Tri History: This is my third season.  I've done something like four sprints, an oly, and a HIM.  I think I like the HIM distance the best.

Tri Goals for 2009: Go short, but go fast (relatively speaking).  Most of my races have been about surviving the distance.  Now I want to go faster.  So the strategy is to go faster at a shorter distance, so I can go faster at the longer distance.  Planning on sprints only this early season, and undecided about distances in the fall.

Age group: 30-34

Personal: Married, 3 daughters (9, 7, 3).  I'm the GM of a small manufacturing company.

Name: Eric - though most call me Coop

Tri History: This is my first season, so no tri's yet.  I just completed my first 1/2 marathon at the Martian Marathon.

Tri Goals for 2009: My big goal is to complete the Steelhead HIM.  In the interim I'll be doing the Ann Arbor Tri and probably a few others.

Age group: 40-44

Personal: Married, 3 daughters (6,15,16). I work for a software company out of California - the commute is a killer so they let me work out of the house, which is a good thing otherwise I'd have no time to train!

Tri Goals for 2009: say yes to anything and everything.  I'm doing a few tris, a 5-day mtn bike ride in Idaho (who's da ho?!), hopefully iceman (mtn bike) in the fall, a few organized road bike rides, and a muddy buddy.  anything else that sounds like fun and will fit into my schedule will be agreed to wholeheartedly!

Tri History: Started off as a runner when my sister talked me into doing a marathon in 1999.  My first sprint was the Nike women's tri in Naperville, IL all the way back in 2001.  Stuck with sprints for several years, then olympics, then a couple HIMs, and finally IM Florida this past November.  Still do a lot of running races and a little adventure racing for fun.

Tri Goals for 2009:
Biggest goals are to work on a faster HIM at Steelhead and a marathon PR in Chicago.  Also, I'm trying hard not to be such a crummy cyclist.

Age group: 30-34F

Personal: I'm half of an IronCouple...married to the best tri training partner ever (even though he's a non-BTer).  No kids (next year?), but 2 active golden retriever-ish dogs and 1 lazy orange house cat.  I work for the American Cancer Society managing our health education and survivorship initiatives through our Relay For Life events.

Tri History: Third season of Tri's. I started marathoning 5 years ago, then switched and have done 7 HIMs but only 1 sprint and 1 olympic. I guess I like to get more bang for my buck re: race entry fees!

Tri Goals for 2009: I have some lofty goals so that I can stay focused and push myself. I have a marathon this weekend, then I am scheduled to do 4 HIMs this season- Kansas, Muncie, Breakwater and Augusta. In each of those, I hope to win my AG and place overall amateur (eek!! I said it out loud!!) If I have the time, I'll do some short local races, too, I suppose!

Age group:25-29

Personal: I have the best dog in the world- Cody (2 year old female Australian Shepherd)- who is basically my child. I am pseudo-married to Yeats (Ryan). What is pseudo married you ask? Well, we've been dating for 8 years, but just don't have the time to get hitched Also, I'm in grad school at UM studying for my PhD in Neuroscience. Yes, I am that nerdy

Tri History: 2nd Tri season.  I have two sprints under my belt (Hawk Island and Big Fish).  I've been ridiculously lucky in that I've won raffle prizes at both (a $50 gift card for a bike shop and new wetsuit)

Tri Goals for 2009: A handful of sprints, a couple open-water swim events, and learning to enjoy running.

Age group: 25 - 29

Personal: I'm recently single (woot!).  No kids that I'm aware of.  I am a Software Trainer and my position requires that I travel out of state about 3 out of 4 weeks a month, which can make tri-training difficult.  But I've seen a lot of YMCA's around this country and have even been able to swim on a Naval Base.  I have two cats and can't wait until I'm home enough to be able to properly take care of a dog.  I spend tons of time with my family.  And I love winter sports like snowboarding and hockey.

Area: South Lyon - usually train at Island Lake

Tri History: Start of with some sport totally not related to tri.  My coach told me I don't have endurance and make me run everyday.  So I run.  1 block, 2 block, 3k, 5k, 10k... end up finishing a 1/2 marathon last year.  I pick up tri when my cycle buddy talk me into cycling.  Did one beginner tri last year, didn't start focus on tri until I move to Canton where I left my old gym.

Tri Goals for 2009:
Finish my first marathon.  Time doesn't matter as long as I am running not walking.  Do some more spirit tri and hope to prepare for HIM or Olympic distance next year.

Age group: 30-34M

Personal: Married 3 years, although my wife don't like to exercise she is the best cook and neutrionist on earth.  No kids, no pets.
I am obsessed with engine (thats why I end up in motorcity) and anything with two wheels (thats why I pick tri).  In day time I am a professional computer geek... aka software developer

Tri History: None so far; my first three sprints are scheduled for this summer.  I had always played football and rugby, and after obliterating my ACL, decided that maybe I should try something different.  A friend who used to play college ball decided to take up marathon running, knowing I'd get bored doing only one thing for so long, I opted for triathlons.

Tri Goals for 2009: Finish my first Sprints without having to stop/walk and meet some friends along the way.

Age group: 30-34M / Clydes

Personal: Married almost a year; no kids but one adopted cat that acts like one.  That's what happens when the girlfriend/wife raises a stray found just hours after it was born -- picture a fuzzy 4 year old.  I'm also a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNERTM at UBS in Farmington Hills.

Tri History: After being waaayyy overweight for the last 15 or so years, I finally decide enough is enough and started training for my first ever tri last year (Chicago Accenture). On my way to training for it, I fell in love with the sport and now want to train as much as I can! With work and family, it is a bit tough sometimes, but I get in as much as I can! I didn't want to get to Chicago without doing a tri first so last year I did: Big Fish; New Baltimore and T-Rex in addition to Chicago. I have lost 35 pounds so far and ideally have 20 more to go, but I have been "stuck" on this weight for a while!

Tri Goals for 2009: Doing Big Fish as an OLY (my first); all 3 Tri's at Island Lake; New Baltimore and one more OLY (not sure which one). Another goal is to stay uninjured! I have had a problem with that lately. Badly sprained ankle during Great Pumpkin Du in October and pulled an Achilles in February - still having problems running on it!!! I have also done 2 Lifetime Fitness indoor tri's.

Age group: 45 - 49

Personal: Married for over 25 years to my High School Sweetheart (thanks Clintondale HS!); Daughter 24 who works with me; Son 21 living in East Lansing; and daughter 13 living at home (believe it or not, she was planned!). I am an independent insurance agent specializing in insuring businesses.
