Morning!

The weekend was pretty good. Got 90% of Christmas down and up to the attic. I went for a run yesterday and when I came home BOOM! I started sneezing un uncontrollably and got all the signs of a cold. I have no idea how it can happen so very fast!

Mine was busy. Took Keri to a baseball/softball academy to work with a batting coach, had to be there at 8:00 Saturday morning. She did well, the coach said there isn't anything she'd change in Keri's swing, and she sees the ball well.

Saturday afternoon Caleb had basketball, then the 3 of them went and watched the Varsity game, I stayed home. Yesterday both kiddos had basketball games. I saw the first half of Keri's game, then had to leave to take Caleb to his game. Caleb started, for the first time, and played about half the game, that's his most playing time to date. He played well - had a couple of rebounds, and a steal. He still won't shoot. He wanted to, I could see it, he told me after he wanted to, but he wouldn't. He'll get there.

Caleb and I have the sinus drainage, sore throat, feeling lousy crud. Sucktastic!

Good morning Ghoulies.

Got my Dad moved out of his apartment and have all of his stuff stored up at my sisters house.  He is at my house right now, will fly to Oregon tomorrow for an extended stay.  While he is gone, my sister is having her basement redone into a large studio L shaped apartment for him.  In fact the room in the basement is about the size the apartment was, minus a kitchen, which he does not need as he won't cook himself anything.  They are planning on having the windows redone this spring to give him larger windows, but there are smaller windows right now.  He is just unable to live on his own, and he is in that wonderful bracket where he does not make enough money to get into a reasonable Assisted living place, but makes too much to qualify for government aid.  Got to love it.  They need to have something that is on a sliding scale to help those in-between.  Luckily, it will work out okay for him at my sisters, and as she stated, my other sister and I had our mother in our houses the last 7 years before she went into an Alzehimers unit, so she figured it was her turn.  Plus, she is the only one in NC, and it allows our father to stay close by to his network of friends.  Going to VA or to my place, would take him away from all of that.

I am off work today and tomorrow since he is at my house.  I don't want him to try and go up the stairs, those will do him in (and it is why my house would not work for him to stay in long term, and yes my sister has an outside door from the basement so he does not have to deal with stairs there.)  Chiropractor today to straighten out the back after moving day on Saturday, but otherwise I will just enjoy my time with my father when he is awake.

Kendra's got toppage! Woot woot!

I'm only mildly worried about the cutoff. Okay, really I'm a little mortified. My long run to date was about 7 miles, and it took me a little over an hour and a half. I'm hoping that even if I end up walking as much as I'm afraid I will have to, that I can still be done in about 4 hours. Ack. 3 would be my target range, though. My pace seems to be quite a bit slower during this training plan than the other half I did a few years back. But then I've also been training in freezing temps outside and I'm known to slow down in the heat. Not that 70's are HOT, but compared to the single digits I may be facing for the Team in Training exercise tomorrow morning, it's downright sweltering.

I plan to go get another 8-9 miles in tomorrow afternoon at the Olympic Ice Oval. It'llbe a balmy 50 degrees or so in there.

DO NOT WORRY ABOUT THE CUTOFF TIME! Jim and I have been running but we are SLOW. We are there to have fun. We will have fun. If they cut us off, we will just ride with cute EMTs and have margaritas!

If I try to walk the course, I may just be riding in with the EMT's myself.  Hubby wants me to agree to just do the 5 K (there is one, isn't there?) as my hip has not been cooperative.  I told him already that if I decide to try to do the 1/2 mary he is to remind me that I said I shouldn't.  I always get so excited before  race that I think I can so it.  HA.  Also, i will see the Dr. this Friday, and I know he will more than likely FORBID me to do the 1/2 mary.  Hmmmm, maybe I just won't mention it.  LOL

My birthday is the 25th. The Friday after the trip. So I'll be off for a few days, back for 2, then I'm taking my birthday off. Not sure what I'm going to do that day yet. My sister and her family are coming up in the evening, and bringing cake. We'll have dinner at my house, and the kids will play for a bit. Then on Saturday my BIL and nephew are going snowboard while my sister and niece go to the kiddos basketball games. Busy weekend.

Good Morning Ghoulies.

I went back to bed this morning.  Didn't sleep well last night.  I don't feel very rested now, but maybe in a bit when I really get going.

Had a good weekend.  Got some things accomplished, so that is always good.

Always tough times when those changes come.  Sounds like your family is doing it well.  My parents were also in that middle zone.  They moved in with one of my sisters for their last two or three years.  I flew back to Tennessee to see them several times a year, and would try to give my sister a break so she and her husband could actually get away together for a few days.  I wish I could have helped more, but my sister did an awesome job with our folks.

Enjoy your time together.

Add me to the string of gouhlies with the sniffles. I went for a run Saturday afternoon, got a good 8 miles in, then came home and almost immediately got all stuffy. Not that I wasn't mildly stuffy before the run due to the inversion. But it has only gotten worse from there. I spent the day in bed today--I had planned to go have a full day of pampering at one of the spas at a resort in Park City today, but I had to cancel because I feel so crappy.

You know you're sick when going back to bed sounds better than massages and pedis and manicures and whatnot.
