If you want to see me with my nieces and granddaughter before the Nutcracker last Saturday, go to my Facebook page.  My sister just put one picture of the five of us and one of just the girls on my Facebook page.  (I don't know how to do this myself.)   My name is Leah Davis and not sure what else you would need for an identifier as I am quite sure that I am not the only Leah Davis out there.  And then you can all agree that I have the best looking little girl relatives.  (Well, two of them are now old enough to vote, but they are still little girls to me.

i think it needs the 310XT, 705 or 500 models. I think the 305 doesn't have a field to measure the power data. It does have it's own display. I do use it to monitor power on the bike. I just haven't starting analyzing the data yet. That's one of the things I want to do with my coach come January.

LeahDD - 2009-12-17 3:54 PM

losta - 2009-12-17 10:34 AM Of course I have a Power Meter, Powertap Pro+ it is the hub of the rear Mavic Open Pro Wheel, it works with my Garmin 705. It cost about $1100 during a 20% off deal at Performance Bike about 6 weeks ago. So far I have just been watching it as I do the spinerval workouts. I think my coach will have me working it next year and sending her my files.

Do you know if it works with the Garmin 305?  And $1100???  I had almost talked myself into $500-600, but $1100 will require more thought.  It sounds like you aren't using it to capacity yet so don't know how it helps or doesn't help.  Keep us informed on that.

Yeah, well, when you have a common name like Davis, you get used to this.  Think of my poor dad - John Davis.  Do you know how many John Davises there are in the world?  Not counting my brother.  Lots.

Anyway, I changed (I think) my profile to say my hometown is Sierra Madre, California.  My profile picture has me with my granddaughter, a little blonde girl in a red dress.   I'm not really good at that FB stuff and get my sister to upload pictures or whatever.  I don't play the Farmville game, look for eggs or play any of those other games.

Hey gang.  I did a ride at the YMCA tonight.  I'm pretty happy with it.  18 miles in 61 minutes!  Today I worked on my RPMS and tried to keep them over 85.  I feel like I got a great work out in.

I joined a mentor group.  I'm pretty excited about it so far.  The mentor named Damon put together a tri group in Atalanta.  He is training for IMKY.  He is big on HR, RPMS and Periodzation??  I don't know what all this means but I think it is exactly what I need.  He said in his Atlanta group he didn't have one DNF.  That was music to my ears.  I'm anxious to learn more about all of these things.

This weekend I'm doing a 40 mile ride.  We have a Christmas party and don't want to be too wiped out.  Long run on Sunday.  I think I'm giong to downgrade my run and do the HalfMary.  My biggest fear is hurting myself before the HIM.  I just don't feel properly prepared.  I will feel GREAT if I kick butt in the Half!!

Debb, thanks for sharing your coaches website!  That was a great post.  I've got her as a favorite now.

I ran to Crossfit and then did Crossfit.  That was the morning.  Then I worked most of the day and then wrapped presents, got my nails done and now here I am lounging on the couch enjoying the fire in the fireplace and playing with my computer.

My first real bike ride with my bike coach is tomorrow morning.  I'm looking forward to it, yet a little nervous.  He told me not to worry, but we will see.  I will let you know.

Lisa - I want to hear all about your Crossfit.

OK, so I woke up at 6am to see if I was going to my run this morning. I saw the snow blowing SIDEWAYS outside my window and that my road wasn't plowed at all...um, that would be NO. Got texts from my girls saying they weren't going because it would be too dangerous to attempt to drive downtown. I went back to bed and woke up a couple of hours later. Took my dogs outside and lost them in the snow..oh yeah, it's still falling. We've had at least 8 - 10 inches by now and now they're saying 20-30 inches?!?! Are you freakin kidding me?? I wish I had snowshoes right now!!! So I'm snowed in for the weekend it looks like, it takes them days to ever plow the cul-de-sac I live on but the main road?? They haven't plowed that even ONCE yet so that means my little road will be forever!! Good thing I'm on the corner lot and I've got a 4Runner! But I'm in for the day so it looks like I'll be making chili in my crock pot and working on cleaning!! After I take a little nap though! Hee hee...have a good weekend everyone!

I haven't run since Tuesday but I did finally log last Saturday and Tuesday's runs! I'm looking at getting to the gym tomorrow but I'll also count shoveling too as training!!!

