Looks like the bike repair is going to be quite spendy.  Good news is that the lady has accepted full responsibility, which sure is a load off of my mind.

Have a great day everyone.  I hope you all can get some good training in.

Glad to hear she took responsibility.....should save at least some of the headaches.

I'm about to head to the pool.  I can actually see a sliver of sunshine........3 days of constant rain is enough!

Yes, I saw Crowie finishing the whole race as I was going out on the bike. (he started 33 minutes before me and finished 1:36 minutes before I did--he is an animal!)

I checked the results today. My coach was the overall AG winner yesterday. 4:03:xx. He was 7th overall, only beaten by 6 pros. I knew he was fast but that is really fast. I am not sure I am worthy of being coached by him.... I guess I'll just keep working.

Here is a link to my race report:

Not particularly witty. Several typos and grammatical errors but it hits the major points.

Jason, Fantastic performance!  Stopping to help a fellow athlete shows you have class!  I have had many friends ask me why the swim is always first in triathlon, and I always say because too many people (myself included) would cramp up and it would be too dangerous!  Jim

Just saw Jason's post about his Mom and thought it deserved a repost here -- she won her AG at her first tri!

Yeah, very proud of her. She worked really hard to get ready for this race and did great.

I'll tell you a little funny/troubling story: I was out running and came up behind a woman running in a jog bra/tri shorts. I remember thinking, "she's in pretty good shape"--in a totally non-lecherous way. Imagine my surprise as I caught up to the woman and realized it was my Mom

She had a great race and told me that she could see how it would get addictive.

ETA--I am totally jealous of her for winning at her first event. I guess there are some real advantages to aging up......

Morning all.  I forgot to weigh in yesterday -- 141.  Hope others are doing well.

I'm going to try to bike today if weather allows.  What's going on with everyone?

Weigh In - Forgot about that too ... thanks for the reminder Michael

May 21st - 206.2lbs

May 28th - 204.4lbs

June 4th - 206 lbs

June 12th - 205.2 lbs

Weightloss is not going as well as I expected but I know why it isn't and all I need to do is determined and consistent.

So I ran a 10K on Sunday in support of the Wounded Warrior Foundation. My goal was 56 minutes which would have been 10 minutes faster than the same race last year. The last 10K i ran was the Turkey Trot in November and I came in at 59 minutes. Everything went fine for the first mile. I was running at a 8.45min/mile pace which for me is pretty good.

Starting with mile 2 everything went downhill ... I kept going slower and slower and my heart rate continued to stay in the 180's. Long story short I need to run way more often (consistent). I came in at exactly 1 hour which wasn't a PR but at 90 degrees not too bad for me.

I walked around the EXPO has a muscle milk and went on my way home. I got home watched some TV (Euro 2012 of course) and fell asleep. When I woke up I had this pain in my ear for just a minute ... like needles ... and from that moment forward i started to feel worse. My balance was off and I ended up going to bed around 8pm with a 102 fever.

I slept until 6am the next morning, woke up and felt like nothing ever happened. That was the weirdest thing.

Did a 1 hour bike ride on the trainer with trainerroad.com yesterday evening. Swam this morning and lifted some weights.

Good day so far!

Michael/d3-sounds like you had some sort of illness coming on.  That can certainly cause your HR to be high.  Don't worry about the race just keep moving forward!

I'm having to swap today and tomorrow's workouts due to some travel tomorrow. So, lunch will be 3500 swim with main set being 20x100 and then 50 minute easy run tonight.  Swam 3250 yesterday so I suspect my upper body will fade during the swim today.

Jason-funny story about seeing your Mom out training.  Had to make you shake your head when it happened. Oh, aging up is all that its cracked up to be!  Hope to do it many more times.

Randy

Michael/Experior-how are you recovering from the bike accident on Sunday? What's going to need to be repaired/replaced on the bike?

Survived my swim workout. Main set of 20X100(scy) on 1:55 wan't too bad.  Faded a bit over the last few but managed to keep them all at 1:35 or under.  The sun is out here.... I think we had about 15-18 inches of rain at my house from Saturday through Monday morning according to our trusty rain guage.

I am more sore today, than I was yesterday. It seems like that often happens, the first day after a race is a little bit of a honeymoon period and then day two, wham, I can barely move. I need to get in a little active recovery to get things going to be ready for a HM in four days. This may not have been so smart

I feel beat up but really not too bad.  The rain plus crash kept me from going super-hard in the race, so I'm really just dealing with the effect of the crash -- the race didn't really hit me that hard.

Front and rear derailleur are trashed.  Rear brake lever too.  There are some scrapes on the frame and cranks which are annoying but superficial.  All told about $650 worth of damage.

I'm basically OK, though.  Scabbed over and swimming resumes tomorrow or the next day.  Biking and running definitely tomorrow.

Yeah, second day after is usually the worst.  Focus on easy swim and very easy bike.  Do not run!

Too late! Did a 4.5 mile shuffle last night that still hurt but this morning I feel so much better.

Michael - glad to hear you are recovering.

I had my body comp tested today. It was an expensive test that I was able to have done for free as a promotion. It's supposed to be super accurate. It measured my body fat % at about 25 while my home scale today reads 27%.

Ultimately, the results don't tell me anything that I didn't already know, which is that I'm moderately lean, but could stand to be quite a bit more fit if I paid any attention to what I ate. I'm glad I went and had it done, simply because I can put it out of my mind now, knowing that my home scale is accurate enough and try to just focus on fitness.

That is pretty accurate for a home scale.

I doubt mine is accurate as far as an absolute number goes, but it does seem to track upwards and downwards trends pretty well so long as my level of hydration is about the same whenever I stand on it.

My favorite function is the 'metabolic age' reading.  Meaningless, but fun.  Right now, I'm 12.  Don't tell my wife.

Just got a corrected run time from my race last weekend -- 41:40 instead of 42:16.  FOr some silly reason, 42 is a kind of mental barrier for me.  Below that and I feel like it at least didn't suck.  So as silly as this sounds, I'm happier now.

Trying for a ride and run today.  What do folks have going on?

43 mile ride done this morning.  Perfect day for a ride, and I focused on hill repeats to exhaustion.  My legs are toast but I feel good, accomplished!  Now off for a work meeting (second one this week even though it is technically a "week off").    Purchased 2 new water bottles the other day and on monday's ride, despite duct tape it was launched.  I was pleasantly surprised today to see it sitting upright on the side of the road waiting for me.  I really appreciated this, although I did not drink out of it as one never knows.......

Michael-glad you are healing and able to get back to training.

Jason-that half marathon is going to be interesting!

Jimmy-nice ride.

Schedule has a steady 1.5 hour ride followed by a 10 minute brick.  Hope to get that done this evening,

Randy

Nice ride Jim.  Are the bottles narrower?  Are the cages aluminum?  If so you can bend them a bit to hold tighter.  I've succesfully used velcro straps to hold down behind-the-seat bottles.

Got in a lovely 2000m swim this morning! All by myself. So peaceful. Just a straight up swim. I have a sprint this Sunday, so wanted to make sure I could swim non stop still.

Who is going to be racing this weekend?  I know we have Blanda crushing a sprint and Jason "shuffling" a HM after killing it at his HIM last weekend.  Anyone else?

Whats everyone have going today?  I have 45 minute run planned at lunch and 45 minute easy spin on the bike this evening.  High here is suppose to be 93.....may hit the treadmill instead of the pavement for the run.
