironmantrivoice.wordpress.com/

He also tweeted he won't be at IMLou this year: https://twitter.com/IronmanVoice/status/235590501691179008

Not sure who it will be.

Very, very true.  All hail the Executive Council.  Mine DW is a saint letting me do two Ironmans in a months time.
