Expert 897 Seattle WA | Subject: RE: Annual December Swim challange, ANYONE??? Wait a sec - why is it starting on Dec 4? Honestly it seems kinda dumb - it will make it much harder to keep track of your yardage. Since BT automatically tallies your monthly yardage, why make it so much more difficult to track where everyone is at? |

Expert 1135 Delano, MN | Subject: RE: Annual December Swim challange, ANYONE??? DRM - 2006-11-27 8:26 AM Cool! Looks like we'll have some decent participation again. I'd like to emulate what we did last December, have teams with captains for each team. I can have a spreadsheet template setup for each team that would be compiled weekly and then sent to me and I'll compile the full results. Teams for now would be as follows. If we need to consolidate teams we can do that too, or unless someone has a better idea for a team/new team let me know:
So any volunteers for captains??? If so please send me a PM. Since the 31st of Dec is on a Sunday I propose that this is started on Monday Dec 4th so we would have 4 full weeks. It is tough to go back and cull out a partial week of results so the 1st-3rd would not count. BTW, you goals can be in distance or time. If a goal is in distance I'd like to keep everything converted to yards (meters*1.0936133). IIRC when you look at someone Else's logs the units default to the Viewers Control Panel setting so if I need to double check anything I would see someones meters as yards. This is from page one. |

I know that's from page one. Since the logging tool can give us monthly totals, doesn't make sense to shorten a 31-day month to 4 weeks. (besides, I might need those first 3 days). Reporting 4 times is OK with me. |

I'm not a complainer, and props to those that started this challenge. But, I'm on record as the whole "starting on the 4th" idea makes no sense. To mimic last year, we all had a goal, and as the month progressed, we were occasionally updated as to everyone's percentage toward that goal vs. percentage of the month complete. Simple. "weeks" or number of times we report has nothing to do with it. |

Science Nerd 28760 Redwood City, California | Subject: RE: Annual December Swim challange, ANYONE??? I have to agree that we should use the whole month. It's going to make it much easier for everyone to track their distance for the month. The first "week" could be longer than normal - 12/1 -> 12/10 and then we only report four times. morey1 - 2006-11-30 12:25 PM know that's from page one. Pro 6582 Melbourne FL | Subject: RE: Annual December Swim challange, ANYONE??? Fine 1st to 31st it is, jeez. I never thought 3 days would matter that much to a challenge total. I looked at my training plan and simply subtracted 48 minutes from the total I would have had for the whole month. We've had a number of challenges that were longer or shorter than the actual month length... Any way, the team tracking spreadsheets are setup to record your weekly totals, the first "week" then is Dec 1st to Dec 10th. Remember this will account for 32% of the month so don't think you'll be doing any catching up later! Now enough about this issue, if you haven't found a team yet and go find one BTW, I will be sending a PM to the team captains later today/early tomorrow and will start a new thread for Captains only and one for the weelky results and the obligatory trash talking! Happy swimming everyone... Artemis - 2006-11-30 12:36 PM I have to agree that we should use the whole month. It's going to make it much easier for everyone to track their distance for the month. Science Nerd 28760 Redwood City, California | Subject: RE: Annual December Swim challange, ANYONE??? It's not that much of a difference for the total. It's just that we're just lazy (at least I know I am) and want to use the totals that are already in our training log. Thanks for changing it. DRM - 2006-11-30 12:55 PM Fine 1st to 31st it is, jeez.
