Champion ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() for days I have skipped this thread because my answer is, without a doubt, Not Very. Game Over. The toughest thing I ever endured was my first real breakup. (I mean post HS) And going through gobs and gobs of tests and medication protocols to get the right dosage to manage my bipolar crap. emotional pain is way way harder for me than physical. (when it hurts physically, I just stop, duh, are you people nuts?) |

No way around that one. If your arm hurts, switch to the other one. You won;t be able to drink as fast, of course, but you'll make it trhough more rounds that way too. |

Elite ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I guess since this thread is still alive I’ll post one of my "how tough are you" moments. I was in a foot chase with a guy who was shooting at me. There were too many bystanders around for me to return fire without risk of hitting an innocent so I continued chasing without returning fire. The bad-guy ran into a wooded area next to a playground. As I followed into the trees he turned one last time and tried to get another shot off at me. He managed to get around a barbed wire fence. My only option was to stop and duck or run through the barbwire and tackle him. I chose the barbwire route. The barbwire wrapped around my legs and pelvis but allowed just enough distance for me to tackle the guy by the waist. We both went to the ground, which knocked the gun out of his hand. I didn’t feel the puncture wounds until several minutes later. I figured that several small holes were better than one BIG hole. After the fight was over and I retrieved his gun I found that the last round had stove-piped. That round had my name on it. Instances like this is what makes me such a strong believer in God. |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() 1.) Played rugby in college (scrumhalf). I went to stiff-arm a girl in the chest while running with the ball. She dove for me at the same moment and I ended up punching her in the side of the head with my wrist at a weird angle. Continued to play the game in enormous pain with the last three fingers on my hand not working. 3 days later, I finally went to the doctor and I had broken 3 bones in the wrist. Was in a funky cast for over 6 months due to original casting error. Had to have lidocaine injected directly into my wrist so it could be reset and recasted. Hurt like heck. 2.) Ran my fastest 5k race after working a 12 hr night shift at the hospital as a nurse. Thought I was going to be sick...got the overnight shakes. Kudo's to Powerbar Gel pack with extra caffienne! |

The greatest being Velasqu7's holy crap toughness road to his IM. . wow... I am just humbled by your comment.... Thank you very much... I think we all are tougher and stronger than we think we are, we just don't realize it. My toughest moment?.... writing my living will before the removal of my brain tumor.. did not know if I was going to walk that one out. My sister in law (my brother's wife) had surgery to remove a brain tumor two years ago. She found out she had the tumor the day before Thanksgiving of '03 and had surgery December 6, 2003. I have known her for a very long time. I was there when she had the surgery. Until that point I had never considered her tough. Every since then I consider her to be one of the strongest people I know. She was initially given no hope. After the surgery she had to learn to do most everything all over again. I watched her as she started physical therapy (which began by trying to move anything on her right side, the moved to trying to sit up). She is the mother of three young children, one of which is Autistic. She is tough, and my brother is tough. Now she is doing better than they ever expected. I'm not sure I could ever be that tough. |

I was diagnosed October 8 2003 and had my surgeries in January and February 2004, ran the chicago marathon in october 2004, ran the Austin marathon in January 2005 and did my First Ironman in November 2005...
