The coldest I've ran in shorts and a long sleeve tech shirt was 50 and that was comfortable. Probably 40 is about the cut off point for me. Although if it's a race, it'd be much lower. Amazing what gloves and a hat can do.
x2. 40's and I need some tights. 50s might be iffy if it is windy. |

Elite 4372 Connecticut | Subject: RE: E.V.I.L. Running Reapers - Halloween Run Challenge We ended up getting about an inch of snow last night. It's all gone this morning though. It was really pretty. Snowing all day. In October. It's gonna be a loooooooong winter! |

Elite 4372 Connecticut | Subject: RE: E.V.I.L. Running Reapers - Halloween Run Challenge Another cold day here. High of 40. Ugh. I shall run this afternoon. Then tomorrow is an off day! I could use it. My legs are sore from running/painting. And today I am painting one wall in my room. Chocolate cupcake is the color. Yum! |

Expert 1007 Hattiesburg, Mississippi | Subject: RE: E.V.I.L. Running Reapers - Halloween Run Challenge So we are finally getting cooler weather. Yea! It's 65 right now and our version of blustery as a storm system has just passed on through. I'll head out after I finish my tea for a shortie, maybe 4 miles, some of it at tempo. Expert 1007 Hattiesburg, Mississippi | Subject: RE: E.V.I.L. Running Reapers - Halloween Run Challenge Earlier this week I officially started my 20 week marathon training program. Since I am still not that far past a decent injury I am taking it very slow. 20 weeks seems like a long time to me and I need to make sure I get all the way to the end with a sound mind and body! |

Quick 6 miles - wasn't that bad with the rain, but the cold!! My legs were a nice bright pink when I finished. Didn't push too hard as I got my first, final and only 20 miler in 2 days. Why is it that on these back country roads, there can be no cars, no cars, no cars - then one from each side on a narrow part of the road? All types of confusion. Congrats on getting out there in such crappy weather. I used to live in Teaneck, near the GWB, so I know of the weather you are talking about. Although I am sick of the hot humid temps hear, I am not sure I would trade... Well maybe somedays... |

Why is it that on these back country roads, there can be no cars, no cars, no cars - then one from each side on a narrow part of the road? All types of confusion. Yikes! Cold rain in shorts...brrrrrr! Strong work getting it done!Speaking of shorts in cold weather --- At what temp do ya'll don the tights instead of shorts? The coldest I've ran in shorts and a long sleeve tech shirt was 50 and that was comfortable. Since I live in the south like you, it's probably similar, at about 50 I'll start wearing light tights, especially on longer slower runs. For faster tempo or hill work I'll stick with shorts. If it's stormy/windy then that can change things. I run mostly in the AM and since we do get a few nights in the teens and some in the 20's it can be downright cold in the morning, then I'll go for double layer lights, or just wait to run later (50+/- is about the usual coldness of any given winter day hear)! I love the winter because I actually get more opportunities to run at different times of the day, instead of in the summer when you have to run pre-dawn, as it's the only time of the day the heat wont kill you! |

It's still warm and humid here, but it's supposed to be much cooler tonight! Could be interesting... I'm doing a reverse duathlon tomorrow morning, and I haven't ridden in the cold for a long time. But everyone else should be in the same position as me, right? Have a great weekend! |

Thanks for the feedback! It was actually 52 this morning and calm. I didn't run though -- I made coffee and logged into work, what a loser. Hope everyone has a great morning! It's going to be an afternoon run for me today. Hmmm. I never put tights on until it got in the 30s. So, now, living in MS, I almost never wear tights (except on the bike). I will wear capris on the colder, damp days. I find that as long as I have a hat and gloves, I can tolerate pretty cold weather. Once, in VA, it warmed up pretty quickly after a snow, so I decided to go for an afternoon long run in the park near our house. While it was in the mid 40s in our backyard and all the snow had melted, I didn't take into account the micro-climate from all of the trees in the park. I couldn't run the trails because they were still covered in snow and ice, so I hit the road, and all I had on were shorts, a lightweight long-sleeved shirt, a ball cap, and gloves. (Well, socks and shoes, of course, too.) Everyone else out there was bundled up, but I felt great. Cold at the start, but just right the rest of the run. And I ran fast. That's how you stay warm! |

I bet I run 10 seconds per mile faster than I usually do. |

Planning on swimming this afternoon and running both Sat (short) and Sun (longish). Decided to start trying the schedule I will probably follow when I start working 3 days per week in Nov or Dec. Will run on Tue, Thur (along with pm spin) Sat & Sun. I haven't been in the pool in almost 2 weeks-Yikes!!! Looking forward to being warm! TGIF everyone. |
