Hey Shammies. I got a 2 hr. drainer ride in today followed by a 3 mile run. ...then I went to work

This weekend I am getting together with some BTers to do a 50 mile ride ...which is not on the plan...but will put me way over my minutes. I see first place on the horizon!!!!

I see the waiter by the pool  with a drink heading your way  .

Hey shammies...  got my bike in at lunch while watching my beloved badgers implode once again at the end of a basketball game....  oh the pain...  counting last night's tri swim class as today's swim...

supposed to get in the 50s here this weekend so i may celebrate by tossing in an extra run on the calendar...

hope everyone has a great weekend...

Paul - I'm going to an irish themed dinner party tomorrow night... complete with irish whiskey tastings...  sunday may be a different kind of recovery day!!!  and we have our friends - the flahertys - coming over tonight...  going to be a very irish weekend...

Ah sure now that would be Grand . Have a fine weekend yourself and say hi to the mrs.

I am running the St. Patrick's Day 5K, sponsored by the SCV Knights of Columbus, with Mike McSkane, surely the best and most authentic Irish guy in town, as R.D. As always, the course is an out-and-back in Mentryville. (its hilly) It starts at 9 a.m. It will likely be the most lovely and fun race of the year. Beer , irish bread and other consumables and refreshments will be provided after this fine race .

God Bless now .

Oh below here is picture i found from last year / No idea who is in the picture

but you get a good idea its steep and people wear  green ..

5k went well I  ran well and had a beer and soda bread  after   and moved over to  swim clinic done  ,  not sure what the yardage was because i was talking to coach about my freestyle and breastroke and doing 25y and getting notes and making adjustments  .  He had good observations for both  strokes .   Only 5 people there  at the Masters  clinic and coach was really good at demonstrating what would help everyone with their strokes  .

Then Coach  asked what i wanted to work on .

I said :  what about flip turns ,  he talked for a minute , i tried it  and voila after 3  soso tries i was doing flip turns  ,  Then i worked on starter block .   Oh..... wait.... no starter block in TRiathlon  ..

Yes you are correct ..... but they are handy when swimming  the short course  and trying to go fast .  Who says i am competitive.

That's  awesome you rode the  race course  . I find then that the course feels  shorter on race day.

As you will have the major  landmarks in your head.

Good morning shammies,

Got my longest run to date with 8.67 miles in last night.

Hope to get a spin class in tonight, but I have some stomach issues going on, so lets keep your fingers crossed.

Also.... our spreadsheet looks good. Great work everyone!

Blew off the spin and the yoga class last night. Just wasn't feeling too good. I am pretty sure that I can do these workouts some other time.

Today it is going much better. Did my swim class this morning.

Begorrah , sure isn't strange that i leave the pool kind of early-ish for me this fine morning and check my logs that , for once , i swam the exact time the plan says . Well thats a first as i have stuck to the plan like a stubborn donkey.

Erin go bragh and dont forget to drown the shamrock on this fine St Patrick's day .

Hey shammies, Just getting in from my morning run. I set a new PR for 3 miles on the treadmill... Very happy... Just told my co-workers about it that going to run the Cooper River Bridge Race with me.... They said it's sabotage from me to talk about PRs that early in the morning.... He is just refering to me when I say, they sabotage me, by always having chocolate in the office.... Giving and taking!

Hello Shamies. I am catching up with the wreckage that my flu-like bug has wrecked upon my training plans. There is no way for me to make up the losses at this rate. I will drop out of the challenge. Even adjusting my goals for illness, there is a lot of work/family issues that have come up that it just wouldn't be fair to you all to impose. Oh, ya, and they are closing the pool this weekend starting Friday for maintenance. You know, the only times I get to swim!!!

I am pouting a little but, GO SHAMMIES !!!!

hey shammies...  keep it up...

Robin - sorry to hear about the flu bug.. can make things pretty miserable...

my apologies team...  but this will certainly be a down week for me.. as i'm battling an achilles that flared up on me on my run on tuesday...  which has not happened in 5 years...  i think its been from a lack of stretching...  that and maybe too large an increase in training volume...???

so looks like i wont get my long run in today...  but i'm going to try and get a short bike in to see how it feels...  it was fine during my swim yesterday... but hurts walking... and especially stairs... so trying to take it a little easy...

Hi Shammies

Got another run  in  . Today's run  had a big hill in the middle , it took me 8 mins of sustained climbing  to reach the top . Was hoping for a view of the city but it was covered in fog with about 100ft visibility .    After that,  a short spin on the bike.

Roni and Kat, what's cooking for you guys today?

We still have pretty weather for a day so it is a lunch time run for me. I am leaving tomorrow for an out of town wedding so there will be limited internet access.  so I repeat now:
