But I almost fell on my face. How bizarre is that? Dee, how many times do I have to tell you NOT to wear those stilettos, especially while going up and down stairs? |

What did I do? I have NO idea. But I almost fell on my face. How bizarre is that? That's odd... I thought most people hurt their knees going DOWN stairs. Yeah, that's how I USUALLY do it. Which is why this was bizarre. I was going up. Maybe it's time to lose some weight, eh? LOL |

Pro 4541 A farming town in MN | Subject: RE: Challenge Chat (aka Nibbs XVIII) - come join us :) Hi Nibbs! Open water swim at lunch (East Medicine Lake...2 minutes away from work). First OWS of the season. I'm glad I waited until the water warmed up a little. 32 minutes, 1554 yds. Buoy to buoy 111 yds (Garmin GPS reading...walked along the shore beforehand). BlueSeventy sleeveless wetsuit. Water temp was PERFECT. I'd say about 62 degrees. Good sighting practice. Showered in corp. gym, so hoping I don't go home with a case of swimmer's itch... O.K., so I'm feeling like I'm ready for this HIM swim and run. The bike, not so much...gonna try to commute to work on my tri bike, but am REALLY nervous about it... I guess I could always jump in the Delaware River - it's right outside my office - LOL You'll do great Sal - I'm sure it's pretty normal to be nervous - I'm nervous about the bike for my race at the end of the month and it's only an Oly you've gotten lots of great training in! |

You'll be good. Just listen to your body. It has a way of telling you when to back off the pace I am pretty terrified about my HIM, too. The half mary scares the daylights out of me. But somehow, it will be ok come race day. It always is. Just keep telling yourself nice, calming, positive thoughts. |

That's kind of cool - getting a swim in during lunch - AND an outdoor swim, even. Very nice! |

Pro 4541 A farming town in MN | Subject: RE: Challenge Chat (aka Nibbs XVIII) - come join us :) Spokes - 2008-06-02 3:19 PM Good afternoon (or whatever it is where you are). The weekend was fairly uneventful. Doggy Dash - at least the festivities afterwards - was a blast. Pug races and the frisbee catch. I got the pug races up on You Tube (look for spokesandfeet's channel - that's mine). Went to the Roseville Auction on Sunday and got the stupid hat I'm wearing in the avatar. My right foot is really sore in the toes right now, I'm hoping this isn't some kind of injury that's going to keep me off the hoof, as its time to start running seriously again in preparation for the San Francisco half-marathon. I'm going to see if Performance will take Spud! back. Long story short - the step-down adapters made my "Q factor" - the lineup of the foot with the pedal - out too far, and my left knee no likey with clipless on. Performance said they will return it (I heart their store), I'd rather get a Schwinn Madison but there are not any in my size in their store(s) in Sacramento right now. Anyway, I'm bolting out of here early, taking the rail with Spud! home, removing the equipment that I customized it with and returning it to the store. If nothing else, I'll get a store credit for about $300 with accessories. Ooh...$300 to spend in a bike store...drool... |

Science Nerd 28760 Redwood City, California | Subject: RE: Challenge Chat (aka Nibbs XVIII) - come join us :) The James River here was almost uncomfortably warm after an hour with a wetsuit. That means it's going to be perfect for the one mile OWS race Judi and I are doing - we can't wear wetsuits. |

Here's my losing avatar - Wisconsin's capital building. I imagine you'll be seeing a lot of Wisconsin related things from me this month. I figure Bucky Badger can count at some point; he's related to the central states. Cheese is also pretty high on my list. I think this might be fun. |

I really haven't gotten that much accomplished today Tomorrow is an early morning with Master's Swim... guessing I should REALLY consider getting in with my neoprene (though I hate it in the pool, it's way too warm) Swim coach promised to go check out the race route with me tomorrow (oh crap I gotta get a bolt for my bike rack!!) Wonder what my chances of convincing him that we should check out the water are??? Guess I really am leaving work right now and heading to Home Depot on the way home |
