Take me with you Tracy!! I want to go! Have a great time!

I don't know how you all tolerate the cold. I am now so thankful for the 32+ F here in California. It just started to rain today and we need it.

I signed up for a Half Mary!!! I know I have been talking about doing one but now I am signed up and I am going to do it! March 15th - Shamrock'n in Sacramento!! I can't wait.

I also signed up for the Auburn sprint Tri. They haven't offered the sprint distance in 2 years - it says the Half Iron is the toughest in the world & they have professional triathlete compete. I can't wait to see the Pros race!! There are A LOT of hills in Auburn, CA. May 31st!

Hope everyone has a Wonderful holiday!

Hey Tracey!  Have fun in sunny Mexico (that is where you are going, right?).

Dang Tim, nice wheels for the wifey!  Since you are in the gift-giving mood, ahem, P4...

Hehehe!  She'll love it I'm sure!

Did everyone watch Kona over the weekend?

Yeah, I watched it. I found the coverage to be pretty ho-hum in comparison to other years. coverage of Macca, was next to nil as was some of the other to tier atheletes. Meh...

Happy New Year everyone!  We got back from Mexico at 12:00 on New Years Day.  It's taken me two days to recover from the trip home.  The vacation was great and the weather absolutely incredible.  I got to swim in the warm ocean.  Fabulous.  Caius:  thanks for the initial tip about the Barcelo resort.  We stayed at the Colonial, right in the middle of the 5 hotels so we got to experience everything we wanted to.  I swam a lot; ran a bit.  I didn't drink a lot but it was still hard to get up in the morning and run.  It's easier to swim, somehow, with tequila in your system than it is to run!

Now it's back to reality and marathon training starts tomorrow.  Should be interesting after a break from really hard workouts and hanging out at sea level for two weeks!

Tracy

Happy New Year everyone!!!

It's been a long time since I posted. I've been on holidays for the past two weeks and really really enjoyed being home with my wife and daughter 24/7. Having my girl jump into our bed early every morning to wake us up, eating breakfast, lunch and dinner together every day was the best treat ever. I will certainly miss them now that I'm back at work. Sigh...

Speaking of eating, boy did I do a good job of it. I'm guessing I racked on about 8lbs worth. I'm up 2 notches on my belt from my lowest 'race weight'. While not too happy about it, I'm not too stressed either as I'm sure it will come off after about a month or so. Why do I do this to myself? Guess I love cookies way too much That' plus absolutely no workouts for about 3 weeks will do it.

On the fitness front. We got us a treadmill and I can't wait to get it delivered. No more -10C runs. No more slush and snow and slippery sidewalks. Hoorah!

Tracy, glad you enjoyed the Mayan. I love the place. Did you guys get out for some dinner at Playa del Carmen?

Saw the Mayan restaurant from the Burger King where we were feeding the kids, unfortunately.  They became experts on all of the local chicken nuggets!  We did get to Playa del Carmen twice and really enjoyed it.

Caius - Glad you enjoyed the holidays. I did as well, about 8lbs worth myself! Congrats on the treadmill. I certainly prefer to run inside this time of year.

Tracy, welcome back! Good luck on the marathon training!

Saw the Muskoka 70.3 on TV (TSN) - my hubby taped it for me.  It looks like a beautiful, though tough, course!  I want to do the 70.3 in Cancun some time when I can afford to go back.  Swimming in the Caribbean makes the swim leg a joy!

Oh yeah, I'd LOVE to do the Cancun 70.3. That would be absolutely awesome!!! However, the swim is not in the ocean but in the inland lagoon. The ocean waters where the event is held are actually quite rough with a very strong current. Not sure why they didn't move it to a safer spot further south or on the north edge of Cancun (the top of the 7) where the water are calm.

Here's what I'm looking to do in 2009.  The 1/2 Iron in Sept is the big one this year.  The rest are the same as last year, which will hopefully provide a good comparison from 1st to 2nd year improvements.

    • June - Milton Sprint
    • June - Guelph Lake Olympic
    • July - Niagara Sprint
    • August - Orillia (Northern) Sprint
    • Sept 13 - Muskoka Ironman 70.3  Registered

Caius - did you get your trainer yet?

Yeah, we bought one just before New Year's but we're still waiting for it to be delivered. Speaking of which, I gotta give them a call and see what's the hold up.

Here are my planned races as they stand now. It seems to keep changing!

    FreezeFest 5k 2-28-09 (C race)
St Louis Half Marathon 4-19-09(C race)
Pigman Sprint Tri 6-7-09 (B race)
Hy Vee Triathlon Oly 6-28-08 (B race)
    Alliant 8k 7-4-09 (C race)
Lake McBride Sprint Tri July 09 (A race)
    Kernels 8k Aug 09 (C race)
    Pigman HIM 8-16-09 (A race)
Trihawks Sprint Tri 9-20-09 (B race)
A late fall full mary TBD (B race)

The highlight for me this year will be racing with my lovely wife! She plans on doing the 1/2 mary with me as well as most of the sprint's! The new Triathlete Mag came the other day and she grabbed it and read it cover to cover before I could get my hands on it. I think I've created a monster

I hear you Tim! My husband got a bike. And now we have to figure out who is doing what & when.

We did a New Year Dualthon. It was a lot of fun! I stayed with my friend the whole time because it was her first ever. She is still Run/ Walking and I wanted it to be a postive experience. 2mil Run- 7mil Bike- 2mil Run. She wants to do it again in April!!

I am on week 6/14 on my 1/2 marathon training. I am hoping I don't get sick any more because it set me back.

I sooooo want a treadmill but I have no where to put it.

One last thing. I joined my gym's New Year Challenge. Last Year I was 4th and just received a T-shirt. I am hoping this year I get in top 3. Even though I gained weight it is amazing that my body fat was similar to when the contest ended. I have my work cut out for me. I want to start a weight training regimine.

    Take Care, Kristina

I just got some rollers for myself for christmas, and while they are not as technically advanced as Neil's trainer, they make up for it in pure entertainment value! It's like riding on ice and the whole family bursts out laughing as they watch me try to stay on the darn things! I was doing pretty well with them last night until I diverted a little too much attention to the tv and not enough to the rollers and I managed to crash and drive five teeth of the big chain ring into my calf, ouch. They really are a lot of fun and make those indoor training sessions a bit more interesting.
