ex_rower - 2009-02-12 9:05 AM speaking of cold swims, are you guys required to shower before you get in your pool?

There are signs that say you have to.   I always do, and I wish the pools around here enforced that, and had a rule about swim cap use for people with long hair.  Even if I had to wear a swim cap as well, I would be willing to.  I hate swimming through big clumps of hair.

yeah the hairballs are gross, they really enforce the shower rule, and our pool the water is always like 79-80 deg, and yesterday they had the air conditioning on!  It was so f-ing cold

When I started swimming again 3 years ago I was swimming in a rehab pool that was kept at 88-90 degrees.  I don't think I could handle that at this point.  But they had the shower rule and the swim cap rule.  That was nice.

Just emailed the bike shop that did my road bike fitting last year to schedule some time in for fitting my tri-bike this year.  Love that the shop I bought it from said that they would do it, and then that their fitting turned out to be "Well that looks about right, ride it for a few months to get used to it and come back if you think we need to make any adjustments."

The pool was meant for (older) people doing rehab for knee surgeries and such.  They didn't move around enough to keep themselves warm, so they just cranked up the pool temps.

so, I think I sweat too much. I went running iwth a guy friend on Sunday. After the run, I looked like I had just been in the shower and he was bone dry. Seriously, my hair was dripping wet. Is that normal?

yes.  when i'm training consistently i sweat like a mo-fo.  i sweat in the pool?

this is what sweat tells you:

1.  you are way out of shape - you sweat like a mo-fo

2.  you are starting to work out and get into shape - you don't sweat much

3.  you work out hard and your fitness is improving - you sweat like a mo-fo - it's your body getting more efficient at cooling you off.

it's proven people who are in better shape, sweat more often and it's more diluted (you lose water, not as much salt)

Ok. Let's hope that i'm at number 3 cause seriously, I sweat more than a lot of the men on my team. I know I can't be out of shape 6 weeks into IM training. That just CANNOT be possible.

ATXtri - 2009-02-12 10:24 AM Oh ok. so, I think I sweat too much.

Aren't some people also genetically predisposed to sweating more?

Great, not only do I have bad feet but I sweat excessively. That's so hot.

I was asking that more for myself.  But yes, sweaty girls are hot.  Definitely the kind of girl I would go after.

That's good, considering all the e-pizza and stuff..

I meant in real life.  Sweat could interfere with the e-stuff.  Cause the computer to short out or something.

Dude hot sweaty pizza is fantastic.

I could definitely go for some right about now.