Haven't weighed myself... the gym scale is right by the front door of the locker room... it scares me away. I'll get on it at some point. Other than that, I've been doing horribly... I think I ate my body weight in cookie dough yesterday, but it was my lunch... is that still bad? I'm slightly jealous with all of your 1500+ calorie intakes. I only burn about 1400 naturally i've figured out, so unless I really cut back on food and ramp up my excersize, it'll be a slow road. Today is a new day and I'm going to start logging again... no excuses...

You said that you took your dogs out and lost them in the snow.  You never said whether you found them.  Did you?  I know what snow is and I have even been in it and actually lived in it briefly.  Today's bike ride was done in short sleeves and shorts.

This was my first bike ride with my bike coach.  The ride started an hour later than originally planned and I didn't have time to do the entire ride so I went an hour and then turned around and went back and they continued on.  My overall pace was a little over 15 mph and I am VERY happy about that because that includes stopping at a lot of traffic lights, fatigue, etc.

I was also happy that we weren't one of those obnoxious packs of riders that you see that don't obey any of the traffic laws.  We stopped for stop signs, didn't assert rights-of-way that were not ours, etc.

So, I am feeling hopeful about the biking.  I still have a long way to go, but I do feel hopeful.

I'm thinking about a new tri bike.  Here is my tentative plan.  I am going to keep my current road bike with cycling computer through the hilly HIM in March.  Then I will get a tri bike with power meter (I can't let Lisa be the only one with the cool stuff).  That way I can just concentrate on becoming a better bike rider without trying to learn to use aero bars and the power meter and all and get through the half ironman.  There will be about 8 months to learn all that and become an even better bike rider for IMAZ.   I figure the cost of the power meter will just get mixed in with all the other costs and won't stand out so much.

(Oh yeah, one of the gals in the group ride is also doing Arizona.   There wasn't that much opportunity to chat, but I think she said she was doing two HIMs between now and then, but not Cali 70.3.  IMAZ will be her first as well.

I hope everyone is getting in some fun training today, even if that training/workout is shoveling snow.

Hey everyone sorry I've not been around much this week. I was sick earlier in the week but then it just extended into a few days off.

Figure it is one of the 2 weeks I was supposed to take off even if it wasn't a full week. I'm sure I was supposed to take both weeks off together, but since I'm not doing anything crazy right now I think this is enough rest.

So I got a run in tonight with some walking after.

Hope those with snow are coping OK. Some crazy snow out there! We only got maybe 2 inches though just enough to bother shoveling.

I watched the Kona broadcast today and I was in tears several times. So exciting! I was overwhelmed, but in a good way.

Leah the link doesn't work for me...

Leah you might want to think about adding aerobars to your road bike. It gives you another position to be in and changes the way your muscles work on the bike in a way that is beneficial to running. I've been working on getting more in the aero position on the trainer.

Debb Take care of your cold, get better.

Everyone else I hope you are having a good weekend!

I just spent the last hour and a half shoveling snow. I'll consider it a core workout. Now for a little snow run.

Oh that's really funny but probably only to those of use who hang out on the forums.

I probably need to get clip-ons too, but I'm a bit nervous to do it. Worried my stomach will be in the way... my bike is slightly big on me so I'm stretched out just a bit more then is ideal (We put a shorter stem on it but the guy who fit me said any shorter and I'd lose some control on steering)

Also my core is going to need some more work in order for me to do that for any length of time, which I should be working on regardless...

And yes I'm feeling much better thanks Lisa.

Hilarious video.  My husband watched it with me and laughed right along.  Maybe b/c I just got done buying a Heart Rate monitor that I HAD to have.  (Even though I haven't figured out what I do with it.)  I'll figure that out over Christmas break.

I had a busy weekend with a birthday party, christmas party, and christmas shopping.  I was so TIRED on Friday night that I went to bed at 9:00.  That is unheard of from me.  I slept hard and even missed my morning 40 mile ride that I always look forward to.  My tummy heart, my body was sore, so my hubby told me to sleep in case I was starting to get sick.  I slept in and felt better later in the day.  I worked out but did not get the mileage/time I had hoped for.

I'm nervous for weigh in day.  It has been and eating and drinking fest.  The holidays are going to be TOUGH for me.  We'll see how it goes.

Catch you all later.
