I'm sitting around 17% BF (based on the walmart bathroom scale). I will be extatic to get into the 150s. That's the goal! That and drop the BF. I'm hoping ot show up at Rocketman pretty lean and ready. This will definitely be fun! How tall are you? 5'6" |

Last year I was close to that until I got to the run and I'm really hoping I can have a fighting chance at being competitive this year. Last Year: My 10k PR is 55:40 and set in Nov. I'm thinking with some work this year I can get that down, and hopfully that ride down to 1:10-1:15. I think it's possible. |

Ha. How did you run across that? Yep. The highlight of my high school years, forever memorialized. Played football & wrestled mostly. Did do track (discus, shot put), played soccer one year, and golf 2 years (although I sucked). Wrestling was my favorite sport. It was great. You were out there by yourself competing. Took stregnth, endurance and a lot of thinking. I would definitly recommend it for kids. Of course, it took me 4 years to get to that point. The year before, I had to weigh in with all my clothes on, because my coach made me wrestle heavyweight. I weighed about 185 and had to weigh above 189, wrestling guys about 290. That was fun!!! |

Titeloops, where did y'all stay in Augusta? The host hotel is already booked up. That area doesn't look all that great. There is a Ramada down the street, but it's gotten mixed reviews based on the "area" of town. |

I stayed at the Host Hilton. If its already booked up, that might make me decide not to do that race. Honestly, I would try to stay as close to the Hilton as possible, as it's in the "Nicer" area of downtown. Once you get a few blocks from there it gets pretty rough. I do remeber seeing a lot of hotels around that looked like meth labs, so be careful where ya book! |

There is also one two miles out close to the golf course that looks ok, but a bit pricey. Downtown looks pretty sketchy. Figured it would have been nicer. |

The only thing I didn't see was a nice LONG ride. 5 weeks out is the perfect time. Maybe 55 to 60 miles with a 3 mile brick after. If you really want to boost your confidence. Stretch that ride to 70 miles. It's funny, if you scroll back through our groups posts, you'll see I asked Mark the same questions before my 1st IM last year. |

What's your goal for the race? How much time a week do you have to train? Todd hit the nail on the head, you need a long ride or two. |

What's your goal for the race? How much time a week do you have to train? Todd hit the nail on the head, you need a long ride or two. Goal is to finish and feel good during the race. I have 10+ hours to train - very supportive husband and in-laws help watching the kids. I'll plan on a long ride each week for the next 3, but I'm worried about how much to add at a time - the 40 last week felt great - think I can handle 55 this week? |

Expert 1066 Raleigh | Subject: RE: BamaDC's Mentor Group v3.0 - CLOSED Ok peeps, it's NOLA HIM week for me. On taper as of today. Time to state a goal and try and crush it. Honestly, up until the past couple of weeks I've felt pretty undertrained for this race, but things are starting to fall in line. Here's my race strategy, please critique. Swim: I always lose time on the swim, cause I get way to comfortable, and never push my pace. I also can't sight worth a poop. It looks 50/50 right now on whether this swim will be wetsuit legal. Cross your fingers as I need the speed. Either way, I'm comfortable though. Hoping to swim the course in under 40 minutes. My swim fitness is definitely the area that I'm weekest in right now, so that could easily be off by 5 minutes or so. I'm gonna try my best a push it a little on the swim. Bike: I'm riding faster than I ever have right now. My bike fitness is pretty good. I think I did so much volume last year while IM training I never really learned to ride hard. That has been changing this spring. However, I'm still planning to be a bit cautious on the bike, cause I dont want to blow my run. So I'm shooting for a 2:45 bike split. Thats about a 20mph average and should be very doable. The course is completely flat, so if the winds cooperate I could do better. Run: Happy with anything sub 2:00. Thats my goal. May depend largely on the heat, and how well I stick to the game plan on the bike. Hoping to run like I did in the 10 miler this past saturday. Man I was running like I stole something! With 5 minutes to transition, that means my goal is a 5:30 HIM. I went 5:28 at Augusta last year, so my super secret goal is to better that time. |
