A brick - 60min bike and 30min run in the cold rain. YUCK!!!!!!!!!! It won't be so bad if I wasn't going to be brain dead by the time I gt home. How's everyone else? Bleh to bricks. Do you practice transistion when you do them? I like to scatter stuff around the house the day before, then try to remember where I put them when I get off the bike. Granted, it's not true transition practice, but I take it easy, stay calm, locate my stuff, then head out the door. It seems that by creating a disaster scenario in training, transition during a race is a piece of cake. All my stuff is right there and neatly in order, but if something were to happen or be misplaced, I'm ready for it and I stay calm. Of course, you should also practice good transitions, but that's simple enough to do without going through the entire brick process first. You just descibed the lcoation of my stuff all of the time. My kids think its funny to wear my shoes, bike, race belt, watch and whatever else they ca get their hands on. I have to keep things under lock and key to keep it safe. LOL |

Champion 5117 Brandon, MS | Subject: RE: Sesh's Group - FULL! Check the rim tape. The only bike I've ever owned that didn't flat a gazillion times after I got it was the one I built. It has always been shoddy rim tape placement by the wheel manufacturer. kirih - 2009-04-14 2:12 PM My whine of the week is FLATS! 3 of em in 1 week, 2 on the road, 1 my fault. Why whine!? I've had 1 flat in the past two years on my other bikes, in fact I'd never even used my frame pump since I bought it 2+ years ago - UNTIL this past week. I'm thinking the stock tires on my tri bike are JUNK (vittoria rubino pros), at least they come on/off like butter for fast changes! Now that taxes are finally done and in the mail it's back to the training grind I go, hi ho! sdalessio - 2009-04-14 4:52 AM Happy Rainy Tuesday :-( I'm going to whine for a moment since I have to sit in a training class all day then folow up at home w/ a tough workout. Extreme Veteran 378 Seattle | Subject: RE: Sesh's Group - FULL! Just got back from my vacation and I'm still jealous of you guys who are about to go! As far as training goes it was quite a lot of raw volume (for me anyway) but definitely low intensity, so it felt good to get back and run a little harder last night. I don't think I lost too much fitness. It was so good to see my friends and family again - I ate badly and too much but had fun and it was good for the spirit. On the last weekend my friends decided I wasn't training hard enough for a triathlon so they put on a decathlon, consisting of cricket, soccer, soccer penalties, tennis, croquet (wtf???), minigolf, Cranium, scrabble, hearts and poker. We kept well-hydrated with some sports-beer along the way of course. Hope everyone is getting over the winter colds and flu and feeling ready for the summer tri season. |

My arms felt better after my swim this morning. Looks like there was no permanent damage. Raining here too. Miserable and cold. I'm glad I don't have any runs planned for a couple of days. Good to hear the soreness worked its way out. It very well could be from all the yoga. I used to do a yoga class, LOVED the stretching out it gave me, but it really did wear out my muscles. I cut it out so I could increase my training load, but it was a serious increase. As in Sprint training up to HIM training. The time for recovery just wasn't there. If you find that the soreness begins to get less and less... well... sore, then I think you'll be ok. I teach yoga, so I can't cut it out. I have cut my practice back to make time for training, so when I have heavy yoga days I can feel it. I'm trying to adapt my practice to be more complementary to my training. I'll find the balance eventually. I'm covering for another teacher who is away for a couple of weeks, so I'll be teaching 10 classes in the next two weeks. You can remind me of that when I complain about soreness next week. |

I like curling up in a ball and thinking about sleeping. :-) It's funny but I've always wondered about the names of yoga poses. Then when I had my daughter and she moved to her toddler bed, she started sleeping in that position all of the time. It's so cute! |

Master 1734 On a lake in the Adirondacks in NY | Subject: RE: Sesh's Group - FULL! Remember how I was complaining about being sore? I felt fine this morning, got back in the pool and did 500 yds for the first time. Then, just to make sure I had really done it, I did it twice more. So I did my first 500s and my first 1500 yard swim. I love that swimming gives me all these milestones to get excited about. It really motivates me to get back in the pool again. |

Expert 1797 CHARLOTTESVILLE, Virginia | Subject: RE: Sesh's Group - FULL! Awesome job on the swim. I know what you mean about feeling better in the pool. I did my first 1500m continuous swim on Monday. It was a little slow but I still felt fresh at the end. So i'm thinking I will at least get through my tri this weekend. As long as I dont' freeze! |

Expert 1797 CHARLOTTESVILLE, Virginia | Subject: RE: Sesh's Group - FULL! Happy Thursday everyone - I love Thursdays b/c they are my Fridays. :-) Well all of my whining and concern last week seems to have been for nothing. I have had really good workouts this week. Great swim Monday, really good brick on Tuesday and an awesome relaxed 7 mile run this morning w/ a handful of 1 min. sprints thrown in. I feel good - my muscles aren't debating w/ me everytime I ask them to move this week. Hopefully this carries over to my tri on Sat. The water temp. is creeping up - 60 at last measure on Weds. Hope everyone has a good weekend. |

Doc thinks it might be a problem with my meniscus. I sure hope not. Otherwise I feel pretty good. Bike and pool are coming along. Running is a pipe dream at the moment. Keep on training! I hope we are keeping the group together. |

Keep up that attitude through the rehab, and you'll come out even better on the other side. |

Champion 5117 Brandon, MS | Subject: RE: Sesh's Group - FULL! Just an update. They got a lot of the cancer that was causing my Grandmother a lot of pain out with some surgery. She's far to old to treat it, though. At 90 years old, any chemo would get her before the cancer does. She's recovered enough from the surgery that we got her moved to a home where 24 hour nursing care is available. Her mobility is way, way down, but she's doing ok. Before the cancer really acted up and the surgery, she was pushing all her church friends around in their wheel chairs. She does have dementia and early alzheimers as well, and there have been good days and bad days. She told me and my wife about graduating at 16, going to Delta State because she wanted to be a teacher, and taking weekend trips to the Peabody in Memphis. It was stuff I'd never heard about before. Then the next day she was talking to people that didn't exist and offering me punch and cookies. It's been tough on my Dad to see his mom like this, but he's doing well. Have a great weekend everyone. My friends that were in New Zealand for two years have made it back, and we're going up to Miss. State with them this weekend for some baseball, hanging out by a lake, and a music festival thing. Then on Monday, my recovery weeks officially end, and it's right back into the Oly training |

I'm sure once the doc puts in a few replacement parts you'll be good as new. Probably better.....stronger.....faster...... (Okay, I'm dating myself now, so I'll shut up.) |
