I did lose two pounds! Swimming is still only available to me on the weekends but managing the plan better even being out of town for three days. I logged one meal in...fail!
2lbs! Jammin, WTG! (considering it was Cali, isn't "jammin" surfer talk?) Edited by Burd 2013-01-18 10:45 AM |

Wouldn't last long here in Timmins today doing that. It is FRIGID!!! Brrrr. Other than another acupuncture session I shut myself inside and cranked the gas fireplace to max! Back is feeling somewhat better today, and I am really feelin the ache in my Abs, this I guess is compensation for not using my lower back muscles? Does anyone else get that? Depending on how tomorrow morning finds my pain, I may try to hit up the pool for some easy laps! Because according to the scale, I have to get back on the Sweat Train. Haven't lost a pound since last weeks weigh in, Frustrating! swim should be good for your back. Don't sweat the weight. You are a beast and heading in the right direction with all that you are doing by dialing in your diet and training. You are smart to keep an eye on your pains and modify when appropriate.
Thanks Bob... Appreciate it! |

Expert 925 Timmins, ON. Canada | Subject: RE: Beer Drinker Appreciation Society - Closed Well, got into the pool for a nice leisurely 1000m today and it felt good! Had a couple back 'twinges' but I basically just slowed down,,,practiced my bilateral breathing, and tried to enjoy being on the move again! Goals got kind of derailed but I guess thats life right! just got to get back on the Horse!

Decided to go out and ride on our first day of sunshine in about 3 weeks. Enjoyed the crap out of it, stayed in z4 for 40 minutes and z5 for nearly 20. Tonight, we eat at a pizza place where you can reserve your own beer tap AT YOUR OWN TABLE. We're drinking canebreak (local beer) and andygator (another louisiana beer that'll knock you on your .) If this doesn't make me feel better, nothing will.
I'll drink one for each and every one of you. |

Extreme Veteran 968 Cape Coral, FL | Subject: RE: Beer Drinker Appreciation Society - Closed Justin - I wouldn't be worried about what you did but focus on THAT you did! Coming off an injury sucks and takes time. About the sleep, if I remember right it was close to the same. Few months would pass where we took a sigh of relief that he was sleeping through the night only to be woke the following week 9x a night. It repeated this for a good amount of time. Good months and bad months for sleeping. I want to say he was 1 1/2 'ish when it all leveled out. Could have been before, could have been later but around then. Hang in there and sleep in shifts. Sounds weird but it works. We would take turns sleeping so neither of us had to get up all night. |

Extreme Veteran 968 Cape Coral, FL | Subject: RE: Beer Drinker Appreciation Society - Closed Well I feel like a long tailed cat in a room full of rocking chairs now. I know it's only a 5k and I can run that distance no problem. I haven't done a race for 25 years!!! The butterflies have landed. I went and picked up my packet tonight and it is now starting to sink in. This is exactly why I wanted to do a few before the race in May. Well bright and early #769 will be there standing tall Kinda cool number to have also, lol. |

We had been having great nights with up to 6hrs sleep at a time, and now our 7 month old is up every 2-3 hrs without fail! Any sleep tips? We are desperate!!! Oh, how I have felt your pain! The fact that your little one has been such a good sleeper up to now is a good thing because it means that Dorothy will go back to sleeping for long stretches before too long. The trick is to figure out what is different... Is she sick? Is she getting enough to eat? Is she learning to sit up and wakes up and wants to practice? Does she miss her mommy/daddy? (My son went through this - I'd walk into the room and the crying would continue. Heidi would come in and he'd start smiling). Have her nap habits during the day changed? If you've asked yourself all those questions with a no - then you might want to go back and try ferberizing ... let her cry it out for progressively longer periods of time. I know - nothing revolutionary... I hope sleep returns to your house ASAP! |

You will only get really scared at the start line for just a second or two...breath...do not let that fear take you over...you have trained and are healthy; Tonight, vision your day tomorrow, start to finish, wake up to the last sip of your celebratory beer! Be aware of your breathing and relax while envisioning the race. Replay your day over and over; consider how you will handle adversity or obstacles that may arise. You will do great! 69 good grief! |

Hell - your biggest worry should probably be getting heat stroke Tomorrow - start out nice a slow, enjoy every moment, and finish strong. Before you know it, you'll be chuggling a beer at the finish line! Prost! |

Ha ha ha...sorry guys it never ends...just when you think you can rest your weary head and sleep they start driving, going on dates, meet a special someone and you are sure they are up to no good because you remember how you were at that age, you are awake waiting for them to come home safely, then they get married and come to visit with kids of their own that keep you up all night! I am telling you, I know this as fact! I only slept for a few years and I am exhausted now! |

Veteran 340 Dallas | Subject: RE: Beer Drinker Appreciation Society - Closed 1550 meter swim in the can followed by 9 mile run. At about 800m into the swim I thought to myself "doing triathlons is tough and takes a lot of work...regardless of sprint or Ironman". Run felt great as it was sunny and mid 50's. To top it all off, I bought a Clown Shoes Tramp Stamp brew for my tri partner and he shared it with me. Good brew. I also bought a Breckenridge sample pack for this weekend. Have a good weekend everyone! Kudos on the workout Dr. Bob. Tramp stamp is a tasty beverage and Clown Shoes is a great brewery here in MASS. Clementine (a wit) and Hoppy Feet are really good as well. I had a Breckenridge Christmas Ale with my pizza tonight. It was way too malty for me and I poured it down the drain after chocking down half of it. Now I'm having a double wide IPA from Boulevard - much better. |

Definitely haven't answered no to 'All' of those questions, she has been spitting up quit a bit more but we thought that may be in relation to the introduction of real food into her diet? My wife can always nurse her back to sleep but we want her to be able to self sooth. A lot of friends have said that the first kid is always the worst sleeper because of how much attention they get so that might be it too. We think the biggest reason may be that she doesn't like to be swaddled anymore and startles herself awake with her arms.... anyways...thanks again for the tips and we will let you know how it goes! |

Extreme Veteran 968 Cape Coral, FL | Subject: RE: Beer Drinker Appreciation Society - Closed I have a question about tires. For a training tire that doesn't go flat often is it worth buying something like the gatorskins or a less expensive tire for less that half (if not more) the price. I am new to the world of road bikes and the knowledge of tires and the like. I don't have any hills at all within the entire state so descending at warp speed will likely never happen. There are so many claims and statement that my head is spinning. I would like to get something affordable if it is worth it. That way I can carry a 3rd tire with me in case I get hit by a meteor shower (stranger things have happened)

Veteran 340 Dallas | Subject: RE: Beer Drinker Appreciation Society - Closed I have had great luck with Gatorskins. I am not worried about speed and I am more interested in not having to change a flat in a race or training. If you ever get a chance to help someone out with a mechanical issue during a race, I would suggest it. It will make you feel great and it will likely brighten the day of the person who was just thinking how bad a day there were having. I am feeling pretty sore tonight. I did hit the bike and run a little hard this week. It finally hit me that I have my first 5-6 plus hour race coming up in April and I need to be moving towards volume. Off the East Texas this weekend. Stay tuned for Breckenridge beer updates as well as my usual running with pitbulls! 1 |
