Crappy recovery pace run this morning.  My body said I had to take it easy.  I was so flat this morning.  Pool was a struggle.  TI is kicking my A.  I remember prior to TI, I used to just put my head down and go for it.  Now I'm overthinking each lap, and I just need more time in the pool.

Online impulse buy.  I sent off for a pair of fins for my swim.  Alot of the drills recommend these.  My first swim purchase.  Hoping they help with the drills.

Tomorrow I have a 17.2 mile long run planned.  Hoping to keep pace with last weekends effort.  definitely in the bulk of build phase as marathon is in a little over 2 months away.

Looking forward, I have a 25K trail run after the middle of April.  This thing is a beast!  it's all up and down, nothing like my cushy runs on the road.  I run to it, do the race, and run home.  All told, it ends up being around 22-23 miles, but 17 of em are on a brutal trail.

On a side note, I'm imbibing too much.  2-3 a few times a week is good.  2-3 almost nightly, is bad mojo.  Goal for this week=less beer.

TI does that to me too, over thinking so much I forget to breath.  My hope is that it will all come together at some point.  Have you considered going to see a TI coach?

I do not have a scheduled swim today...I do not remember the week I am on for the HIM plan....but my legs are so sore that the pool will do wonders to rest my legs and focus on the "elbows leading".

Yesterday I was reminded that the scale means NOTHING!  While shopping for a new pair of slacks for work I tried on my regular size 8; it was too big!  Have not lost a pound but went down another size!  Crazy but true...I have been training for two years and weigh exactly what I did when I started but my physique has changed.

Yea! We spring forward this weekend!  The sun will still be up when I get home which means running after work outside!  I am sooooo excited.

Wait, does this make me the least fun person ever, because I am crazy happy about getting to Spring Forward?

Crazy is just a different point of view!

I would rather be firmer and fitter at the same weight then skinny and out of shape!

That totally blows... However - my scheming husband mind just kicked in when I reread your last sentence.  There may be an upside to your first race being canceled... What if you take your wife on a vacation to a cool locale - you pamper your wife on Friday and Saturday and "oh my god honey - there is a tri on Sunday... And my season opener got canceled..."

Would she buy that?

Bounced back trying to save a poor week of workouts with an hour on the cycle trainer last night. Will try for another ride at lunch today then taking bike in for a tuneup...bought a voucher(wagjag) online for MEC(similar to REI). Will see how that goes...

hope they do a quick tuneup. I have heard they can take quite a while.

ahhhhhh, not less beer. That is my goal every week. I would suggest a different goal, enjoy each beer to its fullest. Then perhaps you don't need so much.

And yes, you are crazy. I was just enjoying seeing the sun in the morning and now it is pushed an hour back. Pitch black 6 am drives to work again. Although I will enjoy the evenings more for sure.

So I am having fantasies of biking. Super nice this week in Calgary. Picking my bike up from my inlaws today ( I left it there in November, then it got cold, ha). I also decided I am going to by a bike. PRobably new, I have been riding crappy commuters for the past 4 years, time to spoil myself. I am thinking the trek 7.3 or the devinci....., can't remember the name. The bike place near my house has free service for life if you buy there so I figure that is worth it with the planned 2000km per year I have. So sick of clunky bikes. But hopefully old faithful will give me a couple trips in the coming week.

Most important - let's talk beer... For the past three weeks - I've found some success by tying in my goals during the week to beer.  Getting out of bed @4:30 = beer that evening.  Spend 15 minutes during my bike ride on the big chain ring = beer.  Exericing 5x per week = 2 beers on Saturday and Sunday... Instead of just cutting back - figure out a way to use beer as a motivator.

Speaking of beer - I took your list to the beer shop today.  The only one they had there that I hadn't tried was the Widmer... I will enjoy it tomorrow during nascar.

Good luck on the run tomorrow!  Kick some a**

Hey All:

I've been battling the bursitis this week and have really tried to see if rest would do the trick.  Cutting out walking/running/and biking have helped - but my hips are still tender.  So I plan on increasing my workout time this week while continuing to pop alieve and icing each night.

I hit the scale today and managed to drop another 1.5 pounds.  If I have a good week, I could hit the halfway point in my weight loss journey.

Like a lot of you - I'm excited about springing forward.  Long bike rides and trail running are just around the corner!

Enjoy the weekend!
PS - Good luck DH in picking out a good bike!

Yeah I thought about that dark drive in the am too but I don't mind that as much as I enjoy sunny evenings.  But honestly I wish we could just stay in one time zone and not change twice a year.

2 kids and coaching lacrosse pretty much kills that. Although there is a sprint triathlon the week after my Invermere one in Peachland. We will be on holidays in Penticton that weekend so...

There are a couple of small ones around here in May/june so that is always a possibility!

Besides I entered her in the Huntington beach 1/2 marathon that we just did in February...That should even up everything??? :-)

Ah yes, I have my 14 yr old trek bike...also known as Barney. Would love a new bike.

As for tuneup at MEC...i booked an appt. 2 weeks ago for yesterday. I am not sure why it would take so long. I have heard some rumours about poor turnaround...If I am not riding my bike than I will be riding the bike service dept. until they are sick of me and work around the clock to get it done.

bike shop went under here over christmas...they have an orbea triathlon bike...not sure the size but it is coming up for auction...hoping and praying i can get it dirt cheap!(and it fits)

A very wet 16 miles today.  I had a 17.2 planned.  This morning, even with the 100 reminders, we forgot to spring forward.  I got out later than planned, and had to cut it to 16 miles.  It rained the entire run and poured for about 5 miles.  still was able to manage 8:20/mi pace.  will do the 17.2 next week, or maybe bump it up to 18.

Darren, I took your advice and only had 1 beverage yesterday, and it tasted fabulous.  A Seasonal brew by Widmer, BRRR.
