We've already established the tandem precedent. Perhaps we could trick out the bike to look like a bull and wear sombreros on top of our helmets, you know, for nostalgia.

AND A BIG HELLZ YES TO THE BUBBLE MACHINE.

Pure gold! (the idea, not the bike)

Am I blind or why can't I find it in the main forum?

Oh dayum... now I seriously HAVE to be there to see the bubble machine!!

Mel, it's in Tri Talk - looks like a LOT of fun is going to be had at this inaugural event next year!  (yes, I think this should be a yearly event)

Totally.  That would be perfect.

It doesn't have to be revealing, just fun, preferably outrageous.

Btw, I think Ben is ignoring me...

This would not be out of place as your answer to Jen ...

I just want a glimmer of hope that you're gonna throw down in a sparkly speedo and a fixie at some tri that has yet to be named.

And that's why I wasn't answering.

Originally posted by Artemis Ok, Manatees, opinion time: what does one wear to an interview? Position is at a hospital with other PhDs/MDs/MD&PhDs.  Do I have to wear a suit?  Would that be the best option?  I don't currently own one, but I'll get one if I have to.

You're applying for a post-doc position?

In a city?

If those two assumptions are correct, I'm afraid it has to be a suit dear.  Bummer, because they suck azz.

Yeah. For sure a suit.

Ahhh I love being in a creative industry Laughing

Yep, definitely a suit.  I got one JUST for interviewing with law firms for a paralegal position and haven't worn it since.  I can't say whether it helped me get the job or not, but I'd rather be over than under dressed.

Do you have a date for the interview yet???

Tentatively October 11.  Finalizing details and travel now.

WOOT!!!

Originally posted by switch BTW, Salty, I'm all for getting DQd, but I just want to be able to finish the race.  Though getting pulled from the course and possibly arrested would be pure win of a different level.

So we were watching one of those cop-type shows last night, maybe Alaska Fish & Wildlife or something like that.  Anyway... so they knock on the door at a farm house and a totally fit woman answers the door. I commented about it and my son joked about a farmers wife being that fit. Of course I had to tell them about a certain Iowa farmer's wife I know who is just as buff. Cool

Any of you guys have a "go-to" store purchased potluck item? I run commute so potlucks don't work great for me. Now I am up shyte creek without a paddle. I could maybe pull of showing up empty handed since it's my last day. Or maybe I should just bring beer ...

Usually humus and a package or two of baby carrots, or some sort of chips and dip.

Or just go with beer.

Dude, farm wifeys are totally buff (Elesa being case and point.) My mom and her 7 sister (yeah 7...) and my grandma were all super fit from growing up/working on the farm.

Bucking hay is no joke.

When we go to potlucks in Denver we usually show up with the ever popular meat n cheese tray. Of course they're a bunch of Wisconsin Polacks so.... beer works too

Yep, this was my Grandma too - she grew up on a cattle farm and seeing pics of her when she was growing up, holy dayum was that woman ever fit - much like Elesa... though Elesa's way buffer (and hotter) than my Grandma ever was.

Thankfully Elesa has much better taste when it comes to alcohol than my Grandma did, she would only drink sweet sherry *shudder*

SurprisedYou said maybe and beer in the same sentence? And not like you're pondering a choice between two. You okay today?

Ok, break from manatee silliness for a moment for a running shoe question...

I know we discussed the Brooks Pure line back in August (I just went back and read it) but...

I am thinking of adding another pair of Pure's to my collection. I was looking at REI and they have the Connect (which I have now), the Drift and the Flow. I'm wondering if I should stick with the Connect or get something different for variety. Thoughts on any of these shoes and/or the need for variety?

Now back to your regularly scheduled chatter...

One of em has more stability, one has less drop, I'm not sure I remember which is which though. My only shoe rule is that if you find one you like, buy lots of them, the manufacturer is bound to change them soon.

That being the case, if you like the Connect, get more, before they are "Updated".

Such a personal preference kind of thing. Just do what you want.

Personally, I have a wide variety of shoes. I don't like getting used to any one make/model. The drift is the most minal, least amount of drop no? Do you know if this kind of shoe would work for you?

I thought about that too. Looking at the drift, flow, connect and cadence on the REI sight and the main difference I see is price. I guess I'll have to go try some on Laughing
