I learned under trained doesn't mean failure, it just an increases of the suckage factor.

You'll get it.

Amen.

Having finally trained properly for my first marathon, I see that it is possible to run a marathon and not walk like you have a stick up your arse afterwards.

My first marathon is in like 4-1/2 weeks, and I'm going to be horrifically undertrained.  Kinda looking forward to the suckage.  I have until tomorrow to decide whether or not to change over the doing the Half, instead.

At the Rock and Roll here, they have a split about 9 miles in.  Maybe you could try for the full then go down the half chute if you are not feeling it. I guess I don't know if it's a DQ or if they adjust your time.  Bib color seperates fools from the uber fools.  (I'll let you decide which is which).

Problem for me, is at mile 9, I think I can do it.  It all changes at mile 20.

If the course is the same as last year's, then there is a split right at Mile 12 or 13, I think.  If the knee holds up that long, I'll find a way to suffer to the end.  I'm stupid that way.

We need to bring back the art of a hand written letter. Today I got a hand written letter in the mail from an Uncle of mine at my office.  He has a smartphone, computer, email, etc, but he took the time to hand write a 3 page letter.  Without getting into the topic of the letter, it was really special and heart felt.  It meant a lot more being hand written.

So that being said, we should all give it a shot.  Write a nice hand written letter to someone you love and drop it in the mail.  See what happens.

That's an incredibly great idea.  A woman that I went on one date with, but have remained friends with, sent me a card back in March wishing me luck on my first HIM.  It was such a small and simple effort, but it really meant a ton to me.   I guess it's knowing that someone actually took some real time from their life for YOU, and didn't just hammer it out impersonally on a keyboard and send it to the printer.

Now, I just need to think of someone to write to.

i love sending cards randomly.  my grandparents sold their house recently so i sent them a sympathy card -- i'm very sad about them leaving the house they have been in my WHOLE LIFE.

It is a rainy day at the lake.  I am learning to use SketchUp.

Tomorrow, I am riding in a bike ride fundraiser for Habitat for Humanity.  I cleaned my bike and took it to the bike shop for a tune-up and adjustment.  Now, it shifts so well.   Brakes are just right.  The tune-ups are free.  That is why I took it in rather than doing it myself.  I was not impressed with the initial tune of the derailleurs and brakes from this shop, but this time it is perfect.  They call me Fred at the bike shop.

While we were waiting for the tune-up in Maryville (where the bike shop is), we ate at a little Cuban sandwich shop, Aroma Cafe.  It was fantastic.  Sandwich and beans and a tangy dipping sauce.

I'm a tad tired today too, but that's because of going out for happy hour last night which turned into five hours of happy hour.

Got the phone call today saying that I've officially been offered the job and will be getting the offer letter emailed to me at some point today.  YAYYYYYY!!!!

My brother used to always have a summer cookout / Christmas party.  He would say that people buy each other gifts in December because they feel they have to.  He wants his friends to know that he does it because he wants to.
