Before next Sunday I will post my full name and number, PLEASE FOLLOW ME ON RACE DAY!!  I was just thinking during yesterday's run, I will DEFINITELY think about each and every person in this group to help get me through the miles on the run.  The Swim and Bike I'll care less about you guys -   But on the Run (and perhaps the end of the Bike) I'm gonna need you guys BIG TIME!! Knowing you are following me and cheering for me will help me focus and keep my mojo.

Looking forward to following your race, you have our support!  I hear what you're saying, that having a group supporting you can help get you through the rough times in a long event.

I had a wonderful long ride yesterday but a horrific thought did come to mind near the end of my ride... that during my HIM I wouldn't be able to wear my beautiful ASSOS padded cycling shorts - specifically geared for women and long distance riding !!??  Do you do some pre-race training in the clothes you'll wear for the race?  Or should I continue with my comfy shorts and then just grin and bear it on race day?  Maybe it's different for boys but ohhhhh I want padding!! :S

Ah yeah, it is different for boys, but padding and comfort are still very important. You should wear what you plan to wear on race day. You do not want any surprises. Clothing, nutrition, rituals...all as you would do it on race day.

As for my taper, the Ironman Training haze is lifting.  My biggest obstacle is limiting my eating!!

DC, you are going to have the race of a lifetime. You have done the training, you are going to be healthy and ready to go come race day, and you have provided everyone in your mentor group with extensive encouragement and guidance. Just stay calm, plan for the day and get ready to have some fun. Oh, I forgot, have your best smile ready for the finish line! Your peeps will be following you on race day.

I ate a bunch while tapering, my body just kept burning it!!

I will CERTAINLY be thinking of the both of you Sunday, I leave this Thursday to Canada (Calgary) for five days. I am going to look at the results on my phone though! I probably won't be able to post til I get back though.  With that said.....

WOW!!!  I am SO EXCITED for the both of you!!

George, 7 is your lucky number!!  You're going to do GREAT!!!  Time for all that training to pay off!

Bobby, June 24, 2011 will be a day you will never forget.  Take it all in and enjoy your race!!  You have put in the time, training and you're one FAST dude!!

Think of race day as a long training day with 2500+ (or however many are registered) of your triathlete brothers and sisters.  Let your body do what you have been training it to do the last six months.  I wish you both the BEST of luck and an AWESOME race!!!

IMUSA here comes the storm!! I hope you are ready for these two guys!!

WahooOOOOOO!!!   Go get em guys!!

I think once you are an Ironman you have an expectation to live up to eh?  Wink

As you have said in the past "it is a lifestyle".  I am still training.  I was curious how my body would respond to a fast race and it went well.  Working on a race report.

Thanks Rene. I am so looking forward to racing on Sunday. While I will not be right on DC's heels, I do plan to join him eventually at the finish line. Good to hear that you had another great race. Funny how easily you can get hooked on this stuff. Train on!

BTW, I used RaceDayTracker to send texts updates to my family of where I am on the course.  They LOVED it!!  I didn't tell them in advance so it was a nice surprise.  It is free and I made a donation after the race.  Check to see if they will be doing texts for IMUSA.  ...and if you do use them, please BOTH of you add me as an email.  I will PM you my email.

I agree with what everyone said here, train with what you will race in. If you want to wear those padded shorts OVER your tri shorts try it now to see if it works. If you where the padded shorts and then change shorts for the run that would work too (but takes up time).  Whatever you choose, practice it now!

I fractured my foot and the ligaments chipped a piece of bone. I have no words. Unless I have a miracle I won't be able to run in two weeks.

Havajava - 2011-07-21 8:37 AM why cant you wear the padded shorts?

They might get a little waterlogged during the swim and be uncomfortable during the run.

OMG re your foot!  That must be really disappointing not to mention a pain (literally) to happen in the summer!

So it's 39 degrees up here but feels like 49 degrees - that's a 120 degrees for you folks down there!!  Funny that there's a breeze but there's just no oxygen in the air!!  BRUTAL!  And yet... I kept thinking "hmmmm maybe I should go for a run and train in this weather"  Tomorrow night maybe... we'll see.

Thanks for the advice re: clothes - I'm too slow to take the time for a clothing change - grin and bear it!!

I've caught the racing fever - if this weekend is partly decent temp-wise I may drive up for a local sprint.  First of the season!  We'll see.  Good luck to you both this weekend!  Can't wait to hear the race results!
