I hope you found some motivation.  If not, I thought I heard Dee warming up a taser, possibly the leopard print one.

I heard the zzzzzzzzzttttt of the taser coming up behind me. I ran. And got a ST session in. I am on track for my goals.

kns57 - 2009-11-24 12:19 PM Thanksgiving plans.  Hubby and I are working the finish line at the 1/2 marathon in Atlanta.  Then we will drive up to Asheville, NC, to visit with my dad.  Drive back on Friday (no black Friday shopping for us) and then I get to work on Saturday.  Sunday we are thinking of having a mini Thanksgiving dinner with the two of us, our son and his girlfirend.  Two out of the four are vegetarian (son and I) so Turkey dinners are not a big deal in our house.

How cool
I am only about 1/2 an hour from Asheville.

I remember from last year.  You are east of Asheville, just over the mountain on I40.

disturbed275 - 2009-11-24 2:16 PM Hey gobblers!

I finally got into the doc to check on the hip.  She believes it to be trochanteric bursitis, which was was the frontrunner for my self diagnosis.  I have a series of stretches to work on everyday and she even wants me to try some run/walking before the next appointment.  Follow up will include some treadmill running to check out the gait to see if that could be attributing anything.  Good news is no limit on the biking, which I was worried about.

Glad you got it checked out.

billsorg - 2009-11-24 4:33 PM I'm starting to have some significant pain in my left hamstring (toward the top). I've noticed it ever since I finished the HIM back in late September. The 2 days following the race, I could barely walk, but I thought "that's just the way it goes" after your first HIM. Well, the pain decreased, but keeps coming back whenever I do any running. It seems less pronounced when I play racquetball vs. when I go for a run or run on the treadmill. And I can't seem to "stretch it out". It's just very, very tight. It's definitely not so painful that I can't run, but I don't want it to get much worse. Just something to keep an eye on, I guess.
Hmmm, maybe a visit to a massage therapist might be helpful.  either that or some sessions with a foam roller.

It is almost 7:30 and I still haven't run today.  I know I will feel better if I do.  I am stalling.....I also need to clean up from dinner, finish my office notes from yesterday and make some cranberry sauce.....Okay enough...dishes then the dreadmill!!

I don't entirely know what trochanteric bursitis is, but it sounds painful.  Hope the stretching helps and you can get back to running soon.

Stalling?????????

Unacceptable.

OK, I'll offer you a choice: treadmill or taser. Which do you prefer?

I'll go recharge the taser batteries, just in case....

Dee is never truly AWOL.

She is always lurking, and her tasers are always set to "Cattle Prod" strength.

Good thing, or I'd have had to stopped off and tasered you on my way through Asheville this weekend.

Hm, Kendra will be passing through that way too. She can take one of my tasers with her. Just in case.

That's the fancy term for hip bursitis, swelling of the bursa on the outside of the hip joint.  Sounds like rest/stretching is the main way to treat.  I just have to be patient, which is difficult for me

Happy Thanksgiving!

There won't be a Sunday update this week. (Since Monday is the last day of the month.)

Please have the spreadsheets updated with your total November numbers by 8 PM EST, Tuesday December 1st. I'll pull the numbers on Tuesday evening, and give everyone the FINAL STANDINGS.

Also, since it's a Holiday, I'm giving you all a Holiday Present! (You do know I'm a giver, right? Heh.)

You may now reach 105% of your total goal! That's right, you can help out lagging teammates by achieving more than 100% of your total goal!

Have a happy, healthy, and safe Thanksgiving!

Dee

Hey Gobblers.  Been busy the past few days.  I was a *good* girl and nursed the knee this weekend.  I ran the 8k instead of the Half that I'd planned on doing.  Knee held up ok, although still a bit stiff.  I'll get another run or aqua jog in and will help finish above 100%.

Hope everyone has a fabulous Thanksgiving.

Morning Gobblers.
When I set out yesterday for my run. The local band of wild turkeys was just outside the door. these hoodlums include two white turkeys. This is taken through the window so it is a little foggy looking.

I'm heading to the gym to hit the treadmill for a 45 min or so run... maybe some sprint cycles. I was reading up on my hamstring soreness and it seems that less volume and higher intensity may do it some good. It's actually feeling OK today. I should be able to get to 105% of total goal and avoid the dreaded TASER... even if I'm going way over goal on biking and running and I'm short on swimming. I think my December challenge will be much more swim focused. It's a ghost town here at work. I'm probably cutting out at 3. EVERYONE HAVE A HAPPY AND SAFE THANKSGIVING!!!

Hiya Gobblers!

I just finished another swim workout this morning.  I hit my swim goal and I have at least one more session in me before the end of the month.  Might just shoot for 50000 yds for the hell of it.

102% of goal... Yippee! I still plan on getting in a few more workouts before the month is through, but at least it's good to know that it will be a "taser-free" Thanksgiving! Did a 45 minute run at lunch with very little pain. Dee... thanks so much for putting this challenge together... I believe my November last year consisted of ZERO swim workouts, ZERO run workouts and ZERO bike workouts. Happy Gobble-Gobble, Team!

Hi Gang...

Sorry I've been a little MIA...  or well, just M

I did get a trainer session in and have figured out how to complete  8 workouts over the next 5 days (which will get me to 100% of goal)
Yes it means three bricks... but it's not like I'm working out that hard right now... and with the paid holidays this week it allows me to go into work late on Monday and get another swim in when I normally wouldn't.

LATER!!!

Got in a short run today--but it wasn't 15 minnutes long, so I'm not even gonna log it, let alone count it as a session towards my goal. my son challenged me to a race to the car after I met with his teacher after school this afternoon. Little did he know I was parked 2 blocks away and we went out the back door of the school. needless to say we were both wheezing from the smoggy air by the time we got to the car. Does anybody else live somehwere that gets cold and smoggy like it does in Salt Lake?
