Haha, no.  I just say that a lot (as to Joe and Tim) about...whatever.  It's kinda funny sometimes.  =)  I haven't started the letter back yet b/c every time I try I get mad.  So...can't write it yet.  =

Try this.

Write it, then walk away.

Come back after an hour or two, read it, make corrections, then walk away again.

Come back after another hour or two or three and read it again.  Make corrections.  Then, if possible, have someone else read it.

I've found, with issues like this, this works for me.  For one, you start to take emotions out of the letter with each revision and when you have someone else read it, they may find tone in the writing you didn't intend.

Good luck.

Good advice.  I will probably do something along those lines...I'll write it, read it a few times...maybe have my brother read it, then wait a while, re-read it...send it.

I hope it works.  And you were right in your earlier statement.  Not everyone is going to like you, as much as you wish they would.  Sometimes you just can't win.

If I woulda made that thread, you all would have ripped me a new one...

I've met Todd (chirunner).  He's young.  I can see where this is an issue for him.

I can accept that it may be an issue for him... but he should know better than to feed it to the jackals COJers

Rynamite - 2007-09-19 11:17 AM My parents thought it was cool when I got into triathlon. Oh well.

Reading it seriously I don't think the issue is the actual IM.  In your case, Ryan, you choose to live at home b/c... well... you like it.  You sound like you can afford to live on your own but choose not to.

In Chi's case, his message is filled with financial woes which is VERY common with people in his situation.  The parent's side I would see to be more financial than the training.  Tris cost money.  They can cost a LOT of money.  I can see where as a parent I would have a issue with my son bringing home a 3-5K bike and all the tri gear that goes along with that when he has all that debt hanging over him.  In addition to me already helping out by letting him live at home and save some money on rent.  Hence the reason it would be hard in Chi's place to face his parents.

Just my thoughts.

Also my thoughts... Good on him for wanting to do an IM!!  Hope he does it and it very happy and successful

OK.. .back to nothing

'Nuff 'bout Chirunner--he's got his own thread and his own woes, from what it looks like.

what did you get?

They're Dr. Martens. I tend to stick with those for my everyday work shoes. They look good in a business casual atmosphere... but I can also walk through the shop with them (which I do, daily).

Ooooh, Doc Martens! I haven't had a pair of those since 1992! I had these shiny patent-leather burgundy ones ...
