YAYYYY!!! I'm officially NOT getting deported!!!

The interview went really well and at the end I was told to expect my Green Card in the mail in 2-3 weeks, to stay out of trouble with the police and to make sure I apply for my permanent Green Card before the 2 year deadline otherwise bad, bad things would happen.

WOOOO HOOOOOOOOO!!!!!

Excellent news Monica. Congratulations. The more tax payers the better.

Interesting news item of the day- Woman's corpse found in L.A. hotel water tank. Body had likely been there for more than 2 weeks. One hotel guest did comment she thought the drinking water had a funny taste over the last eight days....

Morning.

Morning peeps!

Supposed to be meeting some folks from Kansas, Nebraska, Missouri, Arkansas and Oklahoma. Not sure how that storm will affect things...meeting is in Dallas, but mostly they would've flown out yesterday.

Gave up to come inside and cook up some balasmic braised chicken breasts. Maybe some mashed cauliflower if I get crazy.

A coworker gave me a crock pot recipe for that and it is out of this world!  How do you make yours?

On the stovetop - first brown chicken breast and veggies, then add 1/2c balsamic vinegar and a can of diced tomatoes, simmer for 15 minutes. It was SO good!

sounds delicious and SUPER easy.

Good morning TAN

Last night when I was taking my kids home a I was stopped in line at a stop light when a kid on a sport bike looses it and ditches his bike behind me and slides the bike under my car. I felt the bump and then saw the kids arms and legs rolling to the side of me. I told my kids not to look outside because I thought he was dead but then he popped up. I got out and checked my car and after removing the crumbled bike from under my hitch I only had some slight paint scuff and one little crack were the hitch has a mounting point. The kid was complaining that he JUST BOUGHT THE BIKE THAT DAY and had no insurance. My kids and I are fine and the guy got picked up from his mom (snerk) but I think my boy is forever off the idea of getting a motorcycle after seeing that the bike looked like after.

Was he a Zombie or something? How'd he lose his arms and legs and still get up?

Good lesson for your kid. I think sport bike idiots like that give all motorcyclists a bad name.

ETA- did you do a police report and everything? I could see a twerp like that trying to sue you when he wakes up today.

I got a police report and contact info for the lady behind me who saw it all go down so I am covered.

So glad he got up.  When I was 16, I went to a friend's funeral who wrecked in the first couple of days of getting a bike for his birthday.  I cured me of ever wanting one.  Even a modest 250 cc bike can accelerate so much faster than a car.  A kid can get lose it before, he (or she I guess) even knows what i happening.

That is actually good news.  I hope your kids learned a lesson too.

YIKES! What a shock. Glad everybody is okay and I really hope that kid learned a lesson. At least maybe your kids got some really healthy respect for motorbikes.

I don't get this. If I buy any motor vehicle, I need proof of insurance and a valid license (or learner permit for a motorcycle) to get temps and take it home. Is CA different where you get some grace period after buying?

At first I told my kids to not look out the window because I thought he was dead and didn't want them to see it but then he poped up. I've had two friends die on sport bikes.

if you buy it from a legitimate seller, that is the case.  if you buy it off your friend, or some dude on craigslist, or whatever, there is no way to stop you from driving it home without executing all the proper paperwork.

Ya it was a good lesson and none of us were hurt so I have to be thankful. The only real lame part on my side is that I had to call the ex to come pick up the kids and she was giving me some tude but thats normal so meh.

I think the Earth will implode and Hell will freeze over the day she DOESN'T give tude. Yup. Just how she is. It's probably like Korean Water Torture to have to put up with that all the time though. WATER OFF A DUCK'S BACK!

Morning TAN.  Been pushing snow for a few hours and finally got the plant parking lot opened up, so we can attempt to start working.  Love it when a plan falls apart.  :-)

At least it is FRIDAY!!!!

Snow Day #2 - still buried, quite literally.
Going to find my Yak Traxx and hike to the hardware store to buy a snow shovel. Maybe pick up some fruit at the grocery store next door. But want to wait for it to warm up a wee bit first. Wind chill is still at -2.
