I sent a PM on the Facebook page asking about the athlete info and the swim. I got an answer back saying all race info would be available the 1st week of September. As far as the swim, the response was that "nothing has been said about a change in the swim at this time". I thanked them for the response and asked that they please give any updates on the swim as soon as they could. I told them that after St. George and Muncie people are worried about not getting the event they signed up for. The response back was that they would update as soon as anything became available.

I hope I'm completely wrong on this but I'm getting a bad feeling about this turning into a duathlon. I see from the link above that the lake is 5ft below it's full pool. Is anyone on here familiar with the lake and what that means? At this level are there submerged objects that can cause a hazard? All of the lakes I'm used to are natural lakes that are very deep, so as the water level drops you would just move further out on the beach to start swimming. I'm assuming since they already canceled the Moonshine Swim there must be some danger involved in the low water levels.

As you can tell this is a type "A" getting worked up 7 weeks ahead of time!!!

I sent a question about the swim on the FB page.  Someone official answered the swim would be held.  It's only 1.2. They can make short loops if they need to.

As for water spots, for three hours?  I plan to carry most of what I need myself.  Three bottles and some gels mixed in water.  Anything foraged from the course is gravy.  The body can only use about 250 to 300/cals an hour anyway.

I know it's late, but if anyone is still looking for a place to stay during the race, the people we are renting a log home from have another one available. I'm not associated with them in anyway except as a renter. They are good people and have been very helpful to us in the process. If you are interested just shoot me a PM and I will give you their contact info.

There are 2 aid stations on the bike at each end/turnaround of hwy 465. You hit them 5 times combined. Not sure the mileage but you can find that out fairly easy with google maps.

Edit: I went ahead and looked. It's roughly:

Is anyone in the area planning any rides on the course leading up to the race. I live about 3 hrs from Branson. I have an issue with my confidence on steep descents and would like to preview the course prior to the race. Aside from hitting the brakes too often on downhills I ride a 16-18MPH pace on training rides. Please PM me if anyone is interested or knows of any rides in the area.

The map is right, except that the course is run in reverse. It has always been run reverse to that map. I'm not sure why it's never been changed.

Not to add confusion to the run course discussion but I ran this race in 2010 and the course ran South out of Branson Landing all the way to Sunset Park.  Looking at the 2011 Athlete Guide, it looks like the run course has changed to run NORTH to Branson Community Park.

Even when you click on run course on the website it shows the 2010 version to Sunset Park.  Does anyone know which course was run in 2011 and if it will be the same for 2012?

Does anyone know if there is a shuttle service from the finish line back to the starting point? I couldn't find anything about that on the website, so I'm guessing not.

My husband's work schedule got messed up, so I think I am doing this one solo, and not sure how I am going to manage getting around post-race now... might be asking my parents or in-laws to come down from Springfield to help out.

It was the same in 2010 and 2011. I don't see why it would change this year. You run the 3 loops as shown in the map but in reverse.

Regardless of direction, it will be the same course as on the map anyway. There aren't any hills and it won't change the locations of the aid stations so it doesn't really change anything if you run it backwards...

There's tons of parking at the Branson Landing (finish). You go park there in the morning, drop off your shoes, whatever at T2, and then grab a shuttle to the start. They give you a big transition bag and as you leave T1 for the bike, make sure everything you had with you for the swim is in that bag and it will be waiting for you at the finish. Thus no need to go back to the swim start. (unless you're staying at the Chateau on the Lake, in which case I'm pretty sure they shuttle you back there).

Thanks for letting me know how the course was in 2011.  The only reason I thought things may have changed is because of the different run course shown in the athlete guide on the website.  It's totally different than the course from 2010.

Training has been going great!!! This week & next week will also be my biggest weeks and weekends of training. Then on Sept 8 (two weeks prior), I have an Olympic distance tri (which will act as one last tune-up)....then it's a two week taper.

BTW....this will be my first half iron distance tri

Great!!! I rode 50 miles Saturday, with a ton of hills (don't think it was quite 4,600 feet though...maybe more like 2,000 feet).

Next weekend it's 60 hilly miles on Saturday, followed by 14 flat miles on Sunday. Then taper....even though I do have an Olympic distance tri thrown in there for good measure (two weeks before Branson). That event will be a great OWS training practice.

Let's hope for good weather in 4 weeks!!

Last two years no.  The only place I think that are open for high winds would be the bridges.  Did notice a increase in cross wind at the bridges but nothing to write home about.
