kaqphin - 2009-03-07 10:46 PM I just had my first DNF Im really upset and mad at the whole thing....

oh Cat!

what happened?

Well they cancelled the swim and made it a wade for 400m...

I fell on the uneven surface/murky water/heavy waves and hurt my ankle...continued...did it again... limped to an official and they made me walk on the sand uphill about 1.5ks to transition... by which stage I was crying really bad... then spent half an hour in medical....

Looks like a sprained ankle...not too bad... but bad enough that I couldnt have run... I said I should have pulled out when they cancelled the swim!

WHAT!?!?!?!

That seems stupid to me
Ok, so I'm still "new" to this sport.  Is that typical/acceptable?  To turn to swim into a WADE???
Seems like that is just asking for injuries such as yours.

Disregard that ^^^^
I read on....

NTL.....   Cat, enjoy your day off from work today/tomorrow... well, I guess right now it's actaully tonight...

Thanks - I think Im taking a half day off today... going to do the doctor/xray thing this morning just to be safe...then Im going to  go into the office and get some sympathy (ok officially Im going in to work but Im sure it will be more about the sympathy)

As the parking at work tends to fill up Im just hoping I can get a park as hobbling up the road does not sound like fun!

Did you have a nice birthday Judi?

I had a lot of fun.  Even though I crammed way too much into the day...The ride was a great experience and it is helping me gain skills on the bike.  My friend said I was her safety net cause the people she used to ride with have moved away.  She's my safety net cause I know she won't drop me.

It was a large group of 25 that split up a bit.  The lead pack was pretty fast (19+mph)  We were toward the middle at 16 mph average.  Mostly 4 of us together in our group.  There was another group in the back 12 mph or so.  Getting to know a few other riders is nice, means I won't be as afraid of getting dropped if I ride without my friend.

I am sorry to hear that you had a disappointing race Cat.

I am fairly sure that I would have had similar results in that race.  the wading bit was a bad call.

Make sure to rest up that ankle.

I had a wonderful run but am "baddogging" myself about some mistakes I made at work which I will have to face the music for this week.

Anyhow, how are you?

I have been all over the board.  I had a bit of a melt down last night and felt really glum this morning, but after a nap and some pampering I am feeling good about life again.

I have no idea how I am going to get everything done...but I still don't know what I can do to simplify things.

Like dave said, I need to lower my perfectionistic standards a wee bit and just get my school work done and turned in.  I am so far behind...

There are a few scholorships that I would like to apply for, but I am not sure if my GPA is high enough.  It will depend if they look at the entire transcript or just the hort portion.  I have been struggling since I started the full time hort program.

You know, Mel, I find myself struggling with many of the same things. Part of it is that you are such a brilliant and lively person that you expect yourself to be that way all the time. But we are all a mix of things ... and we tend to run best when we run evenly, not too high, not too low.

It's something I struggle with every day. And even then I try not to struggle, but go with the flow. I am so behind on so many things, too.

WEll it is good he is looking out for you... but take his intentions rather than his words if you can...

I find people usually mean well... its just their execution that sometimes sucks!

So good to see you in here ... seems like a few of us have had a down weekend ... you are so kind and gracious to still be there for others, like us!
