TheSchwamm - 2007-05-02 11:55 AM Not really! In a couple of months it'll be too hot and humid to do much of anything. Bleah!

Except run. And maybe ride. Swim, too, I guess, if that's what you're into.

Ugh. Two days before my first half marathon last year, the temp jumped up to 90F. From the 70s.

They actually closed the marathon course two hours earlier than planned because so many people were having so many problems with the heat. It was horrendous. Heat and humidity are NOT good for running. Ugh.

I fought the heat yesterday and the heat won.  No fun!  In the summer, I hate waiting until after 8 pm to run...it is the only time it is sub-90

Running in the heat just requires conditioning and preparation.  I have been on runs where I had a two liter camelbak and a couple extra half liter bottles with me as well.  I have drained that camelbak and gone through numerous GUs on those long hot runs.

You aren't likely to break any speed records but you will clean out your pores.

Hence the jump in temperature killed me.  Right now the high on Saturday for my HIM is 76!  I am praying that it stays there....that is perfect for me

Yup, it's the spike that was a problem. Last year's half was on Sunday. i went for a three mile easy run on Friday when it was suddenly in the 90s and humid (after weeks of mid-70s... spring in Wisconsin), and i thought i was going to melt.

That Sunday morning, it was 75 with 80% humidity at 6am. It went downhill from there.

Good luck on Saturday!

Pffftttt.....

I've had to spend 10 hours pounding pickets into the ground in 130 degree heat wearing a helmet and long sleeves.
