Our fearless leader is out of the water in 1:11:52. Remember to start slow, Fred - don't go all "Rudy" on the bike!

Arend and Fred are through the first time check on the bike. FWIW, "starting slow" for Fred is 23mph...

Start slow Fred! Haha. I ended up being called into emerg last night because of a multiple trauma. Some kids were riding in a truck bed at 80km/h when the truck crashed. Air ambulance, etc. bit crazy. Got about 4hrs of sleep so in glad I got a good sleep in yesterday! Transition set up! Ready to go! Go IMers GO!

Arend is also through the second checkpoint. Like Fred he is holding a steady pace Looks like the latter part of the loop is a little lumper than the first though.

Fred is thru 3rd bike check point 4:46 into the race at 120 K. His 1st and 3rd split pace are very similar in the 35 km/hour range as I suspect they are the same part of the course just first and second loop.

Go Fred!

Only a 56 second difference between the first 30k of the first and second lap - I think Fred might just know a thing or two about IM bike pacing...

...and Arend is the same at the third check. Only about a minute difference between his first and third as well. Wow!

Jen made it through the second checkpoint equally as well - only a 2km per hour drop in average speed for that section, just like the boys.

Arend also had a lightening fast sub-4:00 T2 - those guys paced the bike like pros. C'mon - Jen let's go 3 for 3 - keep it steady!

I read on ST that the first timing mat on the run isn't working. So don't be alarmed if we don't see splits there and on second loop when we expect them.

Fred, start the run slow

Come on Jen!
