June 21 is 5 months away!!

How's the training coming?

My December was a little light, but January is turning out pretty well.  My IM training plan starts in a few short weeks.

I'm still recovering from a rather disappointing Houston marathon.  CDA training begins next weekend.  I can't wait to get back on the bike!

5 months???  Shoot that's plenty of time.  Move over and make some room on the couch.  I don't have to start moving for at least a couple of months.

Training started January 1st and it is going well.  Mostly working on consistency and a little bike base.

Does that couch have a motor???

I'm not really sure how my training is going, it is very different than what I have done in the past.  This is week 15 of 16 for my Endurance Nation "Out Season" plan that focuses more on harder efforts with less volume in order to increase your bike and run thresholds.  I was doing pretty good until the holidays and then got derailed for two weeks.  January has been good but my run intervals have not gotten back to where they were pre holidays.  Another oddity with Endurance Nation is there is no swimming during the Out Season so I haven't been in the pool since July!

In two weeks I'll start transitioning to more of their season type training that does have swimming and starts off with a couple of 3 hour bikes per weekend plus some shorter midweek interval work.  I guess that is when I'll see if I completely boogered up the last few months or not.

I've done a half marathon the last 3 Super Bowls but will not be doing that this year.  I can't say I'm too disappointed.  Hopefully I'll be able to keep a high level of focus through cda with my true training starting so much later in the year.

My training has been going pretty well.  I've just been fighting off a persistent cold and have a lot going on at work.  Hopefully as the weather warms up, I'll get fully over this cold.

February 1 is 20 weeks out.  If you are planning to do well at CDA, you might want to start getting more serious (unless of course you are already into more serious mode)...

My legs aren't responding well to the increased running volume. Sad, cuz that's the only thing I was increasing at this point. Got an appointment with an ortho on Monday hoping to nip this in the bud before things get too bad.

I have been going through ART for my Plantar Fascitis, it has helped tremendously. That in combination with regular stretching. I am back to running, 3 x per week mixing intervals, tempo and a long run. So far so good, much less pain. I am doing strength and core training on days I can't get out. Weather hasn't cooperated for road riding but I have gotten out on my mountain bike pretty regularly and ridden the trainer at least once per week. I am about where I need to be right now. Hoping for a early, dry, warm spring to get my mileage in on the bike.

So far so good!!!Laughing

Official IM training begins today for most of us today!  We are now 20 weeks away.  Who is ready to crank it up?  How did everyone do in January?

January was a good month for me with lots of bonding time between my hiney and my saddle.  Let's keep rolling!

January's totals:
Bike:22h 50m 17s  - 403.5 Mi
Run:10h 35m 07s  - 77.5 Mi

I wanted to get my January bike total over 400 miles, but x-c ski training cut into that a little.  After ski races are over on Feb. 22 I can crank it up. Swimming.....ummmmmm

January's totals:
Bike:19h 59m 22s  - 357 Mi
Run:11h 50m 12s  - 79.84 Mi
Swim:2h 35m 13s  - 7000 Yd

I'm working my way thru a personal 100 day training challenge.  So far it is going ok.  January totals were:

Bike = 28h 32m
Run = 17h 26m
Swim = 9h 35m

February plan look like just a little more than January with a focus on dropping some weight.

Well ... I thought I was going to be FAR FAR  behind, in comparison, to the group hours posted thus far, for the month of January, at first glance... but I've actually done well! (yay). Swim... oh yeah... slacked on +++swim sessions; and some slack at the end of Jan. on week nights due to work, etc.,  but I've made up what I could on wknds for slack days.  My legs have gained a lot of strength and my bike endurance is way better than it was, but I need to get on with some OWS as well as road riding/running.... which will soon come as training increases. This is alll with working FT and being a single mummy!

Here are my #s

Jan Totals

Bike:12h 30m
Run:3h 15m
Swim:1h 25m
Strength:5h 25m

Wow, good job everyone. I love how everyone is talking about their training and their plans for coming into CDA/Spokane area. I live in Spokane, so if anyone needs to know the "hot spots" let me know. Should be awesome.

My January breakdown:

Bike: 12h 48m - 240 Mi
Run: 16h 25m -122.4 Mi
Swim: Nada (pool at gym is down)
Strength: 4h 10m

My running miles are probably a little high, but I'm going into this thing as more of a runner than anything else. My swim is totally comfortable, so I'm not worried about that (yet). Need to get the bike to 350 for February, keep the running at 120 and get the swim to atleast 2 hours per week - if the pool at the gym wouldn't have had a roof cave in...yikes. Any hints or suggestions for you veterans???

Keep it up!

2000 yard swim this morning (in place of the 1700 yards on the plan for tomorrow.  A 12-mile run tonight/tomorrow, an 8-10 mile run tomorrow/Sunday, and a 2-hour ride (trainer) on Sunday.

Wow! Looking at all the totals from January was impressive.  You guys have a lot of good training going on.  Of course, you've made me realize how far behind I am.

My wife and I got back from Afghanistan a few days ago and we're in the process of getting settled in.  The bikes are at the shop getting serviced and we got our pool membership today.  Jorge is going to need to kick our butts into shape if we're going to be ready for this thing.

Is four months enough time?  I don't know, but we'll find out!

Welcome back.  Don't worry, 18 weeks of focused training is enough time.  Stay consistent with your workouts / recovery and you'll be good to go on June 21st.
