What a totally awesome present, Kristen!!

Santa is getting me clipless bike shoes but I didn't have time to go pick some out. I'll be at the LBS after my run tomorrow! Can't wait!!

I have a question... what does "Enders Shadow" mean?

Have a very Merry one everybody!

Nice Santa, Kristen!!!  Yay!  I got a new IPOD, as my old one died months ago.  It will be nice to have some running music again.  The kids have been up since 7, although my 6-year-old was awake and wandering around at 2 AM and didn't go back to sleep (in my bed, of course) until 3:30 AM!  "Mommy, I am so excited that I can't sleep, can we get up??"  NOOOOOOO!!!!

Of course I will post some pix in my blog later on, that's how I roll.  It's snowing hard here again, but I am planning a run with the dog before the onslaught of grandmas.

Merry Christmas, everyone!

I have a question... what does "Enders Shadow" mean?

It's the title of a book from a series by Orson Scott Card (the Enders Game series...) I identify with both Ender and Enders' Shadow (Bean) in the book - hence the name.

So where does everyone else's name come from? (OK, maybe HoofChick and TriathLynne are more obvious...unless there's more there than I know).

Kristen, have I told you that I know Orson Scott Card's son?  He is a coworker of my husband.  Anyway.....just so's ya knows....only 3 degrees of separation there!  I have to admit I have not read the books...but will check them out, I am out of reading material!

Medusa Ann....name came after too many tequila shots.  I was arguing that all fictional or historical one-named characters must have had middle names.  My middle name is Ann....and suddenly, Medusa Ann was born, and it stuck.  It's been about 9 years and has been my screen name ever since, on many forums.

PS-I am soooo ready to get back into my training plan now.  Too much snow, too much holiday, too much everything.... hopefully Lynne and I are hanging out tomorrow...

My middle name is Ann, too. Lol, Hoofchick Ann...

I'm hoofchick because I trim horses' hooves as a part-time business. I'm cutting back, but it's still a passion of mine.

I just finished a whole bottle of cheap champagne and god-knows-how-much cookies and dip (a frosting type dip that accompanies cookies instead of chips). I am going to feel AWFUL when I get up tomorrow! But, my plan is 75 minutes on the TM to get back on track. Cross your fingers that I can get back on target?

I hope everybody had a great Christmas!

Hope you all had a wonderful Xmas! I got some marathon training stuff.  IE an awesome training book, some glide and TADA A STICK! OH JOY OH JOY!!!!!

Our family decided to try something a little different year and we bought each other gifts from Goodwill. I have to say that it worked really well! It's nice to get something different - and not at all tacky!  When we shopped there yesterday I found brand new rain pants for cycling. Still with the tags on and everything.  $5!!!!!  Brilliant   Well chuffed.  Speaking of chuffed I have eaten far too much and will have to run sometime to work off these pounds.  Goodness.

Funny though. I also got Yaktrax. LOL

What a cool idea, shopping at Goodwill! I've been thinking about going there to do some clothes shopping when I get to my goal weight.

My plans today were to go do some time on the TM at the Y and then go shopping for some bike shoes. I kind of over-imbibed last night and I'm still trying to get my feet under me. Ugh! I'm too old for that crap! I wanna crawl back into bed...

Merry day after Christmas everyone!  Service has been pretty overwhelming, so no workouts for me recently .  But I'll be done Sunday and am taking Monday and Tuesday off.  I need a break!

My name is probably obvious- I am a mom, and an MD (in that order ).  I was in residency when I created it, and residency doesn't do much for your powers of creativity.

I'll probably surface again in a day or so...

I slept till 1pm today.  Urgh. I am having the worse stomach issues ever. I really hope it's from over eating. I'm dehydrated too. So I feel like crap. Was supposed to run today but meh.  I can't be arsed now.

For almost as long as I have been online I went by Kazho, Kaz for short. It was my gamer handle, and it was the handle I went by when I first signed on at BT. Then about a year ago, I pretty much quit gaming for the most part, at least for now. Since I was not really hanging out in the gamer crowd, it was just easier to adopt a handle that had my real name it, hence zenkimm was born. Zen for the ever elusive state of zen I am always looking for and Kimm, well, that one is easy enough, that is my first name.

I am leaving for the weekend right now...back tomorrow night, and no workouts scheduled between now and then.  I just have to be careful with all the food and drinks, try not to overdo it..... we are going to my grandparent's house which has been turned into a rental cabin since they passed away.  It is so fun up there, and all the little kids are going to come, too.  Crazy times!  http://wildwoodatmtrainier.com/

Hope you have a great weekend, Leslie! Trying not to overdo it hasn't worked well for me, but I'm back on the wagon now. I've managed to get everyone else in the house to eat up most of the junk for me - I still have a couple bottles of ale left, but that's worth it.

I think I'm back on the wagon. A little precariously, but there nonetheless. I kind of over-imbibed Christmas nights (a WHOLE bottle of champagne all by myself). And on top of that, countless munchies that I had no resolve to avoid due to said champagne. Yesterday morning (or afternoon) when I woke up, I felt like I'd been run over by a truck. Ugh! Actually, I may have posted all this already. Thurs. was a blur. Anyway, I finally dragged my hungover butt to the Y and felt much better afterward. Today, I feel totally human again. I did take a nap but more out of laziness than exhaustion.

I'm back!

Hi everyone

I hope everyone had a great Christmas. We got back from NY yesterday (after the usual 3 hour delay at LGA) and I was back working out this morning. My wife said she gained 4 pounds on our trip back. I refuse to hop on the scale, but I fear I am not too far off. I figure this just makes my goals a little more challenging.

Have a good day!!

I got back on the scale this morning, too. Up two pounds.

I'm waiting for DH to get home so I can go to the gym and do some time on the TM then swim.

Back to work tomorrow. Yuck! At least I only have to work Mon & Tues.

My goals for January:

1. TRAINING: Start following my marathon training plan. (15 weeks out!)
2. TRAINING: Get back in the pool and work through the 0-1650 to get my endurance back.
3. NUTRITION: Follow my eating rules (that I posted in another thread - I'll go copy those here later).
4. NUTRITION: Hopefully get weight below 140.
5. LIFE: Get my draft finished & out to readers.

I am back from a quick trip up to Mt. Rainier in the snow.  Totally fun! More in blog.  Here's my stuff:

My January Goals

1.  Run a half marathon, not at race pace, Jan. 3.  Oh yeah, a 5k and jump into Lake Washington on New Year's Day.

2.  2 x bike/ 2 x swim/ 2 x strength per week

3.  Run 25 miles a week minimum, increase speed slowly but surely

4.  Lose up to 20 pounds fast and then 20 pounds slowly (remainder of season)  I am doing Jillian Michaels "Making the Cut" plan for 30 days.  Stay tuned.

5.  Start representing the Seattle LUNA Chix Triathlon Team.  Yes, that is my BIG NEWS.  I am the new member of the team, and am very excited!!!!  http://www.seattletrilunachix.com/Default.asp

2. Run 3x a week, with a goal of running the Olathe half marathon at end of March.

3. Ride on my trainer 3x a week, working up to a 2hr long ride on the weekend

Holey cow, Leslie! I hope you have more polar bear in you than I do! I'm not jumping into anything cold on New Year's!

Your goals look great - I don't know much about Jillian's plan - what's that all about?

and a big WHOO WHOO on the Luna Chix team!!!! Congratulations!
