I had, um, drank a bit the night before so it wasn't my finest, but it was fun and in the end, that's all that really matters, right? Here is the RR for anyone interested. great race, especially with a hangover!.....what do you have to do to qualify for the NYC marathon?....I thought it was a lottery?

Instead people were getting zapped by a small electrical device used to detect the presence of a vacuum inside glass vials. Yeah we were that bored. For some reason I was thinking of a few BTers that might appreciate such a device or even own one themselves What kind of work do you do??? I'm a chemist. usually I work in a lab but that day I was inspecting a bunch of products we sell so we could send them off to one of our big Japanese customers. We get bored and have to pass the time somehow |

Yes, the main way is the lottery, but there are guaranteed entries by: 1) meeting a qualifying standard. (these are tougher than Boston) 2) being a NYRR member and running 9 NYRR races plus 1 volunteering stint. This is why the regular races are so crowded these days. 5000+ people for a 4 miler??? I just did my 9th and final qualifying race, so I'm automatically accepted into 2009 marathon. 3) Being a foreignor and signing up through one of the official marathon tours. |

I feel responsible for our low placing. I've had a really slow start to this challenge. Good news is, I should be getting all caught up this week. If I continue to slack feel free to give me a motivating kick in the pants! |

Master 1989 New Jersey | Subject: RE: Hot Toddies Morning Toddies, Seems to be a lull in the post-padding. What happened? I made it to an ART doc for some treatment on my knee yesterday. it's exactly as he said it would be. Felt nice and loose yesterday after the treatment, and today it feels all bruised. So hopefully this puts me back on track for my running. I felt fine after my 4mile race on Saturday, but after a Sunday night party standing around alot, it started to bother me again. enjoy the day!! |
