I am off to the Doc. (maintenance issues only) Then work, run and pack!!

The hubbie is taking the dog to her 'vacation spot' and I feel such awful guilt! 2 whole weeks!!

Just think how happy she'll be when she gets home and sees you again!

That, and she is staying at a veritable doggie spa. But it is worth it to keep me from worrying and spoiling my trip.

Ann, I hope that you are feeling better.  Need to be healthy for Key West.

Beta testing for new hires.  The library has for years done all the hiring from HQ.  Even if your branch has an opening, you are not necessarily on the interview panel.  Plus, Human Resources, can move people from one branch to another as needed.

With the Beta testing for the new PT positions, the interviewing will be done at the branch where the position is open.  So, I will actually have input regarding the potential employees.  It also means that I would get more experience with the hiring process.  With the system approach, you might get on an interview panel once ever few years, but with the hiring freeze and only filling critical roles, there has only been one hiring in the past 16 months.  So, no once is getting experience with the interviewing or hiring process.

Also, once we bring on the new employees, since they are only 17 hr a week positions, it would be hard to make them go through two weeks, 30 hours each week, of training.  So, I will be working with the training manager to determine what training can be handled at the branch level, the time frame that training will be done, etc.  That will be a challenge, because I am looking at bringing in one who will be nights and weekends, the other would be days and weekends.  They will be on opposite weekends, so hard to train at the same time.  Scheduling will be interesting.

My birthday is coming up, my 40th birthday. My husband is going out of his way to make it incredibly miserable. Keri and I were goofing around and I kept telling her "the big day is coming up" or "2 weeks until the big day". My husband has said 5 times now that it's not a big day, it's just another day. I told him if he says it one more time I'm going to punch him in the teeth. Why does he have to be like that?

Don't worry, we are going to celebrate the BIG DAY with you in Key West.

Well, a little early but that will just extend your celebration by at least a week.

Okay, got the news on the hip.  There is a torn tendon.  Years ago they did not do the surgery on these but have started to over the past few years.  So, now I need to decided if I will get the surgery, and if so, I need to decide what Dr.  The one that I went to has done lots of hip replacement surgeries, but not just one to go in and fix a tear.  He is not pushing me into the surgery, but is willing to do it if that is what I decide.  He said I need to consider whether or not the pain is something I can live with, or not.  If he goes in to repair the tear, he can remove the bursitis.  That would definately be a positive.

Meanwhile, no running for me. 

Okay, computer posted before I got a chance to even write anything.  From what I heard, it sounds like most of the kids were okay, but it was iffy on the bus driver.  Thoughts and prayers to everyone.

I'm so glad you have an answer, and there's help out there if you choose to pursue it right now, but it sucks that there's a torn tendon. We'll have to have a drink to that in KW.

I know it's Sunday, but I'm at work this morning, so I thought I'd stop by.

Good news - I found my lost wallet, so I have a driver's license, but I still have no check or credit cards because I cancelled them.

Bad news - I lost my car key and I only have the 1

Let me rephrase this - My husband lost my car key and we only have the 1. I drove the truck to work today, not sure how they're getting to church, or how we're getting 2 kids to 2 different places for basketball games this afternoon.

Glad that it was not as bad as it could have been.  There must have been many angels at work keeping those kids from what could have been a much worse scenario. 

Are you at work so that you can have FRIDAY off to go to KEY WEST???

Bummer about the car keys. Hubby will have to improvise.  Lots of family in the area to borrow a car from. 

Great about the wallet.  Now we don't have to worry about you getting ID for the plane.  They rest will come since the bank has already put through the paper work a week ago.
