My vacation day was spent finalizing the redesign of the Hartford Track Club website.

Do me a favor and let me know what you think.

Original:  www.hartfordtrackclub.org

Redesign: beta.hartfordtrackclub.org

Nice job! I really like the changes! Much more modern looking!

Everyone is doing great with training.  Keep it up.  Day four post surgery, and doing better, but driving myself nuts.  I am not someone that can sit around the house all weeekend. Still some soreness.  PT yesterday was ok.  I can raise the arm to 90 degrees frontwards.  And can now button a shirt with slight pain.  Shaving, brushing teeth, and getting dressed is quite comical. Putting socks on is even funnier and frustrating to say the least. No running for about 6 weeks, cant have the shoulder bouncing around. I may be able to get on the eliptical in 7-10 days, but obviously using the stionary arms, not the ones that swing back and forth.  Damn, it just took my 10 minutes to type this with one hand!! ha

Rizer - take it easy. In a couple of days you will be surprised how much better you feel! Don't rush it!

Hey there everyone,

Today was a bit of a struggle for me, I just didn't want to get out of bed in the morning and do my run, and when I did I had the cravings for some crappy junk food breakfast instead of making something myself. But I forced myself, and feel much better for it. Early to bed tonight I think, that should make things easier tomorrow morning.

Summer's finally arrived, nice blue skys and temperatures from about 60 - 75 deg F. So considering the snow some of you others have to deal with, I should have no reason to complain. Smile

Did my swim at lunch today, so I've got the afternoon off today, bring on the BBQ.

Hope everyone's going well.

carrie639 - 2012-01-17 3:55 PM  .... I have really got to stop cutting my toenails AFTER I take the ambien!!!!  Ouch, Ouch, Ouch

have you been ordering special smoothies from Jen?

Don't be a hater, Jeff.

Trust me, an ambien smoothie sounds pretty good most days. Id go Kennedy-style and add some whiskey, is that wrong?

Today is warmer 40s but crazy windy and it's supposed to get back down to single digits tonight

I want that cake for Conrad's 7th birthday party (next weekend).  Think 8 hungry 7 year olds can devour that thing in 3 hours?

carrie639 - 2012-01-17 7:18 PM I have never done kettle balls. Do you feel like you can get a full body workout with them? Ate there instructions on how to use them?

I absolutely feel like I got a full body workout.  She went through the exercises step by step in the first part, and then she offered a few different workouts.  I picked the 40 minute total body sculpting one.

It's a Lauren Brooks dvd.  I'm using 15 lbs. right now.  I may bump up to 20 in a couple weeks.

Positive thoughts coming your way! Think positive, be confident. How often do you do the screenings? Is this forever just to make sure nothing pops up again?

Question on IM nutrition

I have heard so say live off the course, and others say bring your own feast.

Any thoughts on this currently I am a Hammer nutrition guy. But that not served I have started to experiment with Ironman Perform and its been ok so far any thoughts?

I have never raced a WTC race, but Powerbar products (of which IronMan Perform is one) have always worked very well for me.  Plus, they are usually higher in electrolytes than others.

Kettlebells, medicine balls, dumbells, freeweights, they are all interchangeable.  they all give good workouts.

I've never done an IM, but I'm signed up for a HIM this summer.  I plan to use what's on the course.  It helps that I already use the products that Rev 3 uses - Gatorade and Gu.

I think it is much easier if you can live off the course if you can.  The number one rule is to try nutrition months before the race so you know what you can and cant tolerate.

Funny thing was that I have never liked pretzels and never thought about eating them during the race but toward the end I was craving pretzels at each station.  Now I have a fondness for pretzels.
