Tri History: Did first sprint in Tawas last year.  Was glad to finish.  Not happy with just finishing lol.  Played football in college and a little rugby after but always liked competing.

Tri Goals for 2009:  a few sprints and a olympic at the end (Tawas).  5Ks and maybe a 10k
Want to get down to 210 lbs this summer have lost around 20 so far.

Age Group: 30-34

Personal:  Married, 2 boys 5 1/2 and 2 years , work for one of Dow corning chemical plants

Area:  Freeland, Saginaw

Hey someone up in my neck of the woods.  We'll have to get together and do some "up north" training, might be able to drag some of the other northern (aka non detroit area) peeps up this way.  I used to live in saginaw, went to SVSU and the roads are alot better for riding up there compared to flint.

I was thinking is there anybody else up here.  Actually I know of a couple people who are into tris and they would be up for group training.  Sounds good to me.

Blake,

I am also a member at the DAC, although I work-out at Lifetime Fitness as the DAC is too far to drive daily for workouts, and we have a place in Harbor Springs (Hidden Hamlet, at the bottom of Nubs Nob). We are always up north for the 4th of July and try to make the DAC Up North party in August. If you are looking for a training partner while you are up there, just let me know!!!!

Started Triathlon last year after years of thinking about it. I did the Ann Arbor tri, got sucked in and did five last year.

2009 goals: I want to race as much as possible and start doing longer distances as the summer wears on. I may try the 1/2 IM in Petoskey in August if I have trained adequately, but I had better start putting in some more hours.

Age Group, 35-39 -- why are there so many fast people in this age group? - I am afraid that I will never glimpse the podium

Married with two kids. Keeps me very, very busy.

Area: Ann Arbor. I would love to make some group rides/runs/swims at ILRA, but family time always comes first.

I'm kind of suffering a sophomore slump this year as far as my training schedule is concerned. I'm looking forward to getting back out to ILRA so you guys can kick my butt a little. Don't look for me till after my daughters graduation party on June 6'th. Hopefully I can kick it into gear after that.

Do local BT'ers have a group training thing going on at Kensington? Because I'll probably I'd love to train with a group later in the year...and Kensington isn't TOO far from Ann Arbor.

Yep, we all get together out there fairly regularly.  Plus another place we meet to ride is Island Lake just to the south of Kensington - the roads are much nicer there and there's not nearly as much traffic.  Just keep an  eye on the Michigan forum, someone usually starts up a thread each week for a weekend meet.

Hi all of you new fresh faces!  I'm glad a few of you will be at the races I'll be at cheering or racing!  I loooove the excitement of someones first race.  Oh and here is my prediction.  You will each COMPLETE your races!  I have faith in you

I will usually post up a thread to meet out at Island Lake (ILRA) on Thursdays with my tri team and like coop said, someone usually posts workouts for the weekend at Kensington/ILRA.  For your races, make sure to keep an eye out for a BT gathering and/or my teams tent (RACING GREYHOUNDS).

Happy racing!

Wow, lots of MI peeps. Welcome new ones, and miss the old ones. Thanks for sharing your info; here's about me:

Name: Rick

Tri History:
Running races since high school. Picked up tri's in 2001 and have done a lot of tris of all distances (just not an IM), and other stupid tri events, marathons, and whatever else there is to compete in.   Love to race, but really don't like to train. So I don't. Much.

Tri Goals for 2009:   They got changed pretty radically when I took an assignment in Holland through July - pretty much killed Tri-season...but I'll do a couple tri's casually - prolly last-minute signups, do a lot of running in the fall - maybe a fall mary or 4.   Learn to ride at the velodrome, and get a few races under my belt - they race every weekend in the summer. Thinking about the cross-bike series in the Fall, too - we'll see. Just don't want to get hurt or finish DFL. Anything else is fine.

Age group: 40-44M

Personal: Divorced 5 years. 2 kids - one 14 year old boy and an 8 year-old girl, both of who are awesome handfuls of good-peoeple. No pets, but I play with other peoples' pets nicely. Pre-race meal is Sausage McMuffins w/egg and Diet Pepsi, or cinnamon rolls, more often than not. Not grown up.  Big feet.  Eat everything.  No warning label.

Occupation:  Management / IT Consutant

Area: Rochester Hills
