...sitting in the office waiting for a client, thinking back about the weekend... the insanity of yesterday's workout & thinking how i couldn't catch my breath after a particularly nasty hill, wondering how i sliced my ankle and never noticed, & most of all thinking about the adorable aussie we rescued in NJ on Sat who's now at home in the crate while our other aussie probably wonders what's up with that....

Sometimes the insanity is the best part

Don't try to figure out where the bruises and scratches come from, it will only drive you mad.

Good for you for the rescue

Hrm...this is eithe some sort of Zen koan or a really complicated essay question about the nature of madness in triathlon.

There are good kinds of insanity, and bad kinds. Enjoy one, stay away from the other.

...that is, of course, presuming we're capable of distinguishing one from the other! :D

(actually, I think it's funny that my husband is still surprised when he asks me about the source of the war wounds & I don't have a clue...par for the course for a known klutz!)

Just put some Yankz laces in my running shoes.  Hopefully I'll try them out in the morning.

Tried to go for a morning run but my back is hurting so I walked.  It is a beautiful morning, so it's all good.  Now time to head to work.  I'll check back in at lunch and/or this evening.  Have a great day everyone!

Morning everyone! Ann(e), nice inspire for today, thank you!

Got a nice run in and finished up just as the sun was rising. I love this time of year.  There were sooooooooo many rabbits out today, I stopped counting at 18.

Hope to get a short mtb ride in tonight, then back to household stuff. The restoration folks are just about finished cleaning up the flood damage upstairs and we have the all clear to move out of the basement.  Yeah!

I already have strength training and stretching done.

I am thinking of a 4 mile walk with my pup when I get home. Should be a nice day to let her swim in the ponds.

Aww, lucky pup!

I finally got my wife's cold last night.  I will have to make sure and sneeze all over her or something equally obnoxious for giving it to me.  (Just kidding - that's gross.  I'll just moan and whine repeatedly.  That should be enough punishment for her.Tongue out
Other that that, I'm going to hit the trainer for my first hour long ride tonight.  I'd head outside but I still don't trust myself in lots of traffic on my bike and I don't get home until the middle of rush hour.  At least I dug out a fan to blow over me while I ride.

YEP! Burnt out is what happens when I start thinking about all the things I have to do and all the things I want to do and all the things I should be doing. It is best for me to take small steps and not to look at the big picture too often. That being said, you gotta take time to plan your goals and how to get them accomplished while balancing the rest of your life.

Is your wifes problem you are avoiding other tasks or is it lack of spending time together? My DH try to combine my workouts with fun stuff when ever possible. Like me swimming with him canoeing or me running while he walks the dog and we meet up.

The magic balance does not happen with out effort.
Good luck!

I can't speak to the latter beause my wife is usually trying to kick my arse out the door but I can completely agree with the first part.  I spent so much time worrying and stressing and planning earlier this year that I completely neglected to actually train!  I wasn't even actually training and I felt burnt out.  Once I just began trusting in the plan that I downloaded from this site, I only had getting the one foot out the door as the toughest battle to face each day.  I've also come to see training as being nearly enjoyable, a way to get some "me time" and a way to make me the best me possible (thanks to this group) instead of a means to my being able to race.  That has also helped immensely.
