Good news TAN!

Got my USCIS receipts in the mail yesterday!!  I don't have a Green Card yet, but it means that they've received the applications and I *should* get appointments for fingerprinting and interviewing soon. (note: by "soon" I mean government soon, which means probably another 4 months or so...)

WOOT!!!

when can you start looking for a job? (Tony wanted me to ask). What do you want to do when it's time to look for a job? (again...Tony asking)

Ha!  As Tony already knows (we actually DO talk every once in a while) I can't look for work AT ALL until I have the Green Card in my hands.  To do otherwise would be very, VERY bad in terms of being allowed to stay in the country.

What to do... what to do... it would be easiest to go back into law as that's where I have the most experience, but if something else comes along that's interesting I'd be more than happy to check out other opportunities.  Bottom line... something that will PAY me!

what would you do if you could do whatever you wanted???  i love fantasizing about what i might be when i grow up one day...

there are some jobs i would do for enough money to survive on...and anything that involved being in a pool all the time would be included in that list.

i really want to be an international reporter all of a sudden.  never had any interest whatsoever in journalism, and now i want to travel the world and learn about it and write about it.

that's because you write about wheat and corn.

i don't like the idea because i think it's glamorous, i like it because other countries and cultures fascinate me.  i travel a LOT for work, international travel is not glamorous at all.

I have this great idea ... actually came up with it with the last BF.  I still think it could be a hit.  One product, completely customized for anyone and any occasion, it's a fun item .. all the biz would be online.  It would be a hit!

Talk to people, they know how to move this stuff along (FAST).  just need them to buy into the idea....and BAM!!!

Hey TAN,

Following on Brad asking about his Legacy Project, I was thinking about what outreachy thing I can do especially over the next 6 months with my family still back in Florida.  My church has the below three things.  What do you think I should do?

1) Prison Outreach - Marine, Big guy, I think I can handle this, plus I did this in Charleston with Juveniles when I was at The Citadel.

2) Post Release Outreach - This is an outreach mentor program for people who were just released.  This is probably my least-favorite idea.

3) Tutoring for Kids in a Hispanic Community - Many are here with their parents on work visas.  The kids hardly speak english, many of the parents are illiterate.  I am fluent in Spanish.  But I would worry about if I have to travel leaving the kid stranded on his/her tutoring along the way.

Any thoughts?
