Does it matter what you wear on upper half of body for a bike fitting? I assume it's best to wear cycling shorts so they can see your legs.

Thanks all for the supprt and well wishes. I'm pretty pleased. I got jammed up at the first mile and did it in 9:24. It was a tight squeeze in lots of spots. Kelly gave some great advice about nutrition which i ised to the T. Felt fine and booked it the last 2 or 3. Feel great now. Heading off to do some rides.

Wear something form fitting.  They are going to what to measure angles using silcone coach or dart fish and they will get more accurate angles if you are wearing tight fitting clothing.  A tri tops and bike/tri shorts are fine.

Now that's a dedicated triathlete, folks.  Does a hard half-marathon in the morning and then heads off to put in some training miles on the bike in the afternoon.  Color me impressed!

Tongue out Congrats, Chris - sounds like a great time.  Enjoy visiting the mouse!

Nice job Chris. 1 hr 15 min ZR ride this morning on Trainer. Been watching Breaking Bad on Netflix. Pretty good show. I have my bike fitting on the 24th. Thanks for asking that question Jen. I knew to wear my shorts, now looks like I'll throw on a bike jersey as well.

Brutal winds out there today, 20+, for my 3 x 30 bike test.  Had a 35 minute run afterwards.  My legs are toast and I could use a nap.  Gonna be a coffee kinda afternoon.

Great 5 mile run with my tri-training group this morining.  Actually shocked myself with my pace for the 5.  Came home and headed out on the bike along with my husband.  20 miles.  Great training day for me.

haha, that's what I was thinking too! Very impressive. Great job Chris!

I went for a run outside today and did some strength training at the gym. The temperature's already dropping here. 50 degrees was nice while it lasted.

Hate to beat a dead horse here, but have yet another question on fueling: I used to use Perpeteum and mix it by my weight and duration of activity. Now that I'm trying to use what will be offered on the course at Lake Placid, I don't have a clue on how to manage my fueling. Before, it was simple; 2 scoops per hour of activity and it work fairy well. The new stuff just states 1 scoop per 12 oz. (I think it's 160 calories). I weigh less now, but still very heavy compared to the hardcore triathletes (193#'s). I did a HIM in 5:13:00 so I'm not the fastest, but I do burn my share of calories moving this mass along the course. So do I just mix the Accererade or Perform accoding to 1 scoop per 12 oz, and just take 1 bottle per hour? Can I "top off" the calories toward the end of the bike by downing 1.5 to 2 bottles in the last hour for the run, or stick with 1 per hr and leave it like that? Thanks in advance for the replies.Todd

I would say try to keep the number of calories per hour about the same with what LP will have on the course, start with that.  But use this time training to figure out what works for you, your body may function very differently with a whole new product.  My stomach is very finicky, so I can't change things up too much. (Heck, even if I don't change things up I still have stomach issues.)

If you don't have much luck now making the switch, why not use Perpetum at LP? Is it just a powder?  Can you mix up a few bottles for the start, then have powder ready to mix with water while riding?  I've never done it, but I know some people have used Infinite, so they must pack powder on the bike.

Oh and a 5:13 is a pretty smoking fast HIM if you ask me!

Day 13 - and I'm happy to report my husband (who is not doing Whole30) has lost weight! Undecided Figures, he always loses weight when I'm the one trying to lose weight. I have not weighed myself since day 1, so I have no idea where I'm at. My clothes do not feed any different so I'm going to say I'm the same.

In other news, we're heading out to do some trail running. I have an 11.5 mile trail race run in a few weeks (where I'm going to have my butt handed to me), and figure I better hit some hilly trails soon.

Oh, and it was 76 yesterday, should be warm again today.  This weather is very bizarre.

Speaking of nutrition - has anyone used UCan? I've been reading a little about it, and wonder if my stomach may tolerate it better than other products. Just curious if anyone on here has used it.

I've heard good things.  Seems to work for anyone I've spoken to that has used it.  Doesn't seem to have gotten a foothold in the community yet, at least where I'm at.

Do you all do recovery drinks/concoctions after hard or long training sessions?  If so, what do you consume?

I've used Recoverite the past 3 years, tried Endurox R4 recently, not difference between the two. May stick with Recoverite.

I bought some Endurox R4 toward the end of last season and liked it.  I just went on their website and it's not gluten-free (and they say to contact a doctor is you are Celiac), so I think I have to toss it.  Grrr.

I'm going to have to make something myself with natural ingredients.
