How is it scary? Lots of hills? Where do you live, BTW? Lots of hills on narrow roads that will have traffic on them. I hate road riding. I'll do mountain biking anyday. I live in western NC in the mountains. I'm the opposite. Mountain biking scares me. I'd much rather do road riding. x2 In road biking I love speed, in mtb it scares me! Funny how we are all different. I was deliberatly hit once by a car so that is the start of the fear, then there is the (until last year) 20 year avoidance of road bikes. Lack of riding on roads MAY be the issue, you think? I've been on the roads around you and it is scary to ride a road bike on them. It's even scary to drive a car on some of them wondering who is coming around the bend in the other direction and are they staying in their lane. I do like to ride the road bike on the Blue Ridge Parkway though. |

My mom's a librarian. Do you take advantage of getting first dibs on books, sometimes ahead of their release date too? She used to always bring them home early for me. Man, I miss that. No, we have contracts with the publishers that NO ONE will get a copy of any book before the release date. When the books arrive here at the branch, I have to make sure that no one goes into the crate to take any out early. Luckily I have a great staff here and they are good about not breaking the rules. If the publishers ever found out that someone got the book early from us, we would no longer get the book ahead of street date to process and then our customers would not get the books until a good week after street date. We do get to put the books on reserve just like the customers, but I usually wait a while because I have a huge stack of books already sitting by my bed to read, so I can wait. |

Go after those bastages!! Thats what I get to do with my ecological toxicology degree. That, and make the bastages clean the crap up. So who on this team doesn't have a science background? (and the scientific drinking studies don't count ) I am an artist; sculpture and ceramics, not much classic science, but a lot of inherent chemistry in glaze formulation, firing techniques, stuff like that. I love science and have a soft spot for scientists, nerdy lab coats and pocket protectors can be a real turn-on . I was just looking at your work; I like it a lot! Have you ever tried to make working boats? They would be a great melding of form and function! Actually I started with real boats years ago. At the time I was doing a different style of sculpture but got bored with that and decided I needed to meld my favorite things, boat building and making art, so was born those sculpture boats. I still do some real ones on the side, and sometimes use the functional ones in my sculpture installations. That really bothers some purists; but that's the part I love the most. Thanks for taking a look at my work! |
